You can also boil the corn. I actually perfer it this way. 😋 This is how the elotero guys make it in SoCal. They also drizzle the squeezable butter. It's not clean butter, but it's so yummy!
Actually elotes are more a winter food 😅 although we can eat it all year long here in Mexico, also mostly used is white corn; I've never seen that cilantro goes into an Elote not because it can't be kept fresh but because it's not for elote (that's for menudo and birria 🤭) but they do boil them with epazote. Another variance of this is called chascas in Aguascalientes, the difference is they don't eat the "broth" left after they cook the elotes at all (esquite does stay in the "broth" it was cooked and they can serve it with or without it), chascas are usually cooked with different things after boiling and that gives the different flavorings like chorizo, mushrooms, herbs, super spicy and other things they come up with hehe Still this looks like a good variance of elote 👍
I watched this, and gave me the confidence to try at home. We cut the corn off the cob, and mixed it all together, so more like the esquites, but definitely used your lime hint - in the sauce, added at the end, etc. Not too shabby. I still prefer going to the hole in the wall shack in Freeport (Texas) but was able to do this myself. A nice side to our beef fajitas.
Wow! This elote recipe sounds delicious! I'll try to replicate it with a mix of parmesan and pecolino cheese because I can't find Mexican cheese here in Italy 😋😋
@Downshiftology Yes, I did. I made them last night, and they were simply fantastic. 😋 Loved them and will be making them again. Still have some corn in the fridge. Thank you so much. 👍👍👍
Gorgeous presentation...! Enjoyed watching it 👌👌👍 Thanks for sharing these maxican street corn recipes perfectly amazing and wonderful video Keep it up. please be stay connected. 😊👍🙏
I love the cup idea! You can alway grill it and get the kernels off the cob after and add the sauces and everything :p. I had it in a Mexican restaurant in Naples recently but they only added cotija cheese. It was still delicious. :). Can't wait to try this!
Lady, you roll the elote on the crumbled cheese, making sure you press a little to make sure the cheese adheres to the elote. The best adherent is crème cheese and it is the best flavor.
It looks delicious!!! Cannot wait to try this recipe. I know you love Mexican food, and maybe I missed, but I couldn't find an enchilada recipe on your website. If you're taking suggestions, I would love to see that. I've made many of your recipes and loved them all. Thanks for sharing ❤
Can we use Greek yogurt for the sour cream? Also, what can you substitute for the cheese? I live in Portugal and ha ent seen that cheese here. Thanks!!
Love this recipe! Although I’ll admit that I only used some frozen corn and layered in a cup like the street vendor did. It was delicious. Next time I cook a big family meal I’ll grill corn on the cob first.
Lacy Peterson was pregnant with her son. Scott Peterson was charged with 2 murders, one for Lacy and the other for their UNBORN baby Conner! This story is from 2004, but regardless, it is a great example to show that unborn babies are human. 😥 “You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous-how well I know it. You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb. You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed.” Psalms 139:13-16
envy at how you bite into that corn, and then nothing spills on you... I'd already be smeared all over with so much mayo on my face I'd look like a clown
What are some of your other favorite Mexican recipes? Meaning, what should I make a video of next?? ;) xo - Lisa
Can I request for Birria tacos? Yummmm...
Chorizo
Refried black beans
Enchiladas
Chilaquiles!! 🙏🏼🥰
CHICKEN TINGA TOSTADAS
Tacos de canasta
😋🌽🥰 we use Tajin on our Mexican dishes because it has chili powder and lime in it. Thank you for sharing another awesome recipe.
Great suggestion 👍🏾
Thanks for the tip Shelly!!
It has lime too. Good to know. Thanks!

Yes, boiling corn is one way to do it if you don't have a grill!
I grill mine in our toaster oven wrapped in foil
El elote entero preparado o en vaso se consume TODO el año en México, PERO cuándo llega la temporada de frío es simplemente genial 😊
Bendiciones ❤
Love Mexican street corn! Love this!

