Great list. I agree with your rankings for the couples in the movies I’ve seen. 9:37 Hi Kifinosi! Based on the sequel I’d say this relationship improves and should be in Good Tier.❤
Can you do: DIsney/Pixar/Dreamorks villain and henchman relationships: Healthy to toxic Nickelodeon/Disney channel/Cartoon network relationships: Healthy to toxic Also, if anyone has a great idea about Healthy to toxic topic on 1upbinge, Bloodbinge, and Otakubinge, please tell us (me or wickedbinge).
Nah. Shrek and Fiona may be the relationship many have, but they’re not the ONLY type of realistic. Astrid and Hiccup are realistic and model what healthy communication looks like vs the constant shouting and Shrek domineering Fiona (and while he eventually apologizes, he still remains incredibly insecure and never truly changes his behavior. They don’t grow together.)
@@anonymousfellow8879 How was Shrek domineering? They had their ups and downs in their marriage and a little before but that was due to Fiona and Shrek being a victim of societal expectations, so they had a skewed view of love and the means you have to take to be deserving of it. It's why Shrek was so baffled by Donkey's insistence on associating with him in the first movie, because he was raised being told that he's a monster and will never truly integrate in fairy tale society. He was born a outcast according to people like Fairy Godmother, and she treats him as such. His insecurities aren't unjustified, and he never pressures Fiona into trying to mold herself into something she's not for his sake, as a matter of fact he went as far as to turn himself into a hunk for her; the complete opposite. Shrek and Fiona had like two arguments, one was after he was basically racially profiled by King Harold during the feast scene, and the other was in the 4th movie after he smashed that kids cake, which he learned his lesson after having everything taken away from him. I honestly don't know why you're trying to make it seem like their relationship is toxic when it's not, both of them had a ton of baggage and that wasn't just gonna go away just because they got together.
Justice for Kenny from bee movie! He did nothing wrong yet his girlfriend kept that bee around despite Kenny clearly saying he’s allergic. Kenny even saved his friend from eating that bee too. Kenny deserves so much better!
Kenny was the only normal person in the entire movie. He was the character everyone would be if their partner decided to talk to bees and help them sue humans in court. I mean if I had a partner and they decided to flirt with a bee and call me crazy I would probably act like he did
To be fair, Shrek and Fiona both had very hard back stories and traumas that they'd never fully get cured from... and they both had to sacrifice a lot for their relationship. Frankly speaking, they both have a very healthy relationship. We have this delusion that good couples shouldn't argue or arguing is a bad thing... but that's not necessarily true. What matters isn't how much you argue, but how you deal with it... Getting mad at each other and yelling at each other is a good way to let out your feelings and irritations... and many couples can actually benefit from that. You just need to make sure that you and your spouse are able to handle that. Arguing a lot isn't a bad thing... it can actually be very healthy for some people... of course, for others, it can be very tiring... I think it's just sad that there is only one type of couple/person that we feel is acceptable... but let's be real... being unable to yell and share your feelings can be just as bad if not worse than yelling...
I don't think that's the case at all. Shrek and Fiona are good because they work on it. Like the arguments don't end in a line in the floor they end in resolution. Which is great considering they don't give up on eachother.
@@galacticicestar8663 that's actually a good point. The way I see it it's the same how it works with families; of course you're going to argue, especially siblings, and relationships between child and parent is even more complicated. It seems healthier when a child argues with their parents on something they disagree on than for them to bottle it up ther feelings and fell like they have no choice. Then both parties are aware of how the other feels and can work on it. Same with couples; bottling it up will cause problems and maybe resentment.
In light of the forementioned lies, I think it was smart of the writers of Megamind to end the way they did, because here's the thing. Megamind and Roxanne are never explicitly shown getting back together. The pair share one romantic kiss, just before the disguise is blown, and that's the last unmistakably romantic moment we see from them, everything else can easily be chalked up to close friends, including that little peck on the cheek at the very end. Lingering feelings aside, it's totally possible that Megamind and Roxanne had agreed on a break while he worked on himself and she figured things out on her end, and nothing would be happening until _she_ is ready to talk since she was the victim.
@@startygernebulla2088 I mean, yeah. Because she does get rightfully upset with him and while she supports him as Megamind in the end, he doesn’t “all better Gets The Girl, anyway” (which is such an aggravating trope and just perpetuates Male Entitlement OMG.) We get to see they have chemistry, that Roxanne isn’t a dormat, and see them patch things up at least platonically. That’s enough to be Aight👍🏼 with them potentially dating again post-credits-they KNOW they have work to do (especially Megamind) but they’re able to still support eachother vs continue to enable or become a Yes, Honey that so often happens to women in Problematic Couples (both in fiction and IRL.)
It really leads you to believe that even if they did get back together, they'd have to kind of start over and build up from where they were! Not just immediately run off to get married.
I always comment to everyone, one time and another, in every comment section out of TH-cam and inside TH-cam, about how fans of any franchise need to stop creating and adding things that are not confirmed. You are forgetting that in the first scene when Megamind is falling, he is telling the story of a man who always fail to get the girl, which implies Megamind get the girl at the end, and by doing what you said is almost as an incomplete finale. I always tell everybody to stop making theories and ask the creators. In any case there is a sequel coming out, if the writers are the same as the first movie then we would have an answer without the need to ask.
