For the visuals, i think that disney is trying to be the most realistic possible(especially for the backgrounds), while pixar is slowly trying to stylise its movies like in turning red or luca for example
True, but funny how that leads to Disney ending up with idealized visuals (majestic landscapes, model body types [albeit they are sloooowly loosening up there], cleaned up anthropomorphic animals) while Pixar has the more every day body types, plain but still wide and real land/cityscapes, and dares to make its animals fuzzy (= "not relying on cute"). A story with pretty magical beings in a (more or less) historically (and architecturally) accurate environment by Disney may look more surreal and fantastical than a story about ...living cars set in a world that is a freaky (less accurate, often exaggerated) superficial (stream-lined?) replication of ours. However, the lines are (beginning to get) blurry - visually, tonally and thematically. [Edited bc I accidentally tried to make Ratatouille a pure Disney movie, which serves to stress my last point XD)
Weird for me it's the opposite. Sure Disney is very stylized, but grounded in real world anatomy and the aesthetics of drawings, paintings and dolls. Disney humans at the very least skew more humans like in an idealized way. While Pixar is more radical in their human design choices. Mr.Incredible, Captain McCrea, Mama Coco and the like are more cartoony compared to a Flynn Rider, Elsa or Hiro Hamada. It's only Lightyear in my opinion that went full realism.
Its true about the endings in Pixar. While the story wrapped up, you can tell the characters aren't done going on with their lives and struggles. We even see after credits in Pixar movies showing that the characters still trying to adjust with their lives.
Right on point. This is why they make incredible sequels on top of that. Although the main conflict is resolved, there is still so much for the characters left which can be incorporated in another film.
I feel like disney have fully princess theme fantasy land, lovers, something that not going to happen in the real world but Pixar have more reality based story's it not always happily ever after. I do more appreciate Pixar because of their carcheters how they looks.
What I don't like about Pixar is how much they anarchy the reality that it feels utterly childish. Like, house floating on balloons, a girl is transforming into panda and everyone is like okay with it. What I like is world development. In Moana, Encanto, frozen I know its fantasy land anything could happen. Even in frozen, reaction of citizens to sorcery is very real. Compared to turning red or Luca.

I feel like the inclusion of lgbtq stuff isn't necessary for either company to do considering its for children and nothing about a person sex is going to make a better for them
It’s NOT about sex, It’s about representation so kids can see themselfs and/or see how normal is to have all kinds of love, not just the same and old hetero love that has been shown and forced on us in every single media. Having lgbtq stuff won’t make the movie better but won’t hurt either…
The aim is representation. To show that it's okay to be different, to spread acceptance of different genders and sexualities. To show that they have the right to like what they like and not be ostracized for it. Boys can like feminine things, girls can like masculine things - it's their freedom to choose. It's not just about sex.
The thing is Disney story are more self-aware based, a hero's journey while Pixar's story involves many characters, a sense of community based stories not just the self
Nice video. I enjoyed seeing the differences between Disney and Pixar. And I think with Disney their characters and storylines in movies. Aren’t always relatable. While with Pixar their characters and storylines are relatable. Because they face relatable situations
I love both of these for these exact reasons, both very important factor, because without disney we wont learn about some lessons, and without Pixar we wont learn about others. They both have an important role, we always have to think realistic but keep an open mind.
Ngl, Disney gives me a more curious and mysterious fantasy feeling while Pixar nails the playful and childlike feelings for me. It’s like I can casually watch Pixar anytime and have a great time but it has to be the right day and moment of feeling to watch a Disney movie for that magical feeling.
I’m more of a Pixar fan is it might seam. But usually I have a soft spot for my Disney princesses once in a while. When Time is right for a classic, I will go deep into depth into the movie when I’m watching it, but when is over. I will put on a Burt Reynolds movies to cleanse my soul, meaning of Smokey and the bandit. That’s all I have to say.
