Great video. I bought Sea Monkeys in 1972 and they hatched and grew to look exactly like the depictions in the comic book ads. The males had no hair, the females had hair in the style of women in the 50s. And they played and smiled all day long. I had a mom, a dad, and three kids in my Sea Money aquarium.
A lot of people saying “they’re just going to eat eachother” or “they ate eachother” I once had a fish, left for a few hours, came home and it looked like it had exploded in the tank, and watched its fish mates eat its guts. They were goldfish.
😢 that's a really good project! I did a similar thing a few years ago. I think what was happening in your project was that the jeuveniles and mature individuals were competing for large feed particles and the adults were better at eating them. The generation in the eggs didn't have to compete and were okay but the generations bred in the tank from adults couldn't outcompete the adults for food and starved. If you try this again I'd suggest putting a grow light on the tank and dumping greenwater (water with floating algae) in there. The particle size is smaller so the adults will eat the feed and the jeuveniles the algae. I also wouldn't worry too much, 2-3 months is the lifespan of these creatures so they lived they're normal lifespan and those "connected" seamonkeys were mating, they only do that if they're well cared for so by all accounts you raised them happy, they lived a long life and died of natural causes.
1. They probably ate each other as fish normally do if there is a lack of food or nutrients, or competition. 2. Those fish were mating not stuck together lol
Don't worry! You did amazing! They just have a short life span! Please don't get rid of the two ones left even if they're dead bc they were mating and you could potentially have more baby sea monkeys

Yes I had one and I set them free into the Wilde one of them I was worried about because it didn’t fly off like the others but after I few more days I opened it again in my back garden and he flew away
I bought a sea monkey kit for a science experiment back in high school, and they ended up living for three years. I was so sad when the last one passed 😔
Yeah mine was a full on ecosystem, I didn't clean it out and algae built up nicely for them to hide in and birth their young. I must of seen at least 10 generations. It was like that one popular video of that sealed ecosystem in a jar that was constantly moistened and grew moss and all sorts
Just so you know.. the "water purifier" is actually the eggs and the "sea monkey eggs" are actually just ink to make it easier to see them, creating the effect of instant life. And the sea monkeys were probably mating, not stuck together.
When those last two sea Monkeys were attached they were mating. Mine did you same thing and hatched eggs. Now I've got more baby's and i hope these babys grow up and make more eggs🥳🥳🥰
tbh these toys really depressed me like they were living animals that little kids would over / underfeed, leading to a short lifetime, and despite the fact that they are living things, nobody cared anyway back to the vid

@@reefisgay I would forget to feed my fish because they would always be in a corner and they dont make noise so I forget about them, now I have a dog who barks at me every time I forget to feed him who also tries to bite me qhen I try to pet him.
WAIT DONT THROW THE TANK OUT, if the two were connected they were mating, meaning there are eggs at the bottom, a colony dies out after some time, but dont worry, new babies are ready to be born, if they dont hatch wait for the whole tank to dry out the water, then add the water again, I used to have aquadragons, they are from a different brand but I believe they are the same species as your sea monkeys! Best of luck!!!

I’ve seen something that like you should remove the Dead Sea Monkeys from the tank so like disease doesn’t spread. I did that with mine and it had no effect on them (just used a like dropper/ turkey baster to get em out, sad funeral). My Sea Monkeys were good until I decided to replace their water and clean their tank. Which killed them like two days later. But weirdly enough mine were attached like in the video before they died. I think it’s mating but idk. :P (edit: yikes that’s a lot of likes for this, uhm also sorry for saying the word “like” way too many times in one comment jeez. I’m also sorry if you are bothered by the slight rhyme of yikes and like.)
When cleaning the tank you probably took out a lot of benefital bacteria thats supposed to be there. Thats why bigger thanks need to be cycled before putting fish in.
Fun fact: the two sea monkeys that were attached was mating so if you removed the girl sea monkey and even if she died her eggs would still hatch hope this helped
mine are mating like crazy non stop and releasing so many eggs but not many are making it atm since my son had over fed and killed most but they won't stop trying to reproduce.♡
To the people wondering: Sea monkeys are the marketing name of what are actually called fairy shrimp They are primarily used for live food for stuff like betta fish. At the biggest, they should get about half an inch long and live for about 6 months if fed properly and stuff.
well hopefully if she embarks on another sea monkey adventure she'll be better equipped this time since people are still giving her advice to this day aha 🤞
When the sea monkeys are attached that means that they are breeding when the pregnant sea monkey dies do not remove their body. This is there so then the eggs can still grown into sea monkeys
If she didnt feed them for 100 days I'd be amazed. When I was younger I had sea monkeys that lasted about a year. They were so big that my dad helped me rehome them into a 5 gallon fish tank. They were about 2 inches long in length. I was in grade school at the time and fed them every single day like I was supposed to but one day, forgot because I was running late. By the time I got home from school, they were all dead in the fish tank. I was devastated. I'd like to think that she fed hers. Theres even medicine you can get for the little guys.
@@julissalangston9548 She probably didn't feed them, and you probably didn't kill yours because you missed one feeding bud. They probably got sick and passed away. It's not your fault, it sounds like you were a great mama to them. :'(