I absolutely love Shrek and Fiona’s relationship because it breaks that cookie cutter perfect relationship with no conflict that movies tend to portray. Marriage is not easy. You’ll make mistakes, push each other’s buttons, and say things you don’t mean. They push through because no matter what, they love each other and want to be together.
Maybe. But it's not healthy. Partners should talk things out gently instead of yelling and running away... Shrek is Ogre, so it's understandable, but tzeir relationship is not healthiest
I'm just gonna say Stoick not marrying another woman is serious dedication. Hoping one day they would be reunited again which did happen, but unfortunately did not last long. The flashback scene where Stoick says he doesn't want to marry again because Valka was the only woman for him, really does hit hard, especially after watching the second movie.
That's the thing though, he didn't hope they would reunite. He thought she was dead. To him, Valka was his one and only love, the one no one else could compare to. He never remarried, never chased another woman, because his heart simply wouldn't have it. He loved her so much that he could never consider a life with anyone else and threw himself into his work as chief.
Honestly, I don't think Valka deliberately faked her death to be with the dragons. To me it seemed that Cloudjumper saw the rest of the vikings as hostile enemies, so he arguably carried off Valka to ensure that she was safe from them, not realising that she was one of them. Sure, she didn't come back, but yeah, just wanted to point that out. That's what it felt like to me. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong lol.
She definitely should’ve returned or found some way to reassure her husband and son that she was alive, and deeply regrets that…but is also understandably anxious and bitter about how polarized the vikings are-especially her husband-and…presumably just never gets around to it because she quickly gets incredibly busy with her own mission (ie, classic avoidance) She also has to live with the regret that Stoic never stopped loving her *despite* them having polar opposite views…and because she never came home, she lost him days after their reunion and reaffirming of their vows. Her husband-although incredibly stubborn and bullheaded and it admittedly took 15 years to come around-was capable of coming around
@@The_Tide1 Trying to guestimate time elapsed in films between scene changes is often more art than science (and it’s admittedly been like 7 years since I watched httyd2)😅
In the movie Valka literally explains that cloudjumper abducted her, and her not being able to return from fear that things may have gone wrong, and her being to busy with her mission to help the dragons. Honestly they had a healthy relationship, they just got separated for so long. And its impressive that even after all that time, they still love each other in the same way till Stoicks dying breath. I don’t agree with where their relationship status was put, but that’s just my opinion. I’ve been a fan girl of the show for over 5 years so I should know lol.
@ANGEL BABY no this isn't correct she explained that she didn't go back because she was afraid of putting her people especial hiccup in danger. During the flashback she explains the guilt she felt not being able to kill the dragon and her son and husband almost dying because of it. Unlike hiccup she didn't have someone to reassure her that she hadn't failed her family or people. Volka was wrong yes, but she did it out of fear not for herself but for her family.
Honestly I think puss in boots 2 moves puss and kitty into the healthy category it took all of the issues they have in the first film and expands upon it in a very realistic and mature way showing that despite their chemistry they weren't ready for a serious relationship until they both did some work on themselves individually. So when they get back together in the second movie not only is extremely satisfying but there's a sense that they are truly committed now and that they are ready to be the partner that the other person needs. They're still the same people just more mature versions. They honestly might be one of my favorite dream works couples because of the growth they go through over the course of their two movies.
The question is, where do they place in the healthy relationships? Do they displace any of the top three? Who gets displaced from the top three? And how is the top three ranked afterwards?
They forgot Poppy and Branch. I place them in the gray area due to 1. Their constant bickering and opposing ideals that often causes them to but heads 2. Poppy’s lack of listening skills as well as her oblivious nature in general 3. Branches lack of communication skills when he tries getting through to Poppy at times along with his closed off; pessimistic nature in general. They obviously love each other and they grow between the two movies and try to improve their flaws. Branch supports Poppy as much as he can without enabling her and putting her in her place when she’s wrong while Poppy tries her best to include Branch in things as well as acknowledge when she’s wrong and does her best to make things right
Hiccup and Astrid are my favourite fictional couple ever(not just animated, fictional). Astrid was the first person to realise that there was something up with him when he got better at dragon training. She was the first person he showed his beliefs about dragons to and she wasn't stubborn in believing in him when she was shown evidence that everything they knew about them was wrong. She tried to protect him in the ring when things went to shit and she comforted him (albeit in a bit twisted way) and made him realise that he was more than the screw up the village believed him to be. Time and time again they protected each other and looked towards each other in times of need and understanding. They understand each other and have so much trust in each other that the first person they look towards, the first person they shout for is each other. They know they have each others back, even before they got together- which didn't even happen until the 4th season of rtte, meaning 6 seasons and 3 years of having established that trust and friendship before finally getting together (and