    Thanks where did u do compliance?

    • @onstreetgarage

      No compliance required on vehicles over 25 years old on NSW currently

    • @cgunarathna9157

      thats awesome. I thought its more complex work to get 25yeaers old cars because it has to go through engineering. love from qld. thank you @@onstreetgarage

    • @onstreetgarage

      @cgunarathna9157 thanks for the love and support legend! To be honest it’s quite inconsistent in New South Wales. I’ve had cars where a blue slip seems to be enough. but there are some where a mechanic is not willing to give a blue slip and an engineer needs to be engaged. So I think I would allow worst case for an engineer and if you get lucky a blue slip or safety check is sufficient.

    Great stuff, will be the best of all worlds 100 / 105 Series with the famous for very good reasons 1HDFTE.
    I'm just starting a very similar build, but using a local 2003 HDJ100 Sahara onto a FZJ105 chassis.
    So super interested in your build and will be great if you end up with a much needed full resource on how to do it

      Awesome mate! Everyone who builds them seems to absolutely love em! I will definitely make sure to give a detailed review on everything I do to it! It’ll take a little bit longer but 100% worth it

    Hey Alex, thanks so much for these vids. I've just started looking at importing a HDJ101 to register here in VIC, but from the early research I've done it doesn't seem possible as its not older than 25 years old and isn't on the SEVS register..? Any info would be appreciated

    • @onstreetgarage

      Hey mate no worries! I really enjoy sharing my experience with these beasts.
      Thats correct they need to be 25 years old. My one is a 1998 so it’s good to go. Late models aren’t eligible yet but obviously will be very soon. Anything up to June 1999 can come over for now 👌

    • @pallettime

      Why dies it have to be 25 years old to import ? I thought that was what luxury tax was, so you could import earlier modles, or am i wrong??

    • @onstreetgarage

      @pallettime hey mate they restructured the import rules in NSW about 2-3years ago. Anything newer than 25 years old needs to be on the Sevs register as an approved vehicle. The 100 series isn’t on that list so you can’t import them newer than 25.
      Once they’re 25 years old you can pretty much import anything and you don’t need to go through a specialized workshop for compliance just a visit to an engineer and/or blueslip

    Hey mate, im looking to import a landcruiser from Japan
    I had a look what the dealership offering and all prices are through the roof
    Its like 36k$ for the car you got for 13k$
    So the auctions are way cheaper are they ? Was looking for an 80 series as well but the broker i contacted was saying its very hard to get through compliance because of the rust therefore had to put a fairly bit of money to get a perfect one
    What you reckon? Need help dont want to spent 40k$ .
    Not too sure where im going 😅

    • @onstreetgarage

      Just need to know the right people. Auctions are way cheaper and a lot of brokers are lazy and don’t want to spend the time looking for good cars that aren’t ridiculously priced. Speak to scott at nippon2u (search him up on Facebook)
      Tell him I sent you he’ll take care of you 😊👍🏼

    Hey mate, thanks for the video. Just to clarify the costs at the end - you tallied up how much extra to get it onto the road. The costs totalled approximately 3k but then you said from the time you bought it, it was roughly 9k to get it on the road. Which is more accurate? Thanks again

    • @onstreetgarage

      Hey man happy to help. What I meant was $9k all up on top of purchase price to get it registered, shipped everything. As I’m not registering mine it was $6k shipping, taxes etc and would’ve cost roughly another $3k if I wanted to register it get it signed off by engineer/bluslip

    • @paddywallace33

      Ahh thats clear, thanks for that! I’m looking at importing an 80 for driving here in Oz. Were you comfortable sending off a deposit overseas to someone you had not met. What if there is no sale, what’s the chances of seeing that cash again! Haha

      @paddywallace33 lucky for me I’ve met the guy who helped me import my cruiser. I’ve actually imported a few cars from him

    Great vid! Btw i want to import a s2000. Would it be correct to import something stock as ADR wont probably allow a modified one into Oz? And can you shop around with an agent in japan to get the right car?

    • @onstreetgarage

      Thanks mate! If it’s modified it’d likely need to be turned back to stock so you could be paying a lot of money for that stuff before you start on compliance stuff. Minor mods you may be able to sneak through. Yep agent in Japan is a must IMO
