I really need to catch up on Mercy Thompson! Ahaha, I feel you on the covers though. I started reading the series in high school on my dad’s recommendations, and a lot of the time I’d try to find a way to hide the covers if I brought them to school. 😂
Fun recap! I gave 2 Stars and a rare DNF to Red Sister-not horrible just not personally compelling, and it’s good to hear the second half continued to feel repetitive since that makes it feel like I made the right decision. Thanks for getting me hyped to try Mercy Thompson, and Valor’s Choice seems great for me too! I recently read some female-focused sci fi from Lois McMaster Bujold that was fantastic in Shards of Honor and Barrayar (just finished Warrior’s Apprentice too which was great). Can’t wait to try Bujold’s fantasy!
Thinking fast and slow is a wonderful book Though, it can be very informationally dense and slow going at times, even with good writing and many stories / anecdotes
Funny enough, I'm having a similar experience with Red Sister. I was really enjoying the book up to 50%, and then, one day I woke up and forgot about it. I started reading other books and when I finally tried to come back to Red Sister, I couldn't help but to feel bored, nothing really was happening. I haven't decided yet if it is DNF or just a laaaaate finish.

It's really one of those series that continues to be great, without ever really feeling like it reaches the point
so many fun sci-fi pics

Yeah, it's one of those fine books that becomes such a slog in the middle
🦩"See You Yesterday" sounds fun - like "Back to the Future." ⏪⏩
It is a cool name! But doesn't actually fit the book