believe me when I say it took painstakingly long). Not only that, they can actually talk with each other. Astrid has always been interested in what Hiccup has to say and Hiccup has always been interested on what Astrid has to say (apart from a few times coughcoucghheatherreportcouchcoughmiamorewingcoughcough). Even when they seemingly had some issues, they were able to talk it out and resolve the issues well and they were able to look at their past mistakes and learn from them. And if you have ever watched the series you would know that the things they have said to each other are just so endearing and beautiful and if my future relationship is not like this what. is. the. point. And let's not forget literally everyone shipped them in the series. Even the people who were seen as 'love rivals' at one point. Them getting married and having kids honestly made me, a die hard httyd fan, cry because it was probably the best ending we all wanted for them. (And their kids are just adorable) Thank you for coming to my ted talk.
IMO the deleted scene with Astrid and Hiccup in Gobber's shop is my headcanon. Since it implies that Astrid has at least taken an interest in Hiccup as a person (You don't just act like she does in the scene if you're not interested in them on some level). It also would go a long way to explain why Astrid actually notices Hiccup's behaviour as well since, y'know, she's actually paying attention to him even before the training.
@@tcrpgfan I remember that. But I think she has actually been noticing him since before training. It's really subtle though. I think they deleted the scene because Hiccup was checking Astrid out or something. (Though I might be wrong. It's a while since I've seen it)
@@persialionheart It was just cut for time. I mean, if her slow-mo introduction in the first movie doesn't count as him checking her out, I dunno what does.
I don’t think it was really fair to rate Sherman and Penny in the toxic area, Penny was only toxic from the beginning, but then improved herself till the end of the show. And there wasn’t much screen time, plus they were kids, so in my opinion you shouldn’t really rate them at all.
I remember in the Monsters Vs Aliens TV Show, Susan met Derrick again and he said “now that you’re normal, we can get married”(or something like that) and she responded by growing tall again, explaining to him that she’s normal regardless of her height, and that he can take a hike That moment was so powerful
dreamwork's couple dynamics are so amazing, I love how they don't make females overly feminine or men overly masculine- like there are couples where the females are the more physically strong partner in the relationship and the men are more gentle and willing to step aside and let them do whatever, it's always been so amazing to me that they're able to normalise that dynamic.
Every Animation Studio should try and normalise it. It's more realistic, and it makes both sexes happier due to inclusiveness. As for LGBTQ+ people, I'm not gonna speak for their emotions or feelings due to not being part of the community myself, but I'm sure they'd appreciate a bit more representation. Not overdoing it, but something to at least acknowledge them.If DreamWorks can make the protagonist of a movie LGBTQ+, I have no objections. I just want the movie and it's relationships to be as good as possible. I hope this has not offended anyone. If it has, please reply so I can fix it. Have a good day Yours Sincerely Some random dude on the internet
I think Oscar and Angie should've been just out the top three. They really did care for each other after admitting their feelings. I think you should've put Oscar and Lola on this list, and as the most toxic. She didn't care for him, at all. She only loved his money. She was even getting revenge at the end, by telling the sharks who he loves. That's much worse than Oscar and Angie.
I completely agree with you. I love that trope so much. Astrid from the How to Train your Dragon franchise, Poppy from the Trolls franchise, Fiona from the Shrek franchise, etc.
The prince of Egypt definitely should've been included. Moses and tzipporah both insulted/hurt each other in ways, but were still incredibly supportive and defended each other. Tzipporah went back to were she was imprisoned to help Moses and look out for him. Gorgeous relationship.
I was really hoping that you’d talk about some of the 2D couples like Moses and Tzipporah, Tulio and Chel or Sinbad and Marina. But then again, talking about Tulio and Chel’s relationship would require talking about *that* scene, which I’m not sure you’d be willing to do.
@@101k_with_no_video Alright. Since no one else will say it, I will: Under-the-camera oral sex. They’re both still clothed, but it’s pretty blatant where Chel had her mouth when she comes into Camera View in a panic. It completely sails over kids’ heads, but an older audience knows EXACTLY what’s up. There’s also the queer-coding of Miguel and Tulio-the crew wanted them explicitly apollian. 90s-00s Censorship said Absolutely NOT-so include THAT SCENE with Chel (aside from both men being sexually attracted to her, so definitely bisexual) and, Tulio’s essentially cheating on Miguel with Chel in that scene. The writing with Chel’s guilt about it and Miguel’s hurt and anger following That Scene emphasizes this. By the end of the film, though… -Miguel accepts Tulio’s and Chel’s relationship and/or -arguably the three of them are now a thruple (remember: Miguel’s sexually attracted to Chel as well, and Chel flirts with both of them. Only Miguel doesn’t want to cheat on Tulio, Tulio apparently doesn’t see them as exclusive, and Chel’s wanting to bang either of them (but is a bit more attracted to Tulio, especially since he’s more receptive than Miguel.) So…the issue isn’t the Heavily Implied oral sex in a “family movie.” It’s the tension all three haven’t exactly worked out yet (then sacrifice ever being able to return to El Dorado in order to protect the city’s inhabitants from Cortez. So they’re now alone with only eachother and a horse for company until they wander into another nation of people (or more conquisotors) sometime later.)
With Shrek and Fiona, its normal to argue (at some degree obviously). Even after they argued in the second movie Fiona looked for him when she woke up and he was missing. Meanwhile Shrek did realize he messed up and wanted to make up with Fionas dad and even change himself entirely for her happiness.

