    Also, quick question on rigging.. how you keep the teaser from tangling up in your lure every cast? I've tried 3 way swivels, and dropper loops and every cast it seems that I'm always untangling the twisted mess every cast to the point where I stop using the teaser.

    • @FishYourWay
      @FishYourWay  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I put a link should pop up on the video with rigging with a dropper loop. What pound test are you using? I normally go with 30lb all around if I am not sure what is biting but can go as low as 20 and as high as 60. If your mono is too limp the teaser will do what your saying. OR if your using a BIG hook like a 5/0 6/0 and especially 8/0 that hook adds a lot of weight and the teaser will swing around and tangle. a big hook will also cut into your cast substantially as the size goes up.
      Its one of those 2, the hook is too big for the mono or your mono is too light for the hook. What size hook are you using? 4/0 30lb should be ok, but 40lb would be more stiff to the hook, 8/0 your in 50-60lb mono range. It should have a slight curve when you hold from the top of your mono leader your teaser should not drop down the main line or stick straight out. This is one of the beauties of fishing there are plenty of other finer details to worry about! Hope some helps, kindest Jerry

      @@FishYourWay Jerry you have shared the secret sauce finally! Really solid video, you are the TH-camr that turned me on to teasers and I had the best season last summer.. in fact the teaser outfished every lure I used.
      As you mentioned, I had a problem with limp 20lb test, once I bumped up to a stiffer 25 lb or 30 lb my problem went away with a dropper loop.
      Excellent video...as usual!

      They will most days outfish any lure in front or behind them in addition to other lures on the beach! I never go with out them most days of the year and only a few will fish without em for certain reasons here and there but my #1 is the teaser! Jerry--I tied your teaser design and got into a major striper blitz yesterday and a 32 inch striper took my teaser! And it was tied on my own teaser rig that I tied myself and everything held up--that was so awesome catching a bass on a lure I tied myself. Thanks Jerry for all of these great instructional videos! @@FishYourWay With your teasers you sometimes seem to catch even more fish, than with the usual bait. But the most I like is that you allways keep the stuff easy. No fancy 500$ reels or rods. Hey Jerry hope all is well. Teasers are getting better each day. I know you already know this but I have learn that not all Bucktails are created equal. Size, density of the hair, coarseness, perhaps age of the buck...enjoying tying none the less.

    • @FishYourWay
      @FishYourWay  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Thomas thanks good to hear from you, doing a lot of tying too! So true on the bucktails, what I tend to do is make them somewhat full then as they wear they are on the sparse side of the spectrum until most of the hair is gone and then repeat. 3 bucktails one full, one medium one sparse and cycle through! If I dont have anothe bucktail I will alter/add/change/remove the trailer. The type/size trailer you use will also change the sink rate significantly, why sometimes they work better without or with. What I do with the 360 bucktail teasers is tie them really full as they wear and thin I graduate them to flies that get out a little further then a full. Fishing is so wild!

    • @thomasnorris1353
      @thomasnorris1353 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1