Hahaha yikes. Her describing them ✨disappearing✨ (read: starving and having to cannibalize each other ) reminded me so much of the time my 3 year old niece caught a butterfly and when she came to show me, she had accidentally crushed it in her fist. And then watching the last two mate just before declaring there are no more monkeys…
That was me. I was that child enthusiastic to show my family the butterfly I was never supposed to catch and then not having much to present by the time I got to them.
@@the_easiest_briezy5179 5 little monkeys jumping on the bed One fell off and bumped his head The mama called the doctor and the doctor said No more monkeys jumping on the bed
Well 1. The monkeys could have gotten eaten by the stronger bigger ones 2. Or because of the drastic change in temperature when sitting them next to the window could have caused them to die as well, then the others could have ate them.
Actually sea monkeys are not cannibalistic and I think what happened is that they are getting access food than the necessary amount causing bacteria to be increased in the tank. And the reason why she think they disappeared is because sea monkeys will change their colour to black when they decompose so that's why she didn't see them.
2 options that might have been it 1. When you cleaned the tank some of them came out and when you clean the tank they also die 2. The bigger ones where eating the smaller ones
Probably, I loved them when I was younger. I grown them for years. Also Triops (hope they get called like that all over the globe). Now, if I'm growing them it's only because they make great life food for my fish and decent small puffers.
@@graysondidsomething8967 right now I'm not doing ist. My Fahaka is to big for those already. He gets 2 to 3 crickets a day. But I have the small plan to get a Mbu soon too. The Fahaka ate Snails to fast, I dindt have enough time to breed them that fast
@@Ava-14 They are simply just reproducing as sea monkeys generally don't eat eachother. Even if they did it would probably be a misunderstanding or they would just be really hungry XD
My mum never let me get that as a kid cuz she said “you do realise they are just gona eat each other, right?” I was saved a lot of pain and attachment issues that day 😂
Not cannibalism. Sea monkey food don’t usually reach the bottom, being consumed by the adults. An easy way to fix this is to either move the little sea monkeys to a different tank until they mature, or to get food that dissolves completely in water.
Actually, the two left sea monkeys were mating. Meaning they were actually trying to breed more sea monkeys, and the sea monkeys probably didnt last long its because u don't have any plants for them to hide into and/or u didn't really cleanse the water properly if u ever did though. Tip: if you're ever going to take care of these type of species, get proper supplies like a proper aquarium and water, don't forget to do lots of research.
99% of people don't buy the kits(which come with that tiny tank) in order to have them as a life long pet. Most kids forget about them right after they get disappointed in how they look so they die within like a week or 2.
@@iatecinderella I mean humans outlive almost all of their pets, I'm not trying to be insensitive just being real. In the wild, either something gets eaten or it just dies..
The tank shouldn't have been moved around so much, and those two at the end were mating, they likely would've produced more babies if they were left long enough. Also improper lighting, feeding, etc may have contributed
@@CaptainTom_EW I cant give you a proper answer because I've never owned any, but there is a person on I believe TikTik who raises sea monkeys and makes content surrounding care for them. If I manage to find the profile name I'll let you know.
fun fact the “water purifier” actually the eggs (or dehydrated shrimp in survival mode) and the “eggs” are the dye to make them visible. This trick is used to make the 24 hour rehydration process seem instantl.
@@JamieNotLamie she could have read up on it before getting sea monkeys, and normally you would get sea monkeys before fish as a sort of training. And I mean removing the bacteria isn't equal to killing them

Well
1. The monkeys could have gotten eaten by the stronger bigger ones
Plus shes not suppose to clean it.

Noted. Thanks.
99% of people don't buy the kits(which come with that tiny tank) in order to have them as a life long pet. Most kids forget about them right after they get disappointed in how they look so they die within like a week or 2.

The tank shouldn't have been moved around so much, and those two at the end were mating, they likely would've produced more babies if they were left long enough. Also improper lighting, feeding, etc may have contributed