Gotta say my new favorite dreamworks couple has to be Mr. Wolf and Diane Foxington, they were just sooo cute and I like how there relationship grew during the movie but they didn’t over do it with the romantic aspect and just kept it cute ya know? Really hope to see more of there relationship in a future sequel🤞🤞🤞
Eh. They’re pretty standard. -female seduces male -male repeatedly rescues female. They’re incredibly heteronormative with Human Gender Roles Super Imposed For Random Romantic Subplot. There’s a LOT Spirit does RIGHT (and is unfortunately forgotten), but the Horse Romance To Keep Conservative Parents Happy (in a movie that’s Pro-Indigenous Nations + The US Army Were Assholes, Actually) was not one of them. That’s…pretty much the only reason why Rain Exists and the Horse Romance gets a lot of Middle Film Screentime as a montage…so I get why it’s there. But it’s still forgettable, boring, and made me roll my eyes as a kid and go “if THAT’S what mlf rrrromance looks like, Not Interested.”
Hiccup and Astrid are my OTP, ultimate favorite couple. I agree that they deserve the gold for healthy. They had their fights but worked through them. I don't know many couples that match their bond in strength
I would’ve switched the bronze and gold toxic couples. At least we know that Oscar and Angie care about each other, they were friends before they got together. The whole reason he got with the gold digger, Lola, was because he thought nobody would love him when he was a nobody. Besides, Oscar was oblivious to Angie’s crush until she told him, and then took her words to heart when he thought he was alone. Mrs. Tweedie treats that poor man more like a work horse than her husband, there’s not any love there.
@@pervertedstoner69reborn70 It can be funny at times (mainly because of the acting), but the characters are uninteresting or unlikable, the animation is ugly, and it has dated references.
@@zrexy79s11 in all fairness, tho, every company was making a Godfather-ish movie at that point in time. The Italian mob trope blew up in the early 2000s.
@@kimikolee7313 I know, and I feel like it could have handled the story better. A mafia movie about sharks sounds fun, but they execute it in a way that makes it hard to watch.
The relationship between Wolf and Diane reminds me a lot of the one between Peter Venkleman and Dana Barrett in Ghostbusters. Both movies even end with the two couples driving off into the distance with the rest of their team, ready to start off a new phase of their lives.
Yeah! Hiccup and Astrid for the healthy couple gold! Love these 2 (and the series) to pieces! However, u forgot about Poppy and Branch from Trolls. They're one of my other favorite Dreamworks couples and their love is definitely note-worthy for this chart.
I completely agree with you here. Even if they don't start out the healthiest, they try to improve their ways to become a healthy couple. One reason I love Broppy so much is because they're so adorable.
I just love how everyone understands Shrek and Fionas relationship Its not always about the reoccurence of arguments since its not avoidable(dont care if it aint a real word) but how both resolve it together and learning from their mistakes Also just because some relationship in films show less bad sides doesnt make it healthy
Sherman and Penny is kinda unfair on this list. Not only are bother of them young, but Penny was slowly transforming from an antagonist into a heroine.. and their relationship barely starts....
Stoic and Valka should've gotten higher since Valka didn't run away, she was taken by the dragons. She didn't come back when she was able to, but that's because the Berk vikings hadn't changed. They still deeply loved each other and Stoic showed that he cared more about having Valka back than being angry at her not coming back. He completely understood why she didn't come back and accepted that he could've been more open minded from the beginning.
I’m happy to see that Sherman and Penny’s shipping isn’t in the toxic area. Maybe they could get healthier as they grow up, after all they’re still children, and sometimes couples start of as victims and bullies. There’s gonna be a second Chicken Run movie?
Pretty sure Valka didn't run away but was rather "kidnapped", to a certain extent, by Cloud Jumper, who feared for Valka's life, seeing how little she resembled the other Vikings, hence why she didn't have a chance to take Hiccup. She loved Stoic and Hiccup way too much to just up and leave them both.
Actually if you look closely enough, you can see that Mr. Tweedy pushed the barn door to flatten Mrs. Tweedy after she survived the gravy explosion. I guess that boot mark on his backside was the last straw...
He did it by accident. He just opened the doors and told her "I told you they was organized" to which after growling in anger the door fell on her. So Mr. Tweedy didn't push the door down on Mrs. Tweedy.
I expected Shrek and Fiona to be discussed sooner, but you made fair points on why they’re lower. I called who would be the most wholesome, as for most toxic, I completely forgot that movie.
Just an update on the whole "Puss and Kitty" situation: It gets healthy. I won't spoil anything but, through the second movie, Puss ends up coming to terms with a number of things and they end up pretty strong as a couple. As for Megamind, I mean do you expect him to just walk up to Roxie and be like "Oh, hey, I know I kidnapped you a ton, killed the city hero and terrorized you all for years, especially within the last few weeks after the, you know, murder of Metro Man, but you wanna go get coffee?". Megamind was justifiably scared of how she'd react to the truth, as seen when he broaches the topic in the restaurant. He was seeing if maybe she'd love him for who he was, villain et al, because he was scared of losing her. A lot of people hide aspects of themselves from loved ones because they're afraid of rejection. And "evil villain who killed a hero and terrorized a city for decades" is certainly something only the weirdest or craziest wouldn't reject.
I suspect if Bad guys get another movie, itll be them meeting Mr Wolf's parents, idk but DreamWorks really likes to be the sequels to be the main character finding their parents😂
In training for marriage counseling, we are always taught, “If the couple is screaming and arguing with each other, there’s still a chance since they’re still communicating, albeit unhealthily. If they are not arguing or communicating at all, then the relationship is doomed.”
Something that bothered me about Roxanne and Megamind was that Roxanne really wanted nothing to do with him until they found out MetroMan was not coming back... Suddenly she needs Megamind... If not for that, I dont think their relationship would ever have taken off.
For those counting She-ra, I'm gonna count Perfuma/Scorpia and Spinerella/Netossa on high end healthy, Entrapta/Hordak as borderline Healthy/Grey Area, and the ever popular Catradora to be even lower than Oscar and Angie (with 99% of their problems stemming from Catra's physical and emotional abuse, and Adora forgives her anyway)
I think Valka and Stoic probably to belong mid tier, but not because she "ran away" Valka had been taken by Cloud Jumper. She didnt fake her own death, the dragon took her. Her time before this she spent trying to convince people dragons were not the beasts they seem. She wasnt regarded well because of it. And most importantly, Stoic didn't listen or try to listen to her about it. Yes he had the safety of his family and village to look out for, but I highly doubt the man would hear a word of it even in peaceful times So when a dragon takes her, brings her back to the alpha and shows her more. You'd think she could march up there and tell them, "Hey look, a dragon took me but I'm fine" BUT IF THAT WOULD HAVE WORKED THE ENDED OF THE FIRST MOVIE WOULDN'Y HAVE NEEDED HAPPENED. Stoic is stubborn to a dangerous fault and is shown in the show as well. As horrible as it is, Stoic needed to be shown in a way he understood that Dragons were different. Not through words but by action. The TV show touches more on this that Stoic is not a person you reason with by words, (I mean he can but on topics he feels incredibly strong about like dragons or whats best for the village) you have to physically show him or do the thing that you are trying to convince him of. That is the real reason I think they belong in mid tier, Valka's passiveness in this, accepting that her husband would not see a different way, and Stoics stubbornness. His unwillingness to change kept his wife away and also almost drove his son away in the first movie
Personally, I appreciate how real Shrek and Fiona's relationship is. Even my Mom and Dad fight from time to time, but I don't think that means they aren't great together. I think Shrek and Fiona were done dirty with this ranking
Idk why they didn’t include Poppy and Branch. He has a crush on the f***ing queen! Update: THEY BECAME A COUPLE!! BROPPY IS CANON!!!! LET’S *GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!*

