- Why did scarlet fever used to be such a dangerous disease, and why (although the burden of disease is far less than in years past) do outbreaks continue to occur, even after the development of penicillin?

My 3 year old son was diagnosed with strep throat and scarlet fever last week, he’s on antibiotics for 10 days. I’m so so thankful for penicillin
I'm here because my 6 year old son got diagnosed today. Ohio, USA
Scarlet fever 🤦🥚
My lil niece did as well this morning in Ohio
I got it at 19 in junior college. Had a swollen lymph node for like a month, nasty rash but penicillin was the ticket. The school nurse diagnosed it, was listening to my heart. I didnt have health insurance of course. And I dont think I even had the money for the penicillin but she hooked it up lol.
This is going round my school right now
😢❤
Had this 69 years ago. Apparently, it affected me more than my mother realized.
Hi! Did you get antibiotics? Or did you heal on your own? Can you elaborate how it affected you? I am worried because my daughter just got Scarlett fever.
Punitive prescribing laws. Identification is not simple at the early stages. Parents must demand a strep test.
I had it 1 week ago
I’m always sceptical of Americans & medical advice .
Thank goodness there was no medical advice .
Right !
