I have the Supertramp and I have the sand scorcher. Now here is the deal I have an eight-year-old daughter and obviously she loves to hang out with daddy and I’ve been doing this since I was 13 and you’re correct. My first car was a grasshopper. I mowed so many lawns and had a paper route and the paper route that I had you had to roll the little newspapers up and I loaded about 80 of them in my bag and I would throw them at the house as I rode by. The little newspaper was called the reporter. I’ll always remember that job had to get up at four in the morning, and by the time I went to school I had 80 of those bad boys out and I remember the smell of opening up that grasshopper box. I remember taking out the hump pack throwing it onto my. I believe it’s MRC black charger winding it up 15 minutes waiting for that battery to charge up Putting it in my car and driving around With the 380 motor. And I tell you, I still remember going over to one of my friends houses and in there the father was up RC modular and had many parts thrown all over the place and there I saw it wouldn’t come off of it it was a 540 motor with the pinion gear and the dad said do you want it and I said sure , And I left my friends that I was playing with, and ran straight home, opened up the car, slapped it in there, and in my haste, I forgot to put the two back screws in the body shell my car, the grasshopper did a wheelie drag the large wing portion of the grasshopper shell and crack the shell right along the seam of the front two screws my mouth was on the floor and I was almost in tears to drive around almost the entire summer with just the front of the car just the front end of the grasshopper screwed in with nothing else and I don’t understand why I didn’t superglue the thing back together, and make no sense to me. Now all I need to do is a superglue to shell back together put a decal over the cracking nobody would’ve known anything , but needless to say, the rest of the summer is what it took me to be able to afford the hornet body set and I’ll still remember as a teenager I painted the inside of the shell with a paintbrush and black paint not even a spray, can I tell those stories to my children but so far my daughter has asked me for Christmas. It was the sand scorcher but I couldn’t afford that I’m a single dad, so I got wild Willy and she loved it and that was the Sorcher but I couldn’t afford it, so she got the glitter beetle and she loved it , and then she asked me the next Christmas for the Sorcher and I was able to have my local hobby shop put it on layaway and every week I go in there and drop some money on it and I was able to buy it for and I remember her face as her jaw hit the ground, and I never gotten such a strong hug from a kid in my life and then something funny happened after she opened the box she wouldn’t let me break any of the blister packs so that was one entire Christmas ago and I don’t mean this year that passed I mean the last year before this she opened up a Blackfoot she’s been asking me for cars since she was four years old and every time we finish building one she makes changes to them like paint scheme and they all stay on the shelf and she only drives one , wild Willy,. She has built Tara scorcher, she has built obviously the wild Willy, the blitz or beetle, Blackfoot, monster, beetle, black edition, neo fighter, Volkswagen, Carmenia, on the MO5, And all of those have been driven once or twice, and essentially just sit on the shelves because she is the one that really went through and we went over every single step and I helped her with every single step so she has built a lot of buggies and she’s the one that always asked me. When are we getting another one to build there’s something about the instruction manuals and the box art that is very addicting I realize.
that’s awesome… I tried to get my daughter into RC years ago but she doesn’t really care about it.. she’s 20 now and asked me the other day if I could build her one… I was like 😒
