Simple but effective. Also, if you cut the excess material off the front before you run your front wraps then you will have a cleaner head and won't need as many wraps.

Super awesome tutorial JC! You know...you just gave me an idea to making a custom teaser hook holder using vice grips. It'll cost me nothing hehehe! Also nifty idea on the braid spooler thingy! Thanks a lot my man!

@@RadReelingFishing yeah you buy some cheapo narrow vice grips and put some rubbery or plastic guards on the teeth so it won't ruin the hooks when you clamp it. 😉 Buy a plastic clamp at Harborfreight and make some sort of pipe to put it all together if you know what I mean. When I have a chance I'll craft one and see how it works out!

Hi JC great video as always. Just a question Why don’t you leave the fibers a bit longer for more movement in the water or is shorter better for hookups?

    • @RadReelingFishing
      @RadReelingFishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Thanks for watching. Maybe the simple answer is that these size teasers have proven to work great for catching Pompano. Pompano have very small mouths. Your idea about making them smaller is a good one for sure. I think the teaser, when it is tided right next to the jig, is supposed to represent the clam portion of a shell.

Agree with JC...that'll work if you want to make a bucktail, which will be great to go after a bigger fish.

  • @rider660r

Bet it's much easier tying with a vice than a drill now, right?
You could go down to #6 and it'll be more than strong enough,IDK if they make #4 but it'd enough also. It'll make it easier to tie,I use it on my Sea Witches,Striper lures,etc....I even use it to sew buttons back on...lol
A tool they call a hair stacker will make the ends all one at the head and help straighten out the body. Some of the hair that get sideways, don't get the full wrap, etc. can be pulled out and end up making the others loose and make the lure fall apart. It's up to you,I know you probably lose them pretty often so they don't have a very long life span, just a tip/idea for ya.
I have a whole slew of those wigs in different colors.
You may have covered these ideas already in the rest of the vid,I only made it to the 4:04 ,have to go out of town, but I'll come back later today to finish it.
Ahhh what a day, 4 hrs of waiting on the stinking Gov..
Anyhow, maybe those won't come lose after I finished watching the rest of it and seen how many apps of superglue you use but I'd suggest getting or make a hair stacker to help get all the ends closer aligned.
I'll add another lil idea though that will help make it easier yet.If you got yourself a cheap bobbin and a couple wooden thread spools like 1-1/8"x7/8" or 1" (don't want to wide so it fits in the bobbin)you could do your wraps, tighten it,and leave it hang while you grab your hair and position like you want it.IDK if it'll work on the #15 braid but I know they'll work with #6.
I'll take a 1/4" bolt and nut and put the wooden spool on it.I'll chuck it in the drill then run it to fill spool with the braid. After that you can use it in the bobbin.

Go to dollar store, $1.25 hair. Enough for atleast 100 jigs. I use them to make sea witches too. Cheerleading Pom Pom works good too but tears too easily.

Wouldn't it be less expensive to use fly tying thread instead of braided line? Fly tying thread only costs $2.00 for a 100 yard spool.

Why not buy a fly tying bobbin holder and use thread? It will make a much better looking teaser and way more easy to do.

Thanks for watching. I actually did the other day. Combining the two methods works great. I'm using 50lb braid to build the little ball quickly, then switch to the bobbin and thread, wow, it's working like a champ. I'm finding that plenty of practice certainly does help. Thanks for commenting.
