    Excelente review ❤️ it’s very difficult to find kmise uke reviews. I already have one soprano uke from kmise and i’m waiting for the second which is a concert. Thank You for this video because you did present different sizes and models and all of them sounds amazing for a begginer or intermadiate level 🥰

    Thank you for the shout out...and thank you for the lovely review. I don't know if I mentioned this, but I'm back with the Caramels again, which are holding up, but need some more fret end work again. I'm not a fan of the look of Zebrawood...but they are little tanks that put up with a lot of abuse.

    • @UkuleleWales
      @UkuleleWales  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Chris, agree with you totally, for some reason the zebrawoods really are like tanks! Always going to mention you when it's deserved ;-)
      I am keeping an eye on fingerboards and frets but haven't spotted any problems so far.

    One year later. I've just bought another Kmise banjolele and classical concert uke. Due to arrive in a few days. Trying to bring some true culture to southern Idaho in the states. Maybe I'll start a ukulele school of my own at the tender age of 70. Keep up the good work. Loved your video. God bless from Twin Falls.! Tom

    Nice review of a big section of the Kmise line! I have a number of Kmise ukuleles (Kmise has sent me some to review on my TH-cam channel) and am very happy with them. As you pointed out, they have great customer service. The first ukulele I bought from them had some issues and they replaced it straight away. For the money, they are hard to beat!

    I bought the Kmise banjolele a few years ago. It is flawless. The only problem I had with it was that the action was higher than I would like. It had a 5/8" bridge, so I found a 1/2" bridge on eBay and bought it. That made it perfect. By the way, anyone interested in buying the banjolele should be aware that the instrument is shipped with the strings slack and the bridge not installed. You'll need to watch a video on TH-cam about installing a banjo bridge so it is located on the center line of the strings and at twice the distance from the nut as the distance from nut to 12th fret.

    • @UkuleleWales
      @UkuleleWales  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great info there and glad to hear you got your action sorted, nice solution.
      I've actually done a video on my Kmise banjolele and show how to install the bridge, I think Kmise actually send out a plastic strip now as well.

    Great video. I'm considering buying a Kmise as a beginner ukulele for myself. I wanted to ask about the tiger flame solid okoame model, the one which you said is your workhorse. Is it a solid okoame top or is it a laminate? How does it's sound compare with the spruce solid top?

    • @UkuleleWales
      @UkuleleWales  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Tricia, the tiger flame uke that I use ( a lot) was advertsied as solid Okoume top, back and sides. I can't really tell the back and sides but as far as I can tell, the top is definitely solid. In terms of comparison with the solid spruce top, I think the spruce ukes sound brighter but this could also be strings needing changing. In terms of volume, I think they are pretty much the same. Just remember, these are cheap ukes but in terms of playability, they are great, especially for beginners.

      @@UkuleleWales Thank you so much for your reply! I've mailed in asking Kmise the same question about their tiger flame okoume ukulele as well and they've replied saying that it is a laminate top for that model. Seems really well made and great to know that it's stood the test of time and all the daily batterings well which is good to know. However, I think I would be going for a Kmise solid spruce top model instead. Could I ask where did you buy your Kmise from? Would that be amazon or ebay?

  • @Kdnk422

    I love your accent! Thank you for the informative video! 👍 I am trying to get my very first uke and I am a complete beginner, so I wouldn't be able to tell if something isn't proper with the instrument, and would not have a good start. Could you recommend a model that had the least problems? Based on Amazon reviews, there seem to be problem with sharp frets and wrongly put or bad quality strings that keep getting out of tune. Or should I start with a different brand? Thank you~

    • @UkuleleWales
      @UkuleleWales  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi JK, ideally it is better to try out ukes in a shop if possible and then next best option is an online ukulele shop as you will get excellent customer service. If Amazon is your choice though, Enya, Flight, Kala, Donner, Aklot and Kmise are all brands I have played and recommend to beginners. As for Kmise, the Tiger Flame Okoume Ukelele model is a nice one, I've had mine 4 years and play it all the time. Hope this helps and please ask if you have any more questions.

    Hello Again, I have several Kmise Ukes. Three were gifts and one was free with an Amazon gift certificate. I used the certificate to get the Kmise banjolele. The only thing I dislike about it is the A string. It’s super buzzy, and ruins chords. Any advise?

    • @UkuleleWales
      @UkuleleWales  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Steve, is it the banjolele with a buzz. First things I would consider is slightly moving the bridge as that might solve it. Also, what is the action like on it - although most of the Kmise I've seen are pretty good. There are a LOT of bots that might need tightening, sometimes the buzz might be being caused by just the frquency. Sorry about the delay, another hectic week! Let me know if you are still stuck.

    The first Uke you showed looked like a Ukutune UKE1. Are these companies the same?

    • @UkuleleWales
      @UkuleleWales  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Many of the ukuleles made in China are being made by the same factories and then branded with different names. I've checked out the Ukutune and agree it is identical to the Kmise. I don't really have any more info, I've been buying Kmise ukes for over 4 years so know their quality, interesting though, especially consdering the price difference.
