I'm in my 60's. Since my 50's I get callbacks almost every other year. My girls are giving me a lot of anxiety.

We can certainly understand the anxiety, but glad that your providers are being thorough. Early detection is critical!

I love how this man says mammograms are painless. Like he would know.

They are painless guess women have different pain tolerance but they need to stop fear mongering other women they are painful because they are not its just pressure thats all

It was a little painful for me. Nothing bad at all though. It kinda is similar to if you rest a bony part of your body against a surface like the edge of a counter or table. For example, the bone in your forearm against the rounded edge of something hard like a counter or stool top. I think mammograms are viewed as painful bc we expect it to be painful through social conditioning. Using my example above, we do that all the time and while it isn’t comfortable, it’s not something we think of as painful.
Also, it is normal to be a little sore the next day after a mammogram. Kind of like how your breasts are tender before your period. ❤

I just went for a call back. More images and ultrasound 😕 was told by Dr. that I should come back in 6 mos. My insurance paid for screening but would not pay for any of the call back procedures. So be aware of that. It was almost $500. Thank you for this information.

Just so you know, they can be painful - especially the one that goes against the breast bone. My right breast hurt for almost 2 days.

For anyone who is a nervous wreck right now because you got a call back for more images, I too have gotten that call. My screening mammogram showed “questionable distortion” and new lymph nodes in axilla. I was worried. Got scheduled to return for a diagnostic mammogram and ultrasound. Everything turned out fine thank God. The sono tech did scare me because she left me on my side, got up and said let me show the doctor these pics and stay like that bc he might want to come in and scan you himself. Right away I went into panic mode. Never had a doctor have to come in and scan me his own self! Plus as she was looking at my arm pit she was asking me if I’ve had the Covid shot and if I’ve been sick lately and if I have any immune disorders or this or that. I said no, nothing. Are my lymph nodes enlarged or shaped irregular? She said no. Anyway, the doc didn’t have to come in and all was well. I said all that to let ladies know that even if things seem to be scary even DURING your exam, still don’t panic. I wish us all good health and a long life with our families.

What a ridiculous statement for him to say mammograms are painless. I almost passed out from the pain from the extreme compression and my breasts hurt for almost a month afterwards. I have dense breasts and they have to do extreme compression to get good images. Then afterwards I get call backs to do ultrasound. I am done with mammograms, I will ask for yearly ultrasound directly and skip the torture.

Most men don't know nothing, unless they are recovering from male breast cancer, I AM JUST blessed to have GYNACOMASTIA and have big breasts for years, I AM THAT BEAUTIFUL MAN WHO IS RECOVERING FROM MALE BREAST CANCER.

I had a mammogram once that after they were done, she put in another room to wait, I was scared to death, it was a year after I had 2 surgeries on my poor left breast.

My doctor called after my diagnostic mammogram and ultra sound and said “the doctor thinks it’s cancer”. I freaked out, why would she say this! It’s bad enough that she said I need a biopsy but why the diagnoses!

Thank u it’s stage 1 cancer, and I’m going thru all the hoops to get a biopsy with chemo first to reduce the size of the tumor. Sorry you have this experience too. I wish you well.
