during the last few weeks of her life my wife and I listened to this many times together, it still makes me sad and happy but I'm pleased we shared this time as one.
One of the most moving pieces I've heard. When she plays this, I get goosebumps all over. Thanks for posting this magnificant piece by one of the greatest violinists.
This performance is so beautiful it brought me to tears, I recently read the story behind the music and this really feels like the inner struggle Thais had with her self over choosing God or the man she was starting to love
Bravo, Bravo, Bravo. Can't think of anyone but her who could get away with an interpretation as sentimental as this one without going overboard. Anne-Sophie Mutter - beyond words. You ARE music.
Bravo.
UNA GRAN VIOLINISTA, VIRTUOSA DEL VIOLIN, CON GRAN SENSIBILIDAD I SABE TRANSMITIRLA AL PUBLICO, LE DESEO TODA LA SUERTE DEL MUNDO!! GRÀCIES POR LOS CONCIERTOS TAN MARAVILLOSOS, HE TENIDO LA SUERTE DE DISFRUTAR ALGUNOS. MUCHAS GRACIAS! !
I first heard her recording of this piece when she was younger, and in full orchestra. Seeing her play this in person only made me love her more. It's like this piece was made for her. 🥰
Extraordinaire Anne Sophie. Je suis uruguayenne.
Her expression at the end is priceless. She looks like 'god, i can play that so much better. I've done this piece so many times and this isn't even my top 10'. Big smile please, because everyone in the audience enjoyed it!!!
Gorgeous treatment of this beautiful piece .I have listened to lots of renown violinists and they all seem to do this justice. Whoever you choose is a matter of taste I suppose.
Owhooooo..... so touching ... you left me speechless with your perfect touch on your violin. Sweet music always remind us of the past. And I kept replaying it for several times. Bravo... Anne-Sophie Mutter & Lambert Orkis and thanks to Penderecki12.
I am 37 years old and just started learning the violin 2 1/2 months ago. I wish it were something I desired 30 years ago. I've always loved the sound and said one day I would give it try. Well it is every bit as difficult as I suspected but I truly love it and desire with all my heart to be able to play it well. I'd give about anything but my soul to be able to play like this talented lady. For those of you who know the Lord please pray for a supernatural intervention on my behalf. Or at least be in agreement with me. I am practicing quite diligently but I feel that without the Lord's help I will never be great. Thank you
You chose the right piece to practice while looking for supernatural intervention for this is the music which accompanied Thais' spiritual epiphany. It is laced throughtout the third act of the opera. It has something to do with awakening...you'd be best advised to catch the show when it comes to town. They don't do it all that often though.
Either your lord wants you to play, in which case you don't have to pray, or he does not want you to play...in which case praying is futile. We all know the lord makes no mistakes in his grand plan....so....just play and stop worrying!
Magnificent composition. Magnificent performance. Sidebar: I was Market Square in Pittsburgh in the early summer evening. There was a young woman playing her violin for whatever she could get from those sitting at tables in the square. She was close by and I listened and quickly realized how great a player she was. I then asked if she knew Meditation on Thais. I sat there and watched her for awhile and then closed my eyes. The sounds coming from her instrument transported me to another state of consciousness for a few seconds. In that brief window the sound, the performer and myself became as one. That's the only way I can describe it. When she finished I remember looking into her eyes and saying thank you SO much. I gave her what for me at the time was a large tip in gratitude. She belonged in a symphony orchestra. I hope she has since found regular employment since I heard her. Wow!!
Después de que la primera persona tocó "Méditation from Thaïs", llegaron más personas distintas tocándo "Méditation from Thaïs". Cada una con su estilo diferente. La música es interpretación.
Anne-Sophie Mutter is one of the best violinists of our time. Shes is such a great musician and has a very nice personality. She and Sarah Chang are my favorite female violinists. If you can speak german, look at this: Anne-Sophie Mutter - Dynamik eines Welterfolges
What is great about her vibrato is that she changes it. So many violinists only have one type of vibrato, but Annie knows that you can change a mood if you change the vibrato. A slower vibrato can sound more romantic or sad, for instance. I love that she varied it all the way through the piece and told a wonderful story.
