This tuning and this old traditional - and I has to say it again - your knowledge and talent, makes music alive! Thanks for sharing your gift with us! 🌱 Take care and be blessed! Kind regards from Germany again, Bettina

      @@sprugian Glad you like the 8 String Ukulele. Some renaissance guitars have 4 pairs of strings cause they play the melody on more than one string, and also they're nylon.

    Wow !... I'm blown away : such a beautiful interpretation of Greensleeves !! Is it a tenor or a baritone ukulele ? I'm presently investigating to find the best way to have a ukulele acting as a renaissance guitar, lol. I don't know what you exactly mean by "renaissance tuning" in this very case, but I'd go for something like Gg-CC-EE-A, or Dd-GG-BB-E (if a baritone), keeping the chanterelle single as you do. Thank you so much for the inspiration (and amazing playing skills !!)

    • @sprugian
      @sprugian  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for your comment Bernardine,it's a tenor ukulele,sadly i have no idea about the exact tuning i used,i mean in wich key...it's tuned like an ukulele in the intervalls and i removed all the thicker strings to make them like unison octaves and give that "baroque guitar effect" and yes let the chanterelle so that the main melody stands out more,it was a solution because i could not afford an expensive "Baroque guitar"

    What is the tuning? You play great

    • @sprugian
      @sprugian  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Thanks! i tuned it like a "Renaissance" guitar,it's still like a Uke tuned lower but with groups of double strings,so i just exchanged the octave ones to make groups of unison ones,wich create that beautiful chorus effect,also i removed one of the high strings, this makes the main melody stand out more :) so yes basically like a renaissance guitar,those are crazy expensive that's why i figured out this solution,cool thing i used the strings that came with the Uke,just did the regrouping

  • @RockStarOscarStern634
    @RockStarOscarStern634 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    That's pretty good. The Renissance Guitar and Standard Ukulele have the same tuning only that 3 of the strings (sometimes all of them) are doubled.

    • @sprugian
      @sprugian  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yes i know that

    • @sprugian
      @sprugian  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      i know that the notes are the same,the difference is that regular 8 string ukes have the octaves and another placement in the group wich makes Campanella playing impossible even if the high octave would be on top of the lower one,cause you would still hear it,that's why in Baroque guitars ,renaissance ecc..they use unisons,ahah i played all those instruments,so i know about it, and the very high string is mostly let alone in order to stand out for the melody,it's called "Chanterelle"

    • @RockStarOscarStern634
      @RockStarOscarStern634 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@sprugian I guess it's probably because the Ukulele came from that instrument when some musicians bought it to Hawaii. I'm working on recording Over the Rainbow/What a Wonderful World arranged by Roger Emerson (Ukulele Part) on my Roosebeck Rennisance Guitar written by IZ (who popularized the Low G Ukulele string) because I wanted to amaze people with what this instrument can actually play

    • @sprugian
      @sprugian  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you !! very kind,it depends how your 8 string Uke is tuned....i did a change to mine string wise,instead of having groups of octaves i made all unison,and removed the very high string,the idea is to make it sound like a "renaissance guitar" no modification is needed only regrouping the strings..sadly i don't know how to write tabs....all the best Jan :)

    • @sprugian
      @sprugian  5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      it's in fact the exact same tuning like an Ukulele just the whole thing tuned lower,from low to high: E double strings (like the high e on regular guitar) than A double strings (same as A second fret third string on guitar) than C sharp double strings(as second fret second string on guitar) and finally F sharp single string (as second fret first string on guitar) so basically E A C sharpF sharp,first 3 are double strings tuned exactly the same and the high single string is to bring out the melody playing out better,anyway you can play the same tune on a regular uke also since the positions are exactly the same