@@Bionicle2007 It's a TV show that DreamWorks is planning to stream on Peacock next year. It's about Megamind learning on the job how to defend the city properly and makes a blog about it as the world's first superhero influencer
You know, just seeing this video now, and having watched the puss new movie... He's definetely at the good tier. The whole movie is about several kinds of love, not fearing to love and uniting in love. Be it family, friendship or romance, love can be hard, but can also fun and help you in other parts of life. No one lives alone.
The one of Mr. Peabody and Sherman is the one I hate the most as relationship. Ok sure she helped him being more confident and believe in himself, she did some good, she helped him from not being scared because of Peabody influence who made him feel like he couldn't do anything, in fact everytime Sherman "messed" up wasn't because he wasn't able to do it but because Peabody psychologically influenced him (probably he didn't realized he was doing it) into thinking that he wasn't able to do certain things alone. However Sherman crush started in a point that absolutely make no sense. She bullied him, she insulted him and his dad, continued to call him a dog and to fetch and the way she bullied him was really cruel coming from a kid. When he bit her they give the fault to Sherman because she acted like the victim and they believed her for the big sad eyes and because Sherman dad is a dog, which makes it even more to her favor. When they go to save her from the Ancient Egypt she was still the same mean bully from the start however Sherman already had a crush on her and only later on she was actually likeable. If Sherman fell in love with the kinder side of her that appeared later on in the movie I would have understood that, he saw her in a new light and thanks to her he made some improvements with his independence and confidence. However at the start he literally had no reason to fall in love with her and it makes absolutely 0 sense, it's like saying: It's normal to fall in love with your bully. I didn't liked that, because even if kids it's literally a mini version of abusive relationship and as someone who ended up falling in love with their middle school bully it's just horrible. Right now that I'm a adult I realized how toxic that crush actually was and I don't think they should encourage that in Mr. Peabody and Sherman, some kids might be more influenced than others and won't realize that the relationship Mr. Peabody and Sherman tried to make started as toxic and abusive and this could bring kids to be influenced and think that a relationship where you verbally or physically get abused/abuse someone is right. Also in the old/original Mr. Peabody and Sherman her only interest is actually Mr. Peabody (not romantically and if romantically it's the classic childhood crush that every kid for some reason have on someone older without knowing what love actually is) and ignored/probably treated Sherman bad while in the "new" adaptation she was slightly more likeable.
I always thought Moses and Zephorah from The Prince of Egypt were the best DreamWorks couples, then The Bad Guys came around and change my mind on that. Now Wolf and Diane are consider the best DreamWorks couples ever.
IMO, I would probably have to give Oscar and Angie the bronze medal because at least it's shown they still love each other, unlike the two couples mentioned before it

