What this fraud accomplishes is that it reduces the amount of overall money that any actual real artists are earning from their music. The overall pot of money that comes from Spotify subscriptions and ad revenueis limited . Real musicians get paid a tiny percentage, based on the total amount of traffic on spotify.. What these guys are doing is reducing the overall pot of money by creating fake traffic using a bot farm in order to siphon off part of that pot of money to this jerk on a scale that few real musicians could ever accomplish..

KUDOS to this guy for truly sticking it to the man ! If he eeked it out and only made about $50,000 per year he probably would’ve never got caught. $10 million in a short time tipped them off. He’s definitely a genius, the punishment doesn’t fit the crime, and I hope he can appeal and stash the dough somewhere 😎

Moderation. You have to do schemes like this in moderation. Greed almost always has a byproduct of suspicion or investigation by someone. He probably could have made enough money to at least pay his bills and have a little bit of fun vacation/recreation money without ever being caught.
