I’m pretty positive that 3rd test on the apples was user error. The warp was slopes downward. So the blade wouldn’t have shot up...
That’s what I was thinking. These judges are scrubs.
Agree. And i was always wondering why do they make strength test before sharpnes
Well, in forge you would always strengthen the blade before sharping it. Done incorrectly it will make it more fragile and more likely to break like a cardboard.
A dent in a blade is a significant damage that when it's small doesn't change much, but a damage like the knife of the blue shirt guy well.. it will be useless. Blades are .. harsh to make. Tedious work.
Agreeing with human error, and lack of repeated trials to determine
yeah if you go back and watch the first cut . he keeps the thumb pressure on the knife along the slide rail keeping it inline with the apples . the next 2 cuts he pulls the knife up each time , even samurai swords get bends in them from time to time , as long as the edge is fine it still cuts fine . they just apply pressure along the blade to restraighten it
Old man trips on his shoelaces and stabs himself in the leg: "see Frank, the handle on your blade made me forget to tie my shoes."
xDDD
It was him who did not managed to cut clearly thru the apples, not the knife.
thumbs up
Yep
No... lol you have no idea what you are talking about.
Whatis wrong him
@POLANDWAR if u slow the speed even more at 3:18 u can see the blade was slightly at an incline
"Held up very well"
"It will keel"
Signature lines.
the apple cutting is humen error you can see hes moving up more
rangaTHEwizard exactly it’s rigged he moves the knives up
Its almost as if a roll and a bend will effect the knives path of movement . . . The dudes a master at what he does. Seriously. Challenge time. Take a knife, bend it or give it a roll the size of a thumb, do this test without forcing it down, let the knife make its path. . .and watch as its forced up.
3:50 he lifts and angles the blade up before he even touched the apple...nice.
Lmao you are right.
Lmao you are right.
Lmao you are right.
Lmao you are right.
Lmao you are right
3:50 put on 0.25 speed and watch the blade rise before even touching the apples
You know what it is? He pulled the blade back and it went up due to the bend in the blade
In the first test he also raises the blade and did not affect the cut. 2:43
the amount of human error , man these are not true tests
glad to see someone else notices it
He literally just missed the apples.....and is blaming it on the blade
Yes but no robot is gonna use these blades
Bryce Williams yes but that literally is irrelevant. With the human error, that means it’s the person determining which blade wins, not the blades themselves
Who cares, they do a great job as do the bladesmiths
There have to be more scientific ways of comparing the knives, but I guess they wouldn't look as cool.
Nick Stevens would be as brutal the strength test is meant to destroy knives you just have to make it stronger
there are but that dosen't make good tv
They use spring loaded arms on other tests they could easily have one that actually swings horizontally
Whats the point of doing the strenght test before sharpness lol
Well you gotta see if the blade can hold up sharpness after abuse
that doesen't make that much sense , if a blade is designed to be sharp but not durable then you should test for its sharpness if the blade was designed to be durable you should still test it's initial sharpness , honestly i dont mind these little things i just had to share my thought , this is a show that brought many people to blacksmithing , including me and even tho' there are some inconsistencies like the way they use different types of swords , to the way they test those swords and how historically accurate the usage of those swords was , it is still a good thing to try to revive a dying craft.
@@18IMAMGODINA a blade is supposed to be durable and sharp.
No , depending on the type of blade for some jobs you just do not need a durable blade , but a extremely sharp one.
If you are not doing a job that will be tough to a knife example , cutting fish fillets , you need a sharp knife and durability is not important .
ofc if it is a multipurpose knife i can understand why you need this.
StodOne No a blade should be strong and sharp
A slice test after an endurance test is like a sparring match after a 10km jog.
Username checks out.
Chess boxing, anyone?
Slow it down to .25 speed and just look at the last two apple cut tests, you can see him pull away from the metal guide just before hitting the first apple in both tests.
*THAT POWER HAMMER NO JOKE!*
“It just skitted the blade to narnia”😂
Before yall say anything abt the sharpness test... You need to know det the blade automatically change da direction by itself i tried it on a bent knife and cut it on a paper and it does da sme thing
Tony are you ready ? " Get Her Done " 😂😂
I watch these test and just cry. Those knives start out so beautiful. Just Ouch!
The old man must use the same energy and direction to all of those knives. So, he will not adjust his hands to be fair.
Sir, the blade is fine.
BUT YOU MISSED THE APPLES
Dude you swing up it's gonna cut up. Complete user error on their part.