LOL That one day of hot weather we had last Friday was great. And now we're back to the cool. LOVE elote. Thank you Lisa!
That Mexican Elote 🌽 recipe looks really good, healthy & mouthwatering😋 & 💛 all your video's mam👍
This is the best corn ever... I used to eat this often when I lived in California
This is your reminder now to make it at home, wherever you are 😉
As a Mexican, its not pronounced "e-lotay", it's pronounced "eh-loteh" Shout out for loving our food though! 🎉❤😊
This was one of the best recipes I've seen. Thank you and yes I enjoyed the video!!
I’m mexican and I approve this recipe 😊
Happy to hear that Erika 😊
One of my favorites! Thanks for the recipe. Love the idea of Elote in a cup.
Esquites is such a delicious dish as well! I'll have to make another recipe for that at some point 😉
OMG!! Looks soooooo freaking GOOD!
This looks amazing. Also, can you show us your outdoor cooking space. It looks pretty cool too.
The cooking space is just part of my apartment 😊
I've never had this but always wanted to try it. Looks like a bomb of flavors. Delicious. 😋 Beautiful presentation.

@Downshiftology Yes, I did. I made them last night, and they were simply fantastic. 😋 Loved them and will be making them again. Still have some corn in the fridge. Thank you so much. 👍👍👍
I’m so glad it’s finally warm where I’m at because I’m firing up the grill this weekend. This will go great with grilled chicken.
Perfect timing! Hope your elote turns out perfectly 😊

Looks delicious, I'll try it soon.
Made some tonight and OMG! I ate two!! So delicious ❤
Glad you loved this elote recipe Angelic!
Super super cool! I’ve been eating those in Los Angeles since I was a teen, & the esquites, I’ve heard abt that a year ago, I’m late in the game.. 😉
Thank you ❤😊
Looks amazing. Any tips on finding the juicy limes
Yum 👍Thank you very much😁👍
They look fantastic. I'm going to try this. Hopefully I can find the cheese.
We made those last night -turned out so good! So delicious!
P.S. we grilled for 20 mins ( medium/high).
Love this! I also like your jeans … do you remember where you bought them?
They are from Agolde!
I'm going to use this recipe and mix cut grilled corn to it as a salad instead, to be mixed with Spanish rice. So excited!
That would be so delicious! There's honestly so many ways you can use this recipe once you shave off the corn and play with the toppings.
I know you said no substitutes but if you can't get cotija cheese, could a mix of feta and parmesan work in a pinch?
Yep, that's fine!
This looks so delicious, simple and quick. Nicely prepared love how simple the recipe is ❤
It's definitely super easy to make!
Yummy recipe video

I have just returned from Los Barriles on Baja and was elated to get this notice about elotes Yeah!
What perfect timing!! Hope you enjoy this elote recipe 😊
@@Downshiftology as soon as the sun comes out in rainy Canada, I am making it. can’t wait

Looking so Delicious.
Thank you for sharing
Wow look so delicious 👍😘🔔❤
These are the best!! ❤
So delicious and easy to make!!
You gotta have it with field corn though, which is hard to find in the states
I made this before I went dairy free! I miss this so much!! Is there any way to do this dairy free? (I’m also gF, sugar free).
This one needs the cheese to make it "elote". But you can absolutely use lime juice and chili powder as a topping!
Can we use Greek yogurt for the sour cream? Also, what can you substitute for the cheese? I live in Portugal and ha ent seen that cheese here. Thanks!!
Jeanette work was loose corn kernels inside the Quan gob
Looks so yummy... Without cilantro. 😂😂😂 If I don't find that cheese. Which one you recommend? Thanks Lisa. Greetings from Spain
YUM!
I know this is mostly a cooking/recipe channel, but have you tried any Cymbiotika products?
Thank you.
Hope you enjoy!
Love this recipe! Although I’ll admit that I only used some frozen corn and layered in a cup like the street vendor did. It was delicious. Next time I cook a big family meal I’ll grill corn on the cob first.
Hope you and your family loves this elote recipe!
yum!
Delicious
Going to make this today for my son's birthday BBQ:-)
Try it with Tajin 👌
🔥🔥🔥
Imagine if ninja got eloteee buffet.
Note the esquites stand leaving the mayo out!
Delicious, if I could add cilantro to everything, I would. 😅
Honestly, me too 😂
Agree with using crema as is more authentic (Mexico and South America) - no need for mayo
❤
I appreciate you trying to pronounce ingredients and food with the correct pronunciation vs butchering it completely or not even trying at all
Thanks so much! If you ever catch me saying anything wrong too, please let me know 😊
Para que agarre más sabor la parrilla necesita estar lo más oxidada posible 😅

Definitely the place for this

Its gross! But folks love it in DC too.
“It makes me happy” isn’t that special