If you think about Buddy Pine, aka sindrome, is like what could have happened to mha/bnha's main protagonist Izuku Midoriya, aka Deku, if he had given up on being a hero and went villain. It's cool to see would could have been in something other than a bias fanfic!
one difference between the two: Disney makes bad movies, and Pixar makes shorts that are better than most Disney movies. a fact: since Disney bought Pixar, Pixar is slowly learning to make the corny characters like Disney does. example: elemental, where it says "Elements dont mix!" and the fire girl is like "wow I hate that rule im going to be the person to change it and make the world a better place!" which is basically a lot of Disney characters like in zootopia
I think Pixar gives*more personality* to characters and *dosent just give them one personality trait and work around it*. For example, Mei-Mei from Turning Red has two personalites: fangirl and perfect kid. Another example is that Elsa, from Frozen only had ice powers to make her stand out. Nothing else was really given that stands out. And, like you said, Pixar *does give random ages to people and show that heros can be of any age, any race* meanwhile Disney only has like 3 brown or black princesses. And only 1 is chinese so in my opinion they should also do a better job at race and ages. *:)*
I will regret if I don't post this The frase "With great power comes great responsibility " did become popular with marvel But it wasn't first mentioned in spiderman nor in the whole marvel (not sure about the comics sry) It was in 1985 movie "Teen Wolf" Moreover that movie was where Pixar got the idea of "Turning Red"(love the cartoon but still) And there are more of that stuff, they take lines and ideas from 80s films ALL THE TIME (look at Rick and Morty and time mashine for hells sake) I'm sorry if I sound like a jerk, but watching through most of old films we can definitely tell that no monstrously new ideas have been made. Kinda heavy if you put it that way, but we can find every idea of a "brand new film" in timeline from 60s till 80s Love your videos, especially this one ❤ I am 15, I love pixar even more than disney for the cartoons, but after watching smth new and rewatching films from the past I would definitely say that they rerun all the ideas over and over again
Yes, Turning Red takes much from Teen Wolf (which starred Micheal J Fox). And Cars takes much from Doc Hollywood (another film that starred Michael J Fox). Of course, Rick and Morty takes much from Back to the Future (yet another Michael J Fox film).
Personally, this is why I prefer Pixar, the representation, not tying up everything in a neat little bow, and so on. I just like more realism and how the body types in their movies are more realistic :]
Want some relax story to watch, enjoy an old fashion fairytale style with an epic happy ending = Watch Disnay Want some heartfelt story, need some thinking and reflecting on life or an inspiration = Watch Pixar Best choice = Watch Both
Disney characters have no sense of friendship, like we barely even see friendships on the screen, Disney only sees lovers as worthy protagonists, they don't think that a friendship is really good while Pixar has the most amazing balance between romance and friendship, from Toy Story, Luca to Turning red. They have never shyed away from protagonist that aren't lovers. Toy story is what I mean by a good balance, there's enough romance but it doesn't make one dirft away form Buss and Woody, but the love stories always stay prominent.
Silhouette is one of the most important factors in designing characters. The shape that people see with the silhouette gives them personality, or places that they are supposed to be. For example, in how to raise a dragon, Hiccup has round and thin shape. On the other hand, Hiccup's father has big square shapes. And we can clearly see why they chose those shapes. Which, Disney lacks. Pixar have good examples of Silhouette in "Inside-out", "Soul" and "The Monster Corp" Another reason is to identify the characters only by their Silhouette. People unconsciously recognize things by silhouettes. So giving clear silhouette to characters gives them strong characteristics, easier to recognize them. Good example of this is of course, Pokémon. Do you remember in animations, they ask "who's that Pokémon?". They only show you the silhouette, and you recognize them right away. So, all I want to say is..... I like Pixar better than Disney. But I do like both of their animation graphics though.
Disney is a part of my soul... Alice in Wonderland, Sleeping Beauty, The Little Mermaid, Lion King - there are too many gems to count. I do enjoy Pixar's movies as well, but I find them not as memorable for me personally. I now see I tend to gravitate toward the magic, panoramic sweeping scenery, and highlighted fantasy elements. Did not care for Turning Red though. It was truly painful for me to watch. Very informative video!
