I just want to say thank you Gabe! me and my wife has been looking at alot of your videos to learn about our Circuit track and microfreak! Thanks to your hard work and efforts we are starting our own music project together and at the core of it is alot of knowledge that we learned from you! cheers mate!
Yeah why not make a flagship groovebox beast like the mc707 or Force? I know these devices are light and portable but I think there is space for big novation device with loads of pads and knobs..
I love how you are committed to seeing what YOU can do rather than what the device can do (like nearly every other “review”). Your work as a musician working to get the most from yourself and your gear inspires me and countless others. ❤🙏
I always look forward to your vids Gabe, you're a great inspiration for those with the circuits. Particularly most recently with the live performance twists! I recently got the Rhythm and look to see how far it take my next Emom set!
Great Set up. I've tried the roland SP but I sold it. Now I'm looking into the Rhythm because I love the Tracks workflow. I've made a video on it years ago and it is my most watched video and im proud of that. I recently bought the polyend synth and I think it would pair really good with the rhythm. Anyway I'd also like to thank you for the other videos you made on the tracks. I always find something inspiring but I don't take the time to comment about it. So there you go! Kudos for the great work and keep jamming! Cheers From Belgium.
If ever there were a circuit master giga-chad it's Gabe Miller. I've got this Circuit dynamic duo as well. Let your obsession be mine. If you keep making these videos I'll keep watching and become a giga-chad too.
I honestly still don't like those circuit synths but it's really cool you keep giving love to these machines. The rhythm is certainly the coolest drum and bass machine around in my studio, does all I need for drum and bass and nice and large and easy to program. I also made some songs of my own on the OG Circuit which i eventually moved to DAW. Keep it going Gabe, I like "We deliver side chain here at Gabe Music" or whatever you said. I still haven't used to use it on the Rhythm, it was so easy on the OG with the dedicated tracks
I'm super excited because I'm guessing Novation are working on something in the Circuit line. Something that will give OP-1, Ableton move, and the Sonicware boxes a run for their money. Like Circuit rompler, or super circuit or something. By the way seriously thinking picking up a second-hand Circuit Mono Station, which is so fun looking even though people didn't like it so much
Once you really start jiving with a piece of hardware, it gets hard NOT to use it. I feel this way about the Roland T-8 and S-1. I've got a bunch of gear, but every time I sit down I always just flip those on and start playing around because they just feel so natural to me and fun to play around with. This vid makes me kinda wish that I got into these Novation devices earlier on, as they're way more flexible
Good stuff! Sometime... I recommend using the circuit rhythm for just a bunch of un-sequenced one shots... that aren't quantized, but played with the Tracks. I have been doing this and enjoying the flavor it adds.
Totally. It's still something I really wish they'd implement, but I miss it a lot less now that I've been putting an emphasis on playing live and getting everything to sound as good in the box as possible.
Totally new in Music-things but always loved oldschool MPC2000 HipHop Tracks - is a Circuit a good device to learn something like that (and maybe some House Tracks) without any other Equipment? (No other synths, MIDI Interface or something like that) And if yes: Tracks or Rhythm?
Double check whether the attenuator is turned on, which would turn down the incoming signal by 12 db. When you're in sampling mode, Pad 30 in Row 4 should toggle the attenuator on or off.
Thanks! I threw together a bunch of stuff from different packs, so I don't remember exactly what came from where, but a lot of it was probably from his synthwave packs. The acid bass might have been from his psy trance pack, but don't quote me on that.
Hey Gabe! Watching a lot of your videos and love what you are doing! Thx for sharing your knowledge :) I have a question to your setup here: You released this video once, about the problems you had with the Tracks/Rhythm setup and that there are some bugs related to this. Nowadays you seem very convinced from combining both machines. Does this mean something changed here or did you only learn to live with the workarounds? For me, already owning (and loving) the circuit tracks is it hard to decide if it would be a good choice to go with the Rhythm if I just want more drum tracks. Have you ever tried the model::samples? I am wondering if this could probably be a better companion to the Tracks, with a dawless, semi improvised lives in mind? Would love to hear your thoughts
The bug was with project switching and stuff coming in at the wrong time on the Tracks with anything longer than one bar, and the workaround was to do scene switching on both devices simultaneously to force everything to start at the correct time. I ended up just rolling with that workaround, and it's worked totally fine. And the bit of latency between the two devices is not ideal, but I get around that by having stuff on the Tracks hit slightly early, or it's not noticeable enough to be a problem. I haven't tried the Samples, so I can't really weight in on that unfortunately.
@@GabeMillerMusic Thank you for your response, appreciate that! Ok that means nothing has changed on the novation side as they promised around 10 month ago... very sad. In general the update philosophy for the new circuits seems a bit different to the OG circuit.... You used the model::cycles only, right? I can't understand that no one (so far I can tell from my internet research) had ever the idea to combine the samples with the circuit tracks.. for me it's some kind of obvious for the use case from all I know. But it seems like my search will go on and maybe I have to try it by my own :D Thank you🙃
Your handling of these wonders is great. I have the audio from CT to CR and the volume of CT is much lower than CR. So I decided to take it directly to the mixer although I would like to run it through CR. Am I missing something?? Thanks and Greetings. P.S: Sorry for my Google English.
Thanks! There is a setting for an attenuator that turns the audio coming into the CR down by 12 db. When you're in sampling mode, Pad 30 in Row 4 should toggle the attenuator on or off.
Tracks and Rhythm currently selling for less than $300 each.. if I didn’t have them I would buy them instantly. Almost want to buy despite already having them… GASing I guess, looking at MPC or Maschine.. but I don’t know. Better get the Tracks out instead 😂.
Nothing at the moment. If I were to add a third device, I'd either have to bring its audio into the Tracks (introducing further latency) or bring its audio into the Rhythm, where the two signals would be panned hard left and right, so I'd need to output in mono. I haven't really felt the need for more tracks, so the midi tracks just have to sit there doing nothing and being sad for now.
I run the bass into Circut Tracks and process its reverb and delay as needed. It's just desirable to have any processor that will emulate a bass rig and line output from the processor before Circut
@@philrivard2447 Yeah, from a bass guitar. You can even do without signal processing, insert directly, but if the bass has passive pickups, the signal level will be low.
Thanks! And yep, that's one of the main ways I do it, since it also allows notes to be held down for longer. I also chain patterns together quite often.
@GabeMillerMusic thanks buddy I was hoping that someone had shed some light on my question and it was you! Big ups brother you're such an inspiration. I'm putting together a live set myself and the rhythm is central to the workflow.. still learning and growing every day 🙏💜🔥
A lot of them are one-shots I got from other place, so they're not mine to sell, but I do want to update my $5 sample pack at some point with some more techno-centric stuff.
It's linked in the description of every video for now with a different platform. I'm going to try to figure out whether I can integrate it with the merch shelf, but I'm not sure whether the platform we're using works for digital downloads.
Very inspiring, you taught me a fair few techniques, many thanks! Hope you can partner with Isotonik and give us discount codes? The dnb collection from techtronix sounds like my jam, do you have this one?
It would be a nice feature to have, although now that I'm mostly focused on making stuff to play live (for this setup, anyway), I worry a lot less about it.

