    Yes…for so long I loved all the beautiful cross stitch designs - especially the Miras and some of the others. But, I was overwhelmed with larger patterns and higher counts like Luguana and linens. Stitching the “tic-tac-toe” of 2 over 2, almost drove me to tear out my hair LOL. I just couldn’t find how to do the next stitch LOL. And, then I found a super gal on FB who was doing all her Miras on 16c and I thought wow her stuff looks great. I could do that, maybe? And, also I found someone who grids their fabric, this was so helpful for me too. One step further and I found one switcher who actually letters and numbers each quadrant and that’s been a lifesaver for me! So I feel like whatever works! I need crafty-crutches! But, I’m happy to use them so I can play and have fun! =)

      Oh yes! I love the term "crafty crutches", I just do what makes me happy and is easiest for me. No crafty police allowed!

    Hi, Bonnie. Belated welcome to FlossTube - and how refreshing to see that you stitch on Aida! I have always linen challenging and frustrating - so 20 years ago, I made the decision that I was an Aida stitcher and have never looked back. My projects have been beautiful and I always get great compliments on the. Please be grateful that you still have your eyesight and we are blessed to have so many tools to support our eyesight in our daily functions, AND pursue our crafts and hobbies. Lovely first video, and I look forward to watching the others and catching up with your progress. Take care.

    I have always used Aida and love 18 count. I'm 65 and have done needlework since I was 5! I had a wonderful mom who sewed and taught me everything. Bifocals limit my capabilities with higher count fabrics so I got rid of the Hardanger and other materials. I've never used linen but it is beautiful! Love the whale, I use hoops also!
    Love your project bags! I just bought the other components I needed: vinyl, batting & zips. I have plenty of fabric! Welcome to flosstube❣

      Thank you so much! I love making the project bags, it gives me an excuse to use up some of those fabrics I don't know what to do with.

    Great first video. I have had a very similar journey with cross stitch and we are the same age. I have the same issue with my eyes. I also use Aida. Never apologize for using Aida. This is a hobby and it is supposed to be fun. Your projects look great.

    I’m 57 and like you, stitched when I was college age and then stopped off and on. I just came back to it last year (September) and can’t stop! It has been so much fun to see the variety of patterns and fabrics that are out there now!

    Enjoyed your video. Love the variety of quilts, wool, and cross stitching. I am an Aida 18ct picture this plus stitcher PTP. I find luscious colors online at Rogue. Google it if you are not familiar. It is tighter weave. Hope you have watched Helen D an Aida PTP stitcher. Also like once upon a stitch. I just wanted to share 2 of my favorites. Your stitching is adorable. Look forward to more. PS love your hair.

      Thanks for recommending some aida stitchers! I will check them out. I have purchased one piece of the Picture This Plus, but yet to stitch on it...soon I hope. Thanks for your encouragement!

    I have my computer speakers up as high as they will go and can barely hear you - just a note for future videos. I stitched years ago, left it for 30 years and came back last year. Kept very few of my old patterns but did have a box of floss (now I have 4 boxes of DMC and 3 other types of floss hanging! ) I doubt I live long enough to stitch all my patterns yet keep amassing more! I too prefer Aida. 18 ct is my fav. I have used linen a few times and probably will again but not my fav.

      My grandma always said....the more projects you have the longer you will live!
      When you have you tube pulled up and a video playing, do you have the button on the video turned up all the way? Not the actual computer speakers but you tube sound, I am so sorry!

    Great first video…there is absolutely nothing wrong with using aida, I work on linen, lugana (my personal favorite) and aida….there’s no right or wrong in cross-stitch!
    Do what is comfortable for You and what makes You happy….Good luck with your endeavor❣️

    Like your projects. I use Aida too. Is that blue tape painters tape? Does it leave a sticky residue? My sewing machine is out of reach right now.

    • @UnfinishedStitches
      @UnfinishedStitches  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is painters tape. I find that it does not. That whale project has had the tape on it for about 7 years! I wouldn't use the highly sticky stuff tho. You can also use medical tape I hear. Never tried it tho.

      @@UnfinishedStitches and also what size hoop stand are you using. Looks like it is comfortable to,with with.
      Thank you.

    • @UnfinishedStitches
      @UnfinishedStitches  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I got the stand that has 3 sizes that are interchangeable. 5", 7" and 9" and it comes with 3 "legs" to connect whichever two you wish. There is one they sell with just two hoops, 7" and 9". I can get you one if you need me to order you one to put in my Etsy shop. Just let me know. They are not cheap, but I love mine. I have two of them.
      3 hoop $59, 2 hoop is $48.