I like Pixar more than Disney. Say what you want but man, ratatouille inspired me to cook dishes. And after years of practice in my home, I can make pretty good dishes now! Everyone can cook :D
I would really love a video discussing deep details of Encanto compiled togather instead of some arbitrary theories which make no sense. Like during dinner scene, adults except pepa have wine and children have what appears to be fruit juice. This is plot relevant because obviously, children should not drink. And, in case pepa gets hungover, she can flood entire town. During what else can I do, I always thought Isabela got her new powers during this song. But, I realised that Isabela already had powers to make crazy plants but, she wasn't allowed to. I mean she was already making wines which is not a flower. Abuela knew that Isabela can produce such wild plants and pressured her to only produce nice flowers. Because when Abuela sees Isabela after the song, she is like "Out of control". Does that mean she was controlling her? Another line which hints at this theory is that, Isabela says: "What could I do if I just knew it didn't need to be perfect? It just needed to be? And they'd let me be?". They referred to whom? This clearly confirms that she is being pressured to not to produce figs, hurricane of Jacarandas. Also, the fact that Jacarandas and Palma de Cera are less delicate plants than Flor de mayo and roses says a lot about the stprywriters of this movie. We don't talk about Bruno has so many details I can write an essay. I am writing some uncommon ones which few people know. Felix says "Abuela brings umbrellas" so she preferred bringing umbrella instead of comforting pepa. The way surrounding sounds contribute to music like chest tapping, glass breaking, sound of steps, etc. There is also iconic foreshadowing at the end. Isabela and Dolores singing I am fine, I am fine.... These are just songs. There are even more subtle details throughout the movie which I am forgetting also, my comment is already too long. But, do include these hidden details which I wrote here.
There is only one disney movie that I know which is more like pixar, but it isn't. That's Brother Bear. That movie is an emotional rollercoaster, it's beautiful, and not princess or romatic love central. And there isn't a real villain. If you read this and haven't seen that movie: please take a look at it!

I feel like the inclusion of lgbtq stuff isn't necessary for either company to do considering its for children and nothing about a person sex is going to make a better for them
Agreed
It’s NOT about sex, It’s about representation so kids can see themselfs and/or see how normal is to have all kinds of love, not just the same and old hetero love that has been shown and forced on us in every single media. Having lgbtq stuff won’t make the movie better but won’t hurt either…
Yea
The aim is representation. To show that it's okay to be different, to spread acceptance of different genders and sexualities. To show that they have the right to like what they like and not be ostracized for it. Boys can like feminine things, girls can like masculine things - it's their freedom to choose. It's not just about sex.
In disney films, the characters sing
In pixar, they don't
I think an obvious one was missed. Disney movies almost always have a female protagonist and Pixar movies almost always have a male protagonist.
I think Disney is aimed toward girls and Pixar is aimed towards boys because Pixar has cars superhero’s toys
The thing is Disney story are more self-aware based, a hero's journey while Pixar's story involves many characters, a sense of community based stories not just the self
pls write pixar where ever pixar movies are used
✅Noted for next time!
Yeah, the "xyz lets gravity decide this" trope. Villains do tend to fall to their deaths with alarming frequency
Disney is…okey but DREAMWORKS
Nice vid!
Also as u said . Ppl love buyinh their fav characters ' as pixar made cars . Toys the incredibles . U got the point
Disney= You might cry
Pixar= Waterworks are Mandatory!
4:03 it's fantastque vs fantasy
I can't even distinguish between a Disney and Pixar movie
I think Pixar gives*more personality* to characters and *dosent just give them one personality trait and work around it*. For example, Mei-Mei from Turning Red has two personalites: fangirl and perfect kid. Another example is that Elsa, from Frozen only had ice powers to make her stand out. Nothing else was really given that stands out. And, like you said, Pixar *does give random ages to people and show that heros can be of any age, any race* meanwhile Disney only has like 3 brown or black princesses. And only 1 is chinese so in my opinion they should also do a better job at race and ages. *:)*
Disney movies are almost always adaptations of something else, while Pixar is always (I think) original ideas.