1: hes a master sword smith.
2: the test is about how the blades go through the apple he is just letting the blade take its path.
3: the roll in the blade forced it upwards as it grabs at the apples and causes an increase on one size, thus guiding the blade up.
4: the warp in the blade does pretty much the same thing. Theyre not lying. Theyre testing it fairly and doing what they are supposed to.
@@ShuTheIdiot stop these master bladesmiths don't know anything compared to rando dudes on TH-cam
Dillon George and you believe everything you see on the Internet
@@ShuTheIdiot 3:48 .25 speed and what what he does with the blade before it hits the first apple
@@SaltyCuntno1 thats what you call a rolling edge. Its a mix of edge allignment and the edge rolling. It forces the blade upwards. Check the slomo guys katana and water bottle video to see how easy it is for a blade thats perfectly fine to be driven upwards and still cut beautifully.
The old man needs more practice slicing
You telling an advanced master swordsman he needs more practice? Okay so, a straight knife goes straight, an angled blade, no matter how much you fight it, will go on an angle.
@@superblahman he himself made it go up otherwise he would have kept it down or at least tried to
@@superblahman the blade was warped downwards when he was slicing, not upwards, there was no way it shot up
@@dwagchill1586 He slid it along a rail. The extremely bent blade made it go up...
All of you go back and play the video at .25x speed and he legit lifts off the rail and misses the apples on purpose
Thank you...
1:18 now you know Gun Stock is nothing compared to soft pine 🤣
Why is this the only test where I’ve seen Ben swinging that blade really hard
Love this show.
That warp is also easily fixed by redoing the heat treat, that is why his was honestly, the best one. The other two had damage to the edge, which shows they ether grounded away to much material, or did not heat treat properly.
superblahmanofdoom thank you. Been waiting for someone to say this. 😀
For all you nunchucks saying they should do the sharpness test first to make it more fair, it literally doesn’t matter as all the knives go through the same tests in the same order, so the better blade will win regardless of the test order.
My favourite show
As much as I like the show, sometimes it seems silly how they do some tests.
I know nothing much about knives but I like that you shouldn't hack on wood that, that's what axes are for
The way a blade reacts to the wood says something about the blade. Is it durable? Will the edge hold? Is it tempered correctly? As for the handle . Is it appropriate for thr blade? Does it have contour ? Is it too circular ?? Those test creat stress to the blade which will naturally happen over time.
The test isnt about if a blade is meant to do those thing its about TRYING to damage the blades to see who can make a knife that survives. Also they’ve chopped harder things than wood before like antler mufflers, the did it on palm trees which really wreck house.
those knives+ apples = very satisfying
Mass hysteria here with everyone looking up lol
Those perfect apples wasted man😤
;
True they could of used bad apples
its apples who cares
Who says they're wasted all they did was cut them
Da Brock in germany you pay 10 bucks for 5 apple :D the greens are the best :)
They make some cool wepans and they are strong
Frank's edginess was the best part
The guy in the middle looks like that guy off tmz 😂👍
Wow just wow
Now to make an apple pie 😂
How are u supposed to get a straight/clean cut if you just KILLED your blade
It's a cutting edge durability test. It's supposed to test the cutting efficiency of a blade after dmg. Though if the Smith new he would be chopping at a solid wood stock to begin with I'm sure they would of forged differently
Because if it was a good blade with good steel it'll withstand the abuse and cut fine after.
Im positive that that the 3rd test was bs
No apples were harmed in the making of this video!
they should choose best among the three for each blade. Since he faced warp upward and slides the apple, He could have face it upside down yet he wants to keep audience thrilled about elimination
1:10 lol 🤣🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
On BOTH the 2nd and 3rd tests, if you slow the speed right down, you can actually see he starts lifting the blade even before it touches the first apple!
my hand hurts watching those handles reverberate in his hand when he hits the butt stocks..
That 3rd guy, Frank, looks so angry every time they picked up his blade
Hitting a thin kitchen knife on a hard wooden surface is just a recipe for disaster. Plus the guy cutting the apples had major error flaws. This is a joke
Lol i love this channel
Where is "will kyeel"?
Ben Abbott gotta get those hand tremors checked out
Those apples look so good.
they are good enough to realize which weapon is better after using it. not like you guys
I stopped watching this show after seeing repeated human errors from the judges I mean one episode the judge slapped a pig with the side of a sword and blamed the maker for the bend ...... stupid
This show is trash I have watched the forging parts and skipped the tests because they're so dramatized and I hate all the forced dialogue why can people just not make a realistic show about something why does it all have to have fake forced contrived drama nobody actually likes that why do producers keep acting like they do?
