I'm happy Grimes found something that worked better for him. He seemed like a good guy and great tech. If you're not ready for change in any business, you won't survive. I'm happy the Wizard was able to fill the opening with J.M.
I totally understand why Grimes would leave, I drive 52 miles to work and 52 miles back home. The commute life is not for everyone. He will be missed but hopefully he’s happy.

Aww, gonna miss seeing Grimes! But his reasoning makes total sense, and I can only hope/presume you all parted on good terms. If Grimes sees these comments: good luck, and thanks for sharing so much knowledge with us all!
I had a upholstery shop put my car on the back burner years ago when I left it with him while I went on vacation. He said it would have it done but it wasn't. His classic car was more important. I was NOT happy. You are doing the right thing David.
He needs to open his own shop unless he can find an owner that will pay him what he's worth. There is no reason why he shouldn't be earning at least $100k a yr.
Best of luck to Tyler Grimes. I will see him on his Tik Tok account and 100% Jake's page from time to time. I will miss the Chevelle in the background when it is sold. The only contstant is change. Love your page.
Yeah, people would think differently if they factored in commuting time into their daily wage. If you work 8 hours a day and commute for 2 hours, there's your 20% pay cut already.
Losing Grimes was a big blow, but good on him; a long commute is good reason enough for a new job. As for the Malibu - I called it years ago. The V-12 was a pipedream Wizard - you should've just stuck a SBC in it and a TH-350 transmission and enjoyed it. I guarantee that's what the new owner will do.
I love to see you drop these projects that are finished or not - clear the garage, clear the head! You'll feel great when they are gone. On to the next!

I’ll miss Grimes, but I certainly understand why he’d prefer not to have such a long commute. He’s incredibly skilled and I wish him the best. He’ll be an incredible asset to any shop anywhere. Good luck with finding new homes for your cars and with getting the parts you need for the Wonderlodge. Thanks for the update and I look forward to upcoming episodes!
Losing Grimes is a big loss to the shop. Understand why he wants to eliminate the long drive. I did that for 18 years to the car factory job I held. Almost anybody can be trained to turn a wrench, but diagnostic skills are HARD to come by. There are THOUSANDS of parts changers out there which is NOT what you want in the shop.
Yep the wizard dropped the ball letting him slip away...You want to keep employees like Grimes happy & give them incentives to keep them satisfied so things like this do not happen!
@@ROCKOLA79 Sometimes theres just nothing you can do. If a shorter commute is a big factor, wizard is just SOL - its not like he's gonna move his business to retain one person.

I don't think I cared much for Junior Mint but I could be wrong. Was he there when the Metharatti came in? Now Magic Mike was pretty cool. He was a good asset for the shop. Too bad Grimes had to leave. He'll be missed. Great guy.
Well that sux that Grimes is gone. He was always a positive force in your videos. I get not wanting to commute, though -- 40 miles each way? Yuck. But welcome back Junior Mint!

Sometimes things happen for a reason. Just glad to see you found a replacement to keep the shop moving forward. As far as projects go sometimes we have to put our own stuff on the back burner for a long time before we finally get the chance to work on it.
Being far away from work was NOT the only reason he left. He knew that when he started the job. Wizard always putting him on cam which at times he seemed little uncomfortable and the wizard not sharing any of his youtube money with him he probably felt that was unfair. He knows he's a good mechanic and can go somewhere else which he can just work on cars and that's it. He has his own youtube channel now so now he's getting paid for it. Grimes was one of the best mechanic's he will be missed.

I went for months training one new guy after another, only to have them move on to better paid positions as soon as they got to be good at their job, and the company wouldn't offer enough money to keep them! Meanwhile, I ended up training new folks and delaying my vacations (I got 4 weeks a year!). I kept my employees by taking less money for myself. In return I had great loyal, employees who were masters at their craft. Many shop owners think they should be wealthy.
Shop owners should make enough to stay updated in tools and equipment as well as the opportunity to expand. It benefits everyone in the shop. As long as the owner is investing back into the business and it's employees all will work out well.
Exactly. If employees take a personal liking to their boss and are compensated well they take a vested interest in helping the business succeed. Wizard is only floating because of the TH-cam revenue. If he kept losing top mechanics like Magic Mike and Grimes he would have been in trouble a long time ago.
@petrosaguilar8916 I wouldn't say youtube is making a difference. Even without it he would have a successful business. It does allow him to make some extra money but it isn't carrying his business. He was in business before he was on youtube.

Majic Mike and Grimes setting up down the road 😉
You should move your shop closer to Grimes home. He is AWESOME! Seriously, losing him is a big lose, but you will find another genius!
I kept my employees by taking less money for myself. In return I had great loyal, employees who were masters at their craft. Many shop owners think they should be wealthy.
I thought that is the way to go, but same thing absolutely didn't work out for me over the years.

I wouldn't say youtube is making a difference. Even without it he would have a successful business. It does allow him to make some extra money but it isn't carrying his business. He was in business before he was on youtube.
@@12yearssober it's obviously not successful for his employees. Point is that he's not paying them what they're worth. You know something is wrong when his mechanics are driving beaters from Facebook while him and his wife are splurging on Maseratis and big boats.
I hope the Malibu finds a good home ❤
That Malibu has been on that rack since The Wizard started his channel. It's time to move it on down the road.
Good Luck Grimes!
Sorry to hear grimes left, good to hear junior mints back.
