    When I had my first mammogram, the radiologist put me at BIRADS 4 for a suspicious looking intraductal papilloma. Biopsy showed no malignancy but I had to get mammo and ultrasound every 6 months. Three years later it was downgraded to BIRADS 2 because there were no new changes compared to the first mammo, and actually the papilloma shrank to half its size. So now I only need to be screened once a year.

      It great to hear that, what was the size of your lymph? since 3 years my ultrasound shows bi-rad 2 , lately it shows bi-rad 3 , I’m nervous! and Did you have any pain , thank you for replying me 🌹

      @@zhorsmiklou9078 Don't worry too much. Birads 3 means that you have 1 to 2% risk of malignancy. What did your doctor say? You'll probably need to get checked every 6 months and it can go back to Birads 2. I didn't have any pain except when I have mammos. My intraductal papilloma shrank along with two other benign masses. My doctor said it's due to change in hormones. I'm not sure about that because I'm taking birth control pills nonstop for the last 25 years. My breast surgeon and general doctor didn't tell me to stop even though I had Birads 4. I did cut back on eating red meat over the last several years.

    A woman who was diagnosed with fibroadenoma wound up having breast cancer. Don’t take your findings lightly; I have had multiple surgeries over the years due to numerous fibroadenomas and I am at a BIRAD 4. I have a mammogram in a few days which I am very nervous about because I found another lump a few days ago.

    I have 2 areas that need biopsied. Is it more of a chance to be malignant if 2 areas and if malignant in 2 areas is it usually more invasive? I am freaking out here. They are amorphous.

    hello , I had my ultrasound about 2 years back , it was Bi-rad 2 , and numbers of lymph were 3 . But lately the ultrasound shows bi-rad 3 although the size of the lymph becomes smaller than last year ! I don’t understand what are the criteria of categorising the level of bi-rad? Thanks 🙏

    A radiologist should not be able to say you have cancer or not from looking at a picture. They aren't doctors and don't have the qualifications. This is irresponsibe.

    • @wilshire6183
      @wilshire6183 4 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      A radiologist is a type of doctor, they go through the same 4 years of medical school and extensive residencies to make sure they know how to read the images properly. You may be thinking of the radiology techs whose jobs are just to take the images in the first place, not interpret them. Also, they would not tell you that you have cancer definitively from just the image. If it looks suspicious, a biopsy will be taken to look at the tissue directly and confirm the diagnosis before any treatment is started.

      @@wilshire6183 There is no radiologist anywhere that I want to tell me what my diagnosis is or is not. They are not doctors and and they do not receive the same training as doctors.

    • @lbe
      @lbe 4 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      A radiologist is a specialist doctor. People often confuse a radiographer with a radiologist. You do want a radiologist to look at the pictures and do a diagnostic report... since he/she is the doctor who determines if you need a biopsy. Imagine if you only wanted biopsies as a way to determine whether you have breast cancer - they'd have to stick hundreds of needles in you for every lump and bump. Though I don't think any doctor would allow that. And I don't think a surgeon or pathologist would be willing to examine random tissue from your breast without a radiologist looking at the images.
      Please be very careful of the terminology and definitions you use in public forums like this because you will mis-educate women who need radiology reports and radiologists to help diagnose their cancers.

      Radiologist is an MD but it is best to have a team with your primary dr / gynecologist / breast surgeon etc depending on your situation to decide the best course of action or follow up.

      @beautifulfavor I am doing good. My cancer was stage 0 so I didn't need radiation or chemo. I chose to have a mastectomy. I wanted both removed but my insurance wouldn't pay for the other one. I had my surgery this past January. Thank God it wasn't worse considering it was my first mammogram in 11 years.

    Mine was BIRADS 2 6 months ago but now it's BIRADS 3 but nothing changes from the cyst itself, even on its size.
    So I'm not sure if there's just an "exaggeration" on the conlcusion from the radiologist/dr. or what who read my ultrasound.
