Physical copies are best. Streaming is good but not the best. A good example is the tv show Dallas. It’s gorgeous in HD, better than when aired. HD version not avail on physical.
the network wanted to move on from Star Trek. Keep in mind up until the shows cancellation Star Trek had been on since the 80s. They were done. That coupled with low ratings and the low box office return of Nemesis and even a change in showrunners couldn't save Enterprise from being axed.
You are in minority. This series was a disaster from the very beginning and literally so. They made Rod Stewart sing the title song. First of all you never make anyone sing the Star Trek title song and second if you do it is not Rod Stewart. Furthermore Star Trek title song is not a slow ballade, and they tried exactly with that. They realized their mistakes later, adapted the song with another singer and up tempo but it was too little too late. They should have changed it alltogether because the introduction video was also pretty crappy.

That scene absolutely terrified me. It drove me to tears. And it left a mark, too - even to this day, it makes my stomach drop. As silly as it may sound, that may have been the first time I realized that the only thing separating the crew from space was the ship's thin walls.

The Romulan/Earth war was going to be season 5, so yes, we really got screwed thanks to Paramounts new president Les Moonves. He's the one that gave Enterprise the axe.
@sheldondean7949 That was kinda a Rod Stewart cover called "Faith of the Heart" from 1998, written by Diane Warren and she rewrote the lyrics for Enterprise, which was called "Where my Heart will take me", performed by Russell Watson. Les Moonves canceled the show, which once again, is who screwed everyone. If you didn't like the show, I have no problems with that, everyone's entitled to their opinion. But if you're going to talk $hit, at least get your facts straight, goof.
@@paulnicholson5997 whatever that intro was it screwed all the series and I never want to see it again. That magnitude of screwing up after such a long run with TNG and Voyager is horrific.
@jasmins203 Yeah, it wasn't exactly my favorite either, to be honest. They even tried an up tempo version at the start of season 3. I did like the visuals for the intro, but they wanted to try something different. Should have stayed with Goldsmith. He did TMP, TNG, and Voyager. Not sure if he did DS9 though.
This may have been the most primative Enterprise, but it would seem primative also means durable. The NX could take one mother of a molly womping that would make a Constitution class blush. Before the luxury of shields, Starfleets design motto seems to have been "pile on the Duranium and take it on the chin."
The NX-01 was also before the luxury of nearby starbases or the expectation of meeting any friends if you ran into trouble. If you lost warp power, you better hope you packed a lot of supplies because you're heading back sublight and praying a Vulcan happens to be passing by at some point.
It always boggled me that we never see the warp nacelles damaged destroyed or hit in most of the shows the only times i have were in ds9,generations and some of the old star trek movie's
That battle is always painful to watch. The insectoids and reptilians were weren't even trying to destroy Enterprise towards the end, just seeing how much damage they could inflict for the fun of it.
On today’s aircraft, much less a future advanced spaceship like Enterprise, there would not be beams just lying around after a battle or crash. A beam would be attached along its entire length to the rest of the structure. Therefore beam wreckage would have other broken structure attached to it along its length. This ‘mistake’ is made repeatedly in the ST canon. Just saying.
It adds to the emotional effect. Expressing just how much damage was dealt to the vessel… especially considering the extensive exterior hull damage… the ship quite literally being rocked… it’d make sense. Additional Example: Mass Effect 2, the Normandy SR-1 and SR-2 against the Collector Ship. And the SR-2 in the Crash Landing scene, Varying on Technology researched prior to the final mission, it shows extensive damage both exterior and interior. Like.. Beams being knocked down from their respective points. Even Battlestar Galactica and Halo show this as well. Once again, adding to the Emotional effect of the show/game.
Well yes showing wreckage demonstrates that the spaceship has been damaged, but I’m postulating that a Starship’s structure would be something like a digitally printed unified structure, not having something like simply supported beams that can just fail out of the ceiling. And don’t get me started on those wires hanging down with electrical sparks. Enterprise would have some advanced version of fiber optics incorporated into the structure. BUT, of course you are correct that damage to the craft has to be shown someway, even if is improbable as depicted.
