The Sand Scorcher was my very first surface RC having ordered it from Tower Hobbies when it first appeared back in 1979. Apart from replacing orange for blue on the body, I built the car exactly per the manual. It was winter and the days were short so I fitted the headlights and tail lights with tiny incandescent bulbs from the model railroad hobby. I used a Futaba two-stick radio and the car was tremendous fun to drive. When I started racing in the late 1980's, I rebuilt the car as a dirt oval racer fitting it with a Dodge Daytona lexan body. The car handled horribly and I was never able to sort out problems from that quirky suspension so I eventually sold it. I very much regret having done that.
Anyway, I'm gonna enjoy your build series very much. Prices for the Sand Scorcher re-re are utterly ridiculous at the moment but finding one to build is definitely on my bucket list.

Liked before watching! I'm restoring a MK1 Scorcher and looking forward to all your good advice for doing the best build.

Well certainly looks as if you'll be busy this winter.

It seems like EVERYONE has been getting a Sand Scorcher lately... I may finally have to try to take the plunge!! Love the packaging. My Globe Liner came with the Blister Packs as well. Lovely touch.

Do you think this body would fit on a 1/10 crawler

The wheelbase is a little short, but if you don't mind some suspension work they work a treat