George and Jeffery - They tried to kill Cruella and to incriminate Jasper and Horace for burning the building and didn't care when Cruella told them to spare her and that Baroness is the terrible boss 1. Baroness Von Hellman - She is easily the most evil character in the movie and she tried to kill her daughter multiple times and killed multiple people in the past including Cruella's adoptive mother
At first, the relationship between Sherman and Penny was toxic but it thankfully got way better. Come to think of it, Sherman and Penny reminds me of Jimmy and Cindy.
Just want to say it's precisely BECAUSE Shrek & Fiona are not a healthy couple that makes them so iconic. Or, at the very least, it's what makes them the most INTERESTING as a couple. The top three are all allowed to seem so perfect for each other because the romance isn't a main plot point. Shrek & Fiona, on the other hand, have their romance front and center of the plot... Pretty much through all four movies. Not just because they have a lot of personal differences, but because they live in a whole world that all but outright conspires to break them up. The phrase that links all four movies together (if anything) is "Ogres do not live happily ever after". And all four villains -- Lord Farquaad, Fairy Godmother, Prince Charming and Rumplestiltskin, all aimed (some more directly than others) to prove it. So... Yeah, of course theirs is a difficult relationship. Which is why we went to the theater four times to see more of it.
Not the best, but the most interesting Puss/ Kitty. They both had problems, which they were able to overcome together at the end of the second film. Puss was narcissistic and afraid to die, but decided to value his last life and live the rest of his lives with Kitty. She didn't trust anyone and wanted Puss to be someone she could trust. They corrected themselves)
Beautiful countdown! I love the subject of romance in general, no matter what kind of media it appears in. Oh, and I wonder where would Spirit x Rain, Tulio x Chel, Alex x Gia and Toothless x The Light Fury rank? Again, this is a lovely list.
@@aequitad4411 It makes sense since their interactions aren’t human so it’s hard to justify about whenever or not their interactions are healthy or toxic (Honestly I suck at explaining things like that)
If I had a nickel for every time Dreamworks featured an interspecies romance between wildly different species, I'd have at least three nickels, which isn't a lot, but does make me question their fetishes.
Hiccup and Astrid is quite possibly the best animated couple ever. Right up there with Rapunzel/Flynn and Belle/Beast in my opinion. They have realistic struggles, we see good growth as the movies and show progress, and they have a great fun/affectionate side too.
In defense of Valka. She didn't fake her death and most certainly didn't abandoned her child. She loved both Stoick and Hiccup so much, that she decided to step aside. In the second movie she says that she wanted to came back, but she knew her being close would cause both her soon and husband many problems. Just how her love for dragons caused her. And even though it was painful for her, because she had to leave her family, had to agree to her soon becoming a dragon killer and her husband suffer. Even though, she loved them enough to sacrifice everything, just to make sure she's not making their live harder than it already was. She though that what she did was for the better. Obviously we know it wasn't, and Hiccup ends up being bullied and all she wanted to protect from. But still, she did that because of love. That's my cannon ;)
This is my first time seeing this video. I agree with this list, but I’m surprised that you didn’t include Poppy and Branch. When this video came out, only Trolls 1 and 2 were out. If you had included them, I feel like Poppy and Branch probably would’ve been in the low gray area. But now that the 3rd one is out, I think they probably would be either low healthy or high gray area. Their relationship in the 3rd movie is definitely the healthiest that we’ve seen. Branch has always been the one more open to listening and showing support for Poppy’s decisions as a queen and friend, although he probably shouldn’t have enabled her for as long as he did in the second movie. Since the 3rd movie focuses on Branch, Poppy became the listener and the supporter and she honestly does a really great job. She’s patient with Branch and doesn’t rush him into talking about his past with his brothers. She continues to support Branch even when he decides to leave his brothers after they won’t show him any respect. Poppy was actually one of my least favorite characters in the Trolls franchise, but she was actually very likable in the 3rd movie. Both Poppy and Branch grew as individuals and a couple in the 3rd movie. I hope that if you ever decide to redo this list, you’ll include Poppy and Branch (and maybe even Bridget and Gristle)
I am mostly surprised to agree with many choices. I especially loved your choices in each section. Like for gold, I am a huge Hicstrid fan 🥰 as well as Wolf and Diana (hoping to see more in more features 🥰). And I was surprised with Melman and Gloria, and surprised their time in the Valentines special wasn’t mention (but if you were focusing on films then that’s okay), and was speechless with Shrek and Fiona’s place, probably one of Dreamworks successful film couple got almost ranked off your list 😲. And for the grey, interesting choices, like Puss and Kitty, it is hard to explain (especially for the Netflix series) yet not hated. The toxics, I guess they have proof to be there so no complaints there. To end it, really surprised as to no Poppy and Branch/Broppy. Guess they didn’t get enough “screen time” for proof 😅. Hope to know how you feel of them because I am a huge fan of their love but so dreading how it’s shown in the Hulu series (spoiler alert: NO CHEMISTRY IN A CHILD SHOW 😫).
You didn't even mention Spirit and Rain from "Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron" those two should have been included because their relationship is evident throughout the film, after they meet for the first time.
I disagree Megamind and Roxanne was iffy at first but that was because Megamind was secretly insecure in a lot of ways: plus if he didn't lie he would get rejected as soon as he started - he didn't really have a choice. Plus, he redeemed himself with her and they were a really cute couple at the end!

