Thanks for your review! An item worth mentioning - I'm virtually positive that your comment that the RWD Ioniq 6 does NOT have a heat pump is incorrect. Discussions in online I6 forums, other reviews, dealership listed features, etc. state that the only trim level for the I6 without a heat pump is the very hard to find entry level standard range. Everything I can find indicates that for model years 2023-2025, all I6 trim levels above standard range (SE, SEL, etc.) come with a heat pump standard in both AWD and RWD versions. I'm getting ready to pop for a long range RWD SE and I've looked into this quite a bit, but that said, if I'm incorrect, my apologies and back to the drawing board for me :) Keep up the good work and your fun, informative reviews!!
Thanks for pointing this out…I just went down a rabbit hole and it seems that you are correct…weird that the Ioniq 6 is the only one like that. The Ioniq 5 and EV6 both only get the heat pump if you get AWD, even though all 3 are on the same platform. -SC
@@theevgeekpodcast Thanks for checking me and I agree - it IS weird. It would help all of us if dealerships were more familiar with EV particulars. When I asked my dealer in Connecticut about the I6 heat pump, none of sales, parts or service knew the answer, and I had to explain to them why it's important. We're getting there I suppose - one baby step at a time. Thanks again and Happy 2025!!
Unfortunately wireless carplay/AA will never be added via ota updates. But there's plenty of aftermarket dongles to add that. Once the ioniq 6 gets a design refresh with the ccnc infotainment system, it'll finally get wireless.
Research a little more, the battery pre-conditionning just needs to be activated and it'll activate automatically when you select a charger in your destination (just saying as an owner of an Ioniq 6). Don't need data for that but it's too bad you can't tell it to do it on demand... you have to plan a route to a charger with the navigation.
Trunk space compared to my Ford Fusion PHEV Titanium, is huge and you also have the back fold down seats. Only drawback is finding level 3 DC charging stations on a long drive and on a Sunday nite, where they may be listed at dealers which are closed. Love my 6 Nocturnal Grey, black interior AWD Limited with mounted Glossy Black 18” winter tires in Montreal, Quebec!! :). Best car that I have ever owned.
I'm driving the same, Nocturne Grey AWD, with 18" Black 10 spoke winter tires. It's hard to keep kleen, always dirty in winter. I very nice car to ride.
A couple of things: 1. Buying a Tesla in 2024 is an act of absolute moral depravity 2. I am literally buying a Black 2wd Hyundai RWD from Crain Hyundai as we speak. The transporter should be picking it up just about now to ship it to me. Is this my car?
@@theevgeekpodcast I am really wondering if that is the car I am buying- when did you drive it? I guess I'll be able to tell if the Walmart is saved in the favorite charging stations
Good video. I watched it because I’m increasingly disgusted with Musk’s behavior (most recently publicly supporting the far right German political party, which has neo Nazis in it), and considering alternatives to my ’24 Model 3 LR AWD, which cost $40k. The LR RWD, more comparable to this, costs $35k with a $7.5k tax break unfortunately not available for the Ioniq 6. I built the model you tested, costing $52k-48% more for the Ioniq and 33% more than my LR AWD. The new Model 3 is quieter, faster to 60 at 4.9s (vs. 6.2s for the Ioniq 6 and 4.2s for the 3 LR AWD), and has superior autonomous driving and sound system compared to my previous Ioniq 5 AWD Limited. Despite being disgusted with Elon, the significant price difference and better climate impact are hard to ignore. I added a $260 aftermarket CarPlay unit to my Model 3, and it works well. Supporting Musk is unfortunate, but my $17k won’t make a difference to him but will make a huge difference to my family. The Model 3 is the clear winner between these two unfortunately. Hopefully things will change soon in the other direction.
I'm guessing that the HUGE issue is the TINY trunk - which was a total deal-breaker for me (unfortunate because I otherwise loved absolutely everything about the one I drove).
@@bafattvahetere I have a MK6 Jetta, the trunk of which is huge in comparison (15.7 versus 11.2 cubic feet). I GET why Ioniq 6's is small (the car's droopy/swoopy butt), but it's still disappointing.
I have this vehicle and I get way less than 300 miles of range. The base model or even the middle would be better for long range. I’m rather upset about my purchase.
@@theevgeekpodcast I try and not do that and just to compare cars against each other. As we saw in the Coast to coast by Out of Spec between this and the 3 there is no real difference (if any) in how they work etc so what is the only difference ?? the CEO could well be the differentor for many in the US and world wide.