@@Tinker.Studio m o n e y
@@Tinker.Studio contrived drama ?
I do agree with you that there's a lot of human error. But a sword should not bend just because it hits with the flat.
@@bernardobastos5996 any metal hardened or not when swung hard and hit flat WILL bend it's the law of physics
3:18 it looks like he goes upward before the blade touches the apple
That’s because it does
Ill take a bit of a warp then a rolled over blade ant day
Romania welcomes you!
*runs car into brick wall* “see Frank, the whole front end of your car is smashed into pieces.. you did not heat treat it correctly”
👏👏👏👏👏 cool cut the green apple
Can someone explain to me why they do the strength test before the sharpness?
First thought when he sliced them appes: fruit ninja combo.
the real failure is the testing
Ok tony, we’re gonna chop this 1987 Hubba Bubba bubblegum maker set: limited edition 10.728 times. Like how specific do you need to be 😂?
Oh yeah yeah
Why do they do the most damaging test first
They want to see how well the blade keeps its edge after significant abuse
@@alphaplayzz1381 While that is true they should have tested the cutting edge first, strength test then retested the cutting edge to see how well they held up. Without that base they have no idea how well they were really designed to cut.
You can see before the blade hits the apples with Frank's knife he lifts the blade up rather than keeping it on the metal pole/rod. Not the first time this has happened either.
This is the weirdest master chef I've seen yet.
SATISFYING VIDEOOOOOOOOO EVER SPECIALLY AT 2:45
They really should do two sharp tests, one before and one after the strength test.
They should’ve done the edge test before durability
Kelvin Fang gotta see how the edge holds up after some damage
You know there’s human error when it happens twice
I agree I think he purposely went up on the apples twice
eet weel keel 😍😂
Would like to see them make halberds
The guy that cut the apples did the same thing twice in a row
I am sure that the 3rd attempt of apple cut is human error. take a look on 1:43 and pause. The damage on the gun handle is pretty strong compared to first one knife.
Lol the last apple test he moved the blade up before he even hit the first apple play it on .5
In the thumbnail I thought that guy was Stan Lee XD
I feel like in sharpness test there was a partiality made just notice the cut. He lifted the hand upwards on the second and third contestant where as on the first contestant he kept the blade flat and straight. Defect in the judge.
Completely off subject but would love to see a Cold Steel spetsnaz shovel under go the same test.
Before this test I kept thinking man these tests are just not accurate but this bs sure proves the point
Am i the only one that notcied at the end he said corey and he got so happy and then he said u did not make the cut lol
I was here for the It weel keel face
Colonel sanders hates apples. A chicken breast a day keeps the doctor away.
Frank should legally change his name to El Chopo.
The strength tests that they have on this show are ridiculous
I feel that in the show it is intentionally much harder than anything standard to push people to their limits. I feel as if treating this show as a proper and more refined blade test would kind of take the edge away of what makes it interesting. I mean if you really think about it would you rather see people having perfect blades acing every test or having little imperfections that suit to other tests and fail on some. Overall I watch the show because of the tension of making these knew unfamiliar things. So when people have to get creative I get more interested and it genuinely makes me want to make weapons even though I have no idea what I’m doing. I hope one day someone figures out how to make a durable sharp blade that is roll resistant so that when people start getting through these tests easier they can start having harder ones. Love the show, keep up the great work!
Doug is the ONLY LEGIT judge in this competition
He pulled the knife up on the last test
Warp? In that distance and that size of blade?
Lots of user air on apples with test 2 and 3
Steven McVay error*
@@suhaylnawar7232 in all fairness, he got lots of air too
@@i_forget glad you understood my play on words there. Knew someone would try and correct it though lol
I feel like the only test that should be done by human is the kill test. The guy that does that is so good at it.
2:31 colonel sanders
They need to do the strength test at last
the amount of people who do not understand how the test work is too high.
I don’t remember any of these testing techniques In the blade smith test.
The strength test should be the last test
He went up not across*
Why does Ben have a book under his shirt, which he holds in place with his spare hand?
The old dude cut up Nd ain’t even cut it straight across
Do you know how soft apples are ? He cut those apples by gliding the knife on the rail behind it. If the knife is truely sharp after the strength test....it will could cut smoothly and easily. The knife sucked