Puss and Kitty's relationship gets pretty good! Spoilers- From what I've seen with a single watch, Puss opens up a hell of a lot during the second half, and Kitty's admits to some stuff, and they slowly get back together. The test of trust was definitely, well, tested but by the end, they are most definitely a pretty good couple, though they stay in the middle area.

Shrek and Fiona just have a more realistic relationship, we all say and do things that we don't mean.
True.
Yes!
@@anonymousfellow8879
How was Shrek domineering?

I've heard that it's healthy in an relationship to argue because it makes your bond stronger sometimes
@@gred_and_forge definitely resentment
O yes it's better to just let it out instead of living in a fantasy not even you believe
Though we ship them as a canon couple anyways 🤗
@@startygernebulla2088
I mean, yeah. Because she does get rightfully upset with him and while she supports him as Megamind in the end, he doesn’t “all better Gets The Girl, anyway” (which is such an aggravating trope and just perpetuates Male Entitlement OMG.)
We get to see they have chemistry, that Roxanne isn’t a dormat, and see them patch things up at least platonically.
I like this idea.
Exactly

She definitely should’ve returned or found some way to reassure her husband and son that she was alive, and deeply regrets that…but is also understandably anxious and bitter about how polarized the vikings are-especially her husband-and…presumably just never gets around to it because she quickly gets incredibly busy with her own mission (ie, classic avoidance)
She also has to live with the regret that Stoic never stopped loving her *despite* them having polar opposite views…and because she never came home, she lost him days after their reunion and reaffirming of their vows. Her husband-although incredibly stubborn and bullheaded and it admittedly took 15 years to come around-was capable of coming around

Trying to guestimate time elapsed in films between scene changes is often more art than science (and it’s admittedly been like 7 years since I watched httyd2)😅
Was looking for this command. I think you are completely right
Right?
The question is, where do they place in the healthy relationships? Do they displace any of the top three? Who gets displaced from the top three? And how is the top three ranked afterwards?
Yea thats fair (ik im late) but if i had to pick a favorite dreamworks movie couple, it would definitely be Poppy and Branch. They are so adorable
They forgot Poppy and Branch. I place them in the gray area due to
1. Their constant bickering and opposing ideals that often causes them to but heads
2. Poppy’s lack of listening skills as well as her oblivious nature in general
3. Branches lack of communication skills when he tries getting through to Poppy at times along with his closed off; pessimistic nature in general.
They obviously love each other and they grow between the two movies and try to improve their flaws. Branch supports Poppy as much as he can without enabling her and putting her in her place when she’s wrong while Poppy tries her best to include Branch in things as well as acknowledge when she’s wrong and does her best to make things right
makes me relieved that their relationship is better in the show
So true

It's a while since I've seen it)

dreamwork's couple dynamics are so amazing, I love how they don't make females overly feminine or men overly masculine- like there are couples where the females are the more physically strong partner in the relationship and the men are more gentle and willing to step aside and let them do whatever, it's always been so amazing to me that they're able to normalise that dynamic.
By the end of the film, though…
-Miguel accepts Tulio’s and Chel’s relationship and/or
-arguably the three of them are now a thruple (remember: Miguel’s sexually attracted to Chel as well, and Chel flirts with both of them. Only Miguel doesn’t want to cheat on Tulio, Tulio apparently doesn’t see them as exclusive, and Chel’s wanting to bang either of them (but is a bit more attracted to Tulio, especially since he’s more receptive than Miguel.)
So…the issue isn’t the Heavily Implied oral sex in a “family movie.” It’s the tension all three haven’t exactly worked out yet (then sacrifice ever being able to return to El Dorado in order to protect the city’s inhabitants from Cortez.
Shrek and Fiona the Grey area yep

I'm glad that Mr. Wolf and Diane are in the Bronze medal for the healthy DreamWorks couples :3
Edit: i don't want to say it but MOMMA I'M FAMOUS
Gotta say my new favorite dreamworks couple has to be Mr. Wolf and Diane Foxington, they were just sooo cute and I like how there relationship grew during the movie but they didn’t over do it with the romantic aspect and just kept it cute ya know? Really hope to see more of there relationship in a future sequel🤞🤞🤞

I agree, though I prefer to follow the sequel book's plots.
Yesss🙏✨
Y'all have forgotten Spirit Stallion of the Cimmaron, it's a DreamWorks film as well. Spirit and Rain are a pretty good couple.
Eh. They’re pretty standard.
-female seduces male
-male repeatedly rescues female.
So true!!!
Yes, on my top 5 best DreamWorks couples, along with Branch and Poppy, etc.
Hiccup and Astrid are my OTP, ultimate favorite couple. I agree that they deserve the gold for healthy. They had their fights but worked through them. I don't know many couples that match their bond in strength
I would’ve switched the bronze and gold toxic couples. At least we know that Oscar and Angie care about each other, they were
friends before they got together.
Is Shark Tale really that bad?
@@pervertedstoner69reborn70 It can be funny at times (mainly because of the acting), but the characters are uninteresting or unlikable, the animation is ugly, and it has dated references.

