      That's great advice! Actually, you did. The intro is a sound sample of the instrument. I'll make it a point to give a taste of the sound earlier in the videos in the future. Thanks for viewing and commenting!

    I just ordered this a couple of days ago from Amazon. This will be my 3rd Kmise brand ukulele, but my first Baritone strung DGBE. The first baritone was from Kmise, but it was strung GCEA, and it is a great one. I loved it so much I ordered one for my son. But hopefully, I'll learn guitar by having this ukulele. I enjoyed watching this video. :)

    Nice review! I don’t think the bridge will be an issue as it is also screwed in. I don’t look at that issue very often...something else to consider!
    Kmise/Aklot seems like it is raising their bar, which is good.
    I like the look of the sides of that ukulele...really nice pattern on the laminate!

  • @mssippijim

    I ordered this, one of the main reasons being the truss rod. Very important down the road if the action gets a bit high. I have a vintage Silvertone that has this problem and there is no practical way to fix it if it doesn't have a truss rod.

    • @stevesstrings5243
      @stevesstrings5243  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You could always just use it for playing with a slide. Of course, there is always the neck reset option. Unfortunately, on less expensive instruments, it is often not worth the cost.

    I think that relief is intentional. Most if not all guitars have a bit of relief built in.

    Do you think the strings could tolerate being tuned to GCEA? Love the content!

    • @stevesstrings5243
      @stevesstrings5243  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      No. You would need to restring it with a gCEA set for a baritone. Aquila 23U strings are made for baritones tuned gCEA. I have a couple of baritones with gCEA string sets but I find the string tension higher than I like. I have them tuned down to EAC#F#. I can use the same chord shapes, just in a different key. I prefer the lower string tension.

    I’m new to ukuleles but do you play the same chords on a baritone as if was a soprano

    • @stevesstrings5243
      @stevesstrings5243  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can use the same chord shapes but they produce different chords. For example, a C chord shape on a soprano is a G chord on the baritone and a G chord shape on the soprano is a D chord on the baritone.

      @@stevesstrings5243 good point. I just ordered it and that's what I plan on doing, playing my regular ukulele chord shapes that I already know realizing that any songs that are in the key of c on my regular ukuleles will actually be in the key of G on my baritone (if I keep the same chord shapes): ie, 5 half notes lower. But of course if I capo at the 5th fret, I'm playing my soprano ukulele again!

      I have gCEA strings on my spruce-toped Kmise. I usually have it tuned down to eADbGb, which affords a lower tone and less tension on the strings. When I tune it up to gCEA, the sound seems "choked" and the string tension is high.