Great, emotional... It took my breath away, and I had a lot of goosebumps... I was looking for a version because I must learn this piece. Well, I sure am far away from playing like her, but she gives me so much hope and will to play it nicely. I must work hard ! And that vibrato... a masterpice!
A most extraordinarily unique heavenly interpretation! A Perfect rendition, so expressive with that rich sweet sound with such control, gorgeous inner phrases. I loved how you slowed it down in so many spots as you nursed each and every note to it's finest quality. Of all of the finest violinists of the past sixty or more years, I like yours the best!!
compare this with her 1976 recording and you can really tell this is a more mature version. her glissandos are so powerful and her wide vibrato isreally emotional. and her facial expression! this is one of the best recordings, i swear
during the last few weeks of her life my wife and I listened to this many times together, it still makes me sad and happy but I'm pleased we shared this time as one.
What a touching tribute to your wife. This piece moves the soul.
arguing all day who is the best is pointless. this person at the time played it perfectly. absolute joy!!!
Merci Anne Sophie.
She brings out all the nuance of the music and makes it speak in a way that is unmatched
One of the most moving pieces I've heard. When she plays this, I get goosebumps all over. Thanks for posting this magnificant piece by one of the greatest violinists.
She is an extraordinary musician!!!!
This performance is so beautiful it brought me to tears, I recently read the story behind the music and this really feels like the inner struggle Thais had with her self over choosing God or the man she was starting to love
She really knows how to interpret 'romantic', no flourishes just the essence of feeling.
she is truly one of the GREATEST violinists of all times....plus very beautiful, talented, hard working...
I cannot but agree that she is one of the greatest violinists of all times..
Mozart
Listen to Perlman.. Then we can talk again
@@christopherhogan691 Perlman is great, just as is Anne-Sophie Mutter... why try to make everything a competition?
A great performance by this violinist. A pleasure to watch and listen to her perform. She has excellent back-up too.The audience agree wholeheartedly.
I'm playing the same song for my aunts wedding.... Anne Sophie Mutter is really good!
Really loved the tempo here. Every accelerando and ritardando was absolutely heavenly. She's amazing.
This piece is so soothing and brings hope to the spirit, it elevates you to the peak of the soul...
I like everything I have seen her perform...she is a wonderful artist.
this actually brought me to tears...there's so much feeling there--it's absolutely amazing
Quelle immense artiste...
A versão mais linda que já ouvi! Emocionante!
So powerful and with incredible intense expression yet so sincere and pure !!
Thanks also for this post !! Thank you!
Bravo, Bravo, Bravo. Can't think of anyone but her who could get away with an interpretation as sentimental as this one without going overboard. Anne-Sophie Mutter - beyond words. You ARE music.

I listened to him and it sounded like a recital, absolutely no competition for Anne !!
I’m not saying that there aren’t other great players of this piece...but I am going to say that this is the absolute best interpretation of it for me!
This is stunningly beautiful!!!! Classical Violin is easily my favorite!!
So Great my beloved ASM, I grew up with you and always loved you always 🙏😇🎻🇫🇷❤️

Who can dislike this? It's perfect.
I have flashbacks of my childhood when I listen to this music. It brings back happy yet at times sad memories.

Increible la interpretación cuanta emoción.
for me, The best interpretation ever!!! :')
There's a very rich lushness to her use of vibrato; a very vocal interpretation. Nicely juxtaposed with a restraint that calms.
She is my favorite violinist.
I dig this woman. Fantastic musician.
wonderful soulful...
Geez,
a whole muinete of applause!
Mutter is great!
Magnifique...
Merveilleuse.
Maravillosa interpretación!!!!!!!
her vibrato is the best
Maravilloso sublime te hace sentirte mejor persona
I wish I could say something worthy of this performance, but all I can think is "holy shit this is good"
Mutter is the only one that can make feel breath to her violin
Professor Richard Dawkins’ tweet brought me here. Stayed because of this masterpiece.
Grande violinista o violino toca a alma.