While the first movie doesn’t really show anything romantic for them, the second movie…Seems like Branch has a crush on the queen! 😏
The fact that Barry and Vanessa are on this list has me rolling
Plus the fact that they're ranked as healthy 😭

Yes even though it's zoophilia at worst. Thankfully, they have not been in an actual relationship otherwise it would be beastality.
YA LIKE JAZZ?
That’s the weirdest DreamWorks couple, but ok?
One example of Shrek love for Fiona, was in Shrek 2, when Shrek was willing to give up is Ogre ways to be with Fiona. That shows he cares.
Having said that, couldn’t they have done all those Ogre activities while being in human form?
I just love how everyone understands Shrek and Fionas relationship
Its not always about the reoccurence of arguments since its not avoidable(dont care if it aint a real word) but how both resolve it together and learning from their mistakes
Also just because some relationship in films show less bad sides doesnt make it healthy
Shrek and Fiona are a realistic couple with realistic problems.
That's why everyone loves them, and why they're a great couple
Sherman and Penny is kinda unfair on this list. Not only are bother of them young, but Penny was slowly transforming from an antagonist into a heroine.. and their relationship barely starts....

Stoic and Valka should've gotten higher since Valka didn't run away, she was taken by the dragons. She didn't come back when she was able to, but that's because the Berk vikings hadn't changed. They still deeply loved each other and Stoic showed that he cared more about having Valka back than being angry at her not coming back. He completely understood why she didn't come back and accepted that he could've been more open minded from the beginning.
She left her son behind, pretty selfish
I'm pretty sure he did that by accident, though
I genuinely love the mr wolf and Diane banter and relationship and I hope the bad guys get another movie and get to explore the relationship
I suspect if Bad guys get another movie, itll be them meeting Mr Wolf's parents, idk but DreamWorks really likes to be the sequels to be the main character finding their parents😂

After Puss in Boots 2 came out, I think it's now fair to put Puss and Kitty in the healthy category
Yes he had the safety of his family and village to look out for, but I highly doubt the man would hear a word of it even in peaceful times
So when a dragon takes her, brings her back to the alpha and shows her more.
I’m curious as to where you’d put Branch and Poppy from the Trolls franchise, and if Puss and Kitty’s spot changes at all after seeing the movie

However at the start he literally had no reason to fall in love with her and it makes absolutely 0 sense, it's like saying:
It's normal to fall in love with your bully.
True. Mr. Wolf and I got a big relationship.

Cruella (2021): Good To Evil
The Good
1. John - He saved Cruella from being killed by Baroness multiple times
2. Catherine Miller - She took care of Cruella to avoid getting her killed by Baroness
3. Anita Darling - She was always a good friend of Cruella unlike the most of kids
Artie - He saved Horace and Wink from George who tried to kill them
Grey Area
Principal - He held a grudge against Cruella but he only did that because he thought that she is a bad kid
Buddy and Wink - They are both very nice dogs who truly care for their masters and saved them from trouble many times and could easily qualify as Good if they weren't assisting their masters in stealing stuff
Jasper and Horace - They let Cruella join their gang and saved her from worries but still were stealing stuff from others
Cruella - She is the most complicated character in the movie as she was a sweet but disobedient kid at first who turned into a full-fledged villain later and even was rude to her companions in one period but still loves them and saved them from prison
Dalmatians - They were Baroness' attack dogs who killed Cruella's adoptive mother Catherine and possibly many other people before her but they were only listening their master and became good quickly after they were removed from Baroness' care
Bad To Evil
Gerald - He was a huge jerk to Cruella and disapproved and mistreat her
3. School Bullies - They were doing much terrible things to Cruella from the beginning
2. George and Jeffery - They tried to kill Cruella and to incriminate Jasper and Horace for burning the building and didn't care when Cruella told them to spare her and that Baroness is the terrible boss

You just threw up half my childhood in this comment
Shrek and Fiona aren't a bad couple, they're a realistic one
Puss and Kitty's relationship gets pretty good! Spoilers-
From what I've seen with a single watch, Puss opens up a hell of a lot during the second half, and Kitty's admits to some stuff, and they slowly get back together. The test of trust was definitely, well, tested but by the end, they are most definitely a pretty good couple, though they stay in the middle area.
There was more romantic and awsome dance scenes of theme in first one so
Why isn't Alex and Gia in this? I think Alex has quite the character development once he falls in love with Gia
I feel like Oscar and Angie should’ve been at the bronze medal of toxic because the other two couples were terrible to each other and they some what hurt each other while Oscar and Angie didn’t do that except only when Oscar lied to Angie
I like Shrek and Fiona who are parents of Fergus, Felicia and Farkle from the Shrek series.
Sony Animation Romantic Relationships Healthy To Toxic

Unhealthy: Dracula And Ericka
Toxic: Elliot And Giselle