That's so awesome to hear!
If Novation releases an 8-channel Circuit with a choice of Synth/Sampler per channel, I'll think about retiring my old Original Circuit :D
I’d be happy with that but we need the next Circuit “anything”
Yeah why not make a flagship groovebox beast like the mc707 or Force? I know these devices are light and portable but I think there is space for big novation device with loads of pads and knobs..
If they just roll out the 2.0 update for Circut Tracks I'll be happy already.
just got a circuit tracks. so hype to make some tunes with this thing

Yeah brother we gonna start calling you the Circuit GOAT!
Killer breakdown of your setup! Thank you for sharing!
I will receive a circuit tracks in a few days and i'm a bit excited :) the workflow seems magic
Best Cicuit Performer 🔥🔥🔥
it is a shame that novation not have anything new update for the circuit :c
they should really make a move now that the Ableton Move came out 😅
Shame why? I think folks focus too much on what if and not what is.
Enjoy what you like now and make tunes instead of wishing for five new features.
As much as I'd love a souped up mega-Circuit or some quality of life improvements, I'm happy to squeeze as much as possible out of the setup as is.
Omg, what you showed on 20:30 about getting free sample slots i literally had to do in google sheets this weekend ahahha
I always look forward to your vids Gabe, you're a great inspiration for those with the circuits. Particularly most recently with the live performance twists! I recently got the Rhythm and look to see how far it take my next Emom set!

My «Roman Empire» is Circuit TRACKS with my beloved Roland MC 101. Perfect match!
First thought on intro music was Donna Summers I feel love.

Been rocking the tracks and microfreak for a year. But I think it’s time to get the rhythm. I’m really following in your footsteps! 😮😢🫃
youre composing style is really cool. thank's 👍
Stay obsessed. Fkkn awesome!!
Man only you can squeeze the absolute max out of Novation hardware, love it. Please do Roland T8 and S1 together if you get time :)
Thanks! I can look into them but no guarantees, I'm trying to avoid taking on too much new stuff.
I like the blank sample trick 😁
6:33 wait, there is automation on the Circuits???
Yep! You can either record automation in real time or do it on a step by step basis.
Anybody wanting to pick up a Rhythm Ive noticed Novation has them on sale for Black Friday on Amazon
I don't have either but it's still applicable to my MPC One 😎👍
I love my circuit.. i just wish there was some sort of multichannel export

In “mixer” mode on the Rhythm, what’s the highlighted pad on the bottom right?
Do you think its possible to compensate for the delay between CT and CR drums by applying a bit of swing on the CT?
I'd have to try it, not sure if going below 50 swing would do the trick or not.
Gabe, how to increase the volume of the input signal? I connect tracks in rhytm but the output sound of tracks is very quiet.
Double check whether the attenuator is turned on, which would turn down the incoming signal by 12 db. When you're in sampling mode, Pad 30 in Row 4 should toggle the attenuator on or off.
Which A Force Truly Evil pack was that? Great job btw, love that you are still with the circuits.

Hey gabe, could you do a brief description of how you are connecting them? Midi? Is the tracks acting as the Midi clock?
I did a video going through the ins and outs of how the setup works, hopefully it's helpful!

Glad you're still enjoying the Circuit content!
@ I’m here for it nice to see serious sets being done with budget music, production gear, and it getting the job done .

Gabe, it's just not normal to make this many beats on the Novation Circuit. Perhaps you need an intervention. 😆
Is Gabe getting longer sequence lengths by slowing down the playback resolution?

Yep! I haven't updated it in a while but it's still available. Eventually I need to add some new stuff to it and organize it a bit.
