Martha Salomon true, I know a lot of people like love tajín but I don't like how un-spicy and sour it tastes. All the street vendors I've encountered use regular chili powder so that's how I've got used to them - and no lime! but that's just how I've eaten them, of course

Also, try some melted butter on it first, then a mayo with mexican sour cream mixture, cotija, tajin or chili powder, and then a drizzle tapatio hot sauce. Top with a squeeze of fresh lime and you're good to go! You won't regret it!!

I like to cut the mayo with a splash of milk and mix in lemon pepper, skip the cheese, then go in with cayenne, Tajin, and maybe some crushed red pepper. Freaking delicious.

Corporate Coffee Futures it’s okay if you don’t use tajin. If you want an authentic Mexican corn, use a hot sauce special for corn instead. I don’t mean Valentina or any of those kind. The one I’m talking about is kind of chunky and I think it needs to be homemade. I don’t think you can buy it anywhere.

@@WeatherMondacicci FWIW I'm a big fan of using cayenne. In all the stalls I've been to serving elote in Texas, they usually just slather on the mayo and cheese for you and then they'll have an assortment of spices that you can put on yourself. It's highly customizable and you can't really do it wrong, just go with what tastes good!

This is my FAVORITE snack on the planet!! When we moved from Massachusetts to Texas when I was around 10, my family's tastebuds woke up !! 😅This snack, among a thousand other Texan dishes is responsible for that..........Southern food ,in general, is just so incredible but this little Mexican diddy just pushes corn to another level. Love it with Maldon salt, mayo, cotija, lots of lime, chili powder and CILANTRO of course!! Just FABULOUS!!❤️

I live in Texas, so yes this is popular..I like the " corn in a cup" version..basically the same exact thing, just that the corn isn't on the cob..I use "fiesta" style corn...the corn that's packed with bits of red and green bell pepper..a spoon of Mayonesa ( Mexican style mayonnaise made with lime), cajeta or parmesan, lime squeeze, chili powder..it's so dadgum good!

In the Philippines we brush the hot, freshly steamed corn with melted butter all over. You can buy them from any person that goes around and lugs around this huge metal bucket-like steamer container (idk how to describe it). I haven't been back there in like 10 years though so I don't know if this is still a thing but. It's a childhood favorite!

I was thinking the same. Esquites are easy to make. Boil 4-5 tomatillos with chicken stock. Blend. Then pour that in with a 2 lbs. of corn kernels, fresh or frozen, add a few sprigs of epazote, and a pinch of salt, and simmer 5-10 min. When the corns done, ladle into cups, add some mayo, a squeeze of lime, some cotija cheese, and some chili powder/tajin. Enjoy! 😊

The only thing you forgot is this type of butter (that's not really butter) that you buy in a blue bottle, they sell it at the grocery store near the butter... I don't know how to explain it but after you add what you have in there you squeeze that "butter" in a zigzag motion on top.. Also usually we don't add lime (which is why we use just like cayenne pepper, or any spicy powder not tajin) but if you want to add lime then that would be esquites, which is traditionally made from corn taken off of the cob. :)

That's the basic way to make elotes, but in some places people can add meat, bacon and chips.

      @Wraithworshipper 6 ปีที่แล้ว

mzkeva7. Yup! Slather it thick in your hair, wrap your hair with saran wrap, and then heat it well with a hair dryer for several minutes. It's best if you have a bonnet hair drier for even heating. You MUST use REAL mayonnaise. Wash it all out well using a "gentle" shampoo and towel dry. You don't want to undo all of the deep conditioning you just did.

You can also use t as a lice treatment

Sounds gross but makes sense. Real mayo has egg as well as oil, both of which are good hair treatments.

For a party, we had a "Mexican Corn station". Sweet white corn in a slow cooker, shucked of course, Mayo, cheese, lemon etc. It was a hit and easy less messy!!!

MY MOUTH IS WATERING BECAUSE I KNO HOW DELICIOSO THIS IS!!! Parmesan is a good substitute but Cotija is alot more mild and has a lighter flavor so I definetly recommend trying to use the Cotija, it looks great Emmy!!!!

Soy Mexicano y nunca eh visto que le echen limon al Elote Preparado por lo general nunca se hace.
te recomiendo hacer Esquites, Son igual de elote y es un poquito mas complicado de hacer
Im Mexican and I have never seen someone puting lime in Elote, Generally whe don't do it, I recommend you to make some "Esquites", they are made of Corn too. they are a little bit more tricky to prepare

Yo tampoco agregaba limón, por que donde vivo los preparan con crema en lugar de mayonesa, y me decían que si los comía con crema y limón me iba a empachar, pero en una ocasión vi que un señor los pidió con limón y los probé, saben súper ricos :Q_

The street vendors here in arizona spray the corn with either lemon or lime juice so maybe it depends on what part it comes from?

I take raw corn on the cob and slather it with butter, then sprinkle it with a pinch of salt and sugar, wrap it up in plastic wrap, and zap it in the microwave for about 2-3 minutes. It is SO good