In my opinion I love Pixar
that's why Pixar's movies are amazing!
When "Brave" got Best Animated Feature over "Wreck-It Ralph," I declared that the most Disney-like Pixar movie beat the most Pixar-like Disney movie.
I will regret if I don't post this
The frase "With great power comes great responsibility " did become popular with marvel
But it wasn't first mentioned in spiderman nor in the whole marvel (not sure about the comics sry)
It was in 1985 movie "Teen Wolf"
Moreover that movie was where Pixar got the idea of "Turning Red"(love the cartoon but still)
And there are more of that stuff, they take lines and ideas from 80s films ALL THE TIME (look at Rick and Morty and time mashine for hells sake)
I'm sorry if I sound like a jerk, but watching through most of old films we can definitely tell that no monstrously new ideas have been made. Kinda heavy if you put it that way, but we can find every idea of a "brand new film" in timeline from 60s till 80s
Love your videos, especially this one ❤
I am 15, I love pixar even more than disney for the cartoons, but after watching smth new and rewatching films from the past I would definitely say that they rerun all the ideas over and over again
Yes, Turning Red takes much from Teen Wolf (which starred Micheal J Fox).
And Cars takes much from Doc Hollywood (another film that starred Michael J Fox).
Of course, Rick and Morty takes much from Back to the Future (yet another Michael J Fox film).
LOVED this and you got all the good point down!
Personally, this is why I prefer Pixar, the representation, not tying up everything in a neat little bow, and so on. I just like more realism and how the body types in their movies are more realistic :]
For some reason i don't enjoy the singing every 5 minutes 😂😂😂😂
Want some relax story to watch, enjoy an old fashion fairytale style with an epic happy ending = Watch Disnay
Want some heartfelt story, need some thinking and reflecting on life or an inspiration = Watch Pixar
Best choice = Watch Both
the DisneyxPixar movies are the best
Personally even on older pixas films they still feel good that might be because i grew up watching them tho so idk
Tbh I prefer Pixar over Disney
They're both amazing though :D
Yeah, no. We do not need more of number 12. Keep those agendas to yourself, people will flock to movies with a real story to tell.
Coco is the only movie I thought Disney made it fully by themselves...it has a happy ending and good musics
did this guy just try to tell me that Luca is lighthearted? Ercole tried to commit murder
Pixar is more likely to have living parents while Moana and Enconto are very rare
Rattatoiulle will stay my favourite of them all :D
Silhouette is one of the most important factors in designing characters.
The shape that people see with the silhouette gives them personality, or places that they are supposed to be. For example, in how to raise a dragon, Hiccup has round and thin shape. On the other hand, Hiccup's father has big square shapes. And we can clearly see why they chose those shapes. Which, Disney lacks. Pixar have good examples of Silhouette in "Inside-out", "Soul" and "The Monster Corp"
Another reason is to identify the characters only by their Silhouette.
Oh dear... THe time when Disney was actually dependable and timeless....
I like Pixar more than Disney. Say what you want but man, ratatouille inspired me to cook dishes. And after years of practice in my home, I can make pretty good dishes now!
Everyone can cook :D
I understand all what you said in the video and it turns out all my fave movies comes from pixar, not disney 🤣
I belive Luca is what we all needed - a breather in a heavy world :)
Another line which hints at this theory is that, Isabela says:
"What could I do if I just knew it didn't need to be perfect?
4:27 Did...did dude just say we're soulless...
This is why I like Pixar better.
the main different is that Pixar makes good movies
Disney writes fantasies. Pixar writes developmental journeys.
So what was Brave then? That’s a Pixar princess.
