You realize it’s extremely difficult to not take damage right? The whole point is to see who takes the least to none. Example is the blade climbing, that’s a profile issue.

Well, your knife is razor sharp, so comfortable to handle, and overall it passed the test that we shoot the knife with 50.bmg machine gun. But unfortunately your knife is out of date so, we must ask you to leave the forge.

My dad is a blacksmith, he often make machete and test it on other machete, if the machete succeed slice the other, means it's a good machete.

Love this show. Only show like it. The judges adress issues like men and not degrade the smith or his work. Competitors respect each other till the end no temper tantrums and nothing but respect clear across the board

@@georgestaromana8133 The point is to test how well the blade cuts after undergoing extensive use. Any bladesmith should be able to make a sharp blade, but it takes skill and experience to make a blade tough and hard enough to retain an edge under extreme circumstances while having the right amount of flex to not just snap in two after receiving a hard shock.

Apple test. "Runs out of blade" on the 1st one. Yet on the 2nd, starts in the middle of the blade and ends in the middle of the blade. Tester error.
Such a destructive and counterproductive means test the blade strength.

Him running out of blade had nothing to do with Rob being sent home. The reason they gave was that Rob’s blade handled the stress test poorly compared to the other two
@@sticklyman196 I'm not concerned with who won or didn't, tbh. This was just a concrete example of a place where human error can cause discrepancies in a competition such as this.
yes this is absolutely true, however, robot or machine tests arent as exciting and theyre expensive, this is a tv show, its not objectively perfect and unbiased, it's designed to generate viewers and ultimately money.
Where is the logic in testing the knifes first at the barrel deforming it and then testing the sharpness?
Anything can be made sharp. They're testing to see how long it'll stay sharp.

To me the whiskey barrel test seemed pointless.I think they should test them for things a large knife is likely to actually be used for. Like prepping food,skinning,maybe cutting kindling or carving,maybe even self defense applications.

I would like to point out that a proper temper will resist that... I've seen a few blades survive beating metal with no damage. The broken one is only because it had a bad temper and snapped.

Zezens Pratama to see who has the strongest blade? Not all blade are used for cooking. Many are used for literally everything else. Not to mention most of the time in this show is used for as a battle WEAPON. It NEEDS to stand up after beating hard things with it. My survival knife I take with me to go camping, I literally use it to chop tree branches, and the blade is perfectly fine.
I swear every time it goes slow-mo during a test like that I cringe and tense up waiting to see if the blade snaps XD

The strength test before the sharpness test doesnt make sense...
Does, I can put a razor edge on a blade that can cut through those apples no issue,
But one or two whacks on the barrel would completely destroy the blade.
Like a $500 knife Vs a butter knife,
I can get both just as sharp, it's just one will hold that edge much longer

The last guy with the apple just refuses to admit to everyone that he just missed, and try to put the blame on the maker and his knife, heh. That look that everyone gave just screamed "oh dang, he missed ". The maker was probably like "Ah crack, he's gonna blame me for him messing up!"

i'll prefer machine to test these weapons. For the exact amount of force it's producing per test.
A machine, in theory, wouldn't be actively using these knives though. These knives are designed to be used by people.

if the knife was well made, it should still be sharp, notice that all 3 were still sharp even after the test. ultimately the guy who got knocked out was because his blade took a bit more damage than the other two in that initial test. if the blade was not tempered correctly, it will lose its edge or fail completely, wheras if it was made well it should only blunt in the initial section, if even that
