    Number 1 - You are a videographer magician - how you did the HR was next level. 2 - I had no idea this used ChatGPT for control, and you can access buried settings that way! That is next level! Crazy. And 3 - how is it they just *poof* do maps w street names and no other competitors have accomplished it yet. If they had a flashlight I would 100% be converting, but at the very least I now know I need to do a review for it! Thanks again for great work

    I have the Balance and really enjoy it. I got into amazfit after my Fitbit sense started not holding charge. I got frustrated with the price of a new Fitbit and bought the amazfit gtr 4, then went on to the balance because of the recovery metrics. And i enjoy it. I currently use FR255 and really tempted to sell it to buy Trex 3, for the battery life and offline mapping. But yeah, Garmin Connect app is way superior than the Zepp, and running metrics are great on 255.

      @Sadettinz 2 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      @sylvestersam2724 As an occasional runner and weekend lycra warrior, I handle the navigation on my edge 840, which is way superior to any watch out there. Battery life is impressive at this price point, but plugging FR255 in every week or two doesn't really bother me. But if you are after a multi day outdoor/hiking watch, Trex-3 is solid. I wouldn't trade my FR255 for it though.

    Hi Matt, thanks for your effort, i have few questions....what is provided in terms of power (power sensors for bike and run compatibility) and treadmill accuracy in terms of pace and strokes detection in swimming compared to the garmin ecosystems? And also from a triathlete perspective what features should a watch have to satisfy all (training focused) needs? I guess combination of rest and sleep monitoring and well being and accurated (swim, bike, run) activity monitoring..do you agree?

    • @mlegrand
      @mlegrand  วันที่ผ่านมา

      Well, no ANT+. So that may or may not be a hard stop for you regarding power meter sensors and bike compatibility. I found the swimming a bit lacking. It's odd. It'll give you your main stroke type. (in my case, Freestyle) but it doesn't seem to break down it down by which laps were what stroke. There is a more detailed section that'll show how much of each stroke you do. Otherwise, there's a lot of the normal stuff you'd expect for swim metrics. Number of strokes, SWOLF, distance per stroke, stroke rate, etc. The one thing that's killing me is lack of a drill mode. So many brands are missing this critical feature. I was so glad to see that COROS recently added it to their watches. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍

    • @gpm74
      @gpm74 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thanks to you, if i wonder a perfect watch i would have the garmin connect ecosystem with all the connectivity and metric features such as stamina, treading readiness, body battery all enriched by the accuracy of a superhuman or aura rings, from swim perspective the accuracy and stroke detection of FORM smart swimming goggles, and from smart perspective and charging the amazfit or apple watch seems to have the best package either if i'm more interested in the massive solar enhanced battery life and trainings feature of Fenix/Epix/Enduro series.
      What do you think the dream perfect smartwatch for a triathlete training would looks like?

    Great video Matt! Anyway I'm currently using Garmin Forerunner 255, and seeing this TRex 3 really tempted me to trade my FR255 for it. I love my FR255, but this TRex 3 have more features at a lower price point! It got offline maps which is pretty useful for context on the hiking trail (instead of only breadcrumb style on 255), way better GPS battery life, and a pretty amoled touchscreen. I do think Garmin's app the Garmin Connect is superior. In Garmin Connect I can set race day and get training suggestions which I'm not sure if Amazfit Zepp has this feature or not. Then it can sync to way more sports apps than the Zepp which limited to few popular sports apps, and Garmin Connect is accessible from the web, whereas Amazfit Zepp only limited to the phone app. And I think TRex 3 missing some running metrics like ground contact time and vertical oscillation. What do you think? Is it worth to lose the Garmin Connect app for this Amazfit?

    • @mlegrand
      @mlegrand  2 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      I really like the 255. If it's still working well I'd probably stick with it. I think it would all depend on what kind of deal you could get for you 255 but typically the longer you can hold on to it, the more value you've maxed out of the device. And we have no idea what Garmin or Amazfit is going to announce next spring. 🤷‍♂️

    For me, the big problem with Amazfit watches, even the top ones like Cheetah and T-Rex, is the fact that they don't receive workouts from other platforms (for those who have a coach who sends you workouts, for example, or for those who use other platforms to set up workouts according to the methodology). I really don't understand this decision by the brand, because it's not a lack of capacity on the part of the watches or the developers.

  • @splatmatt
    @splatmatt 2 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

    I think this watch is a threat because it has a smooth, speedy UI and can deliver most of what users want. Many Garmin users I come across in run club or CrossFit rarely know how to create a structured workout; let alone import a GPX route. Additionally, while Garmin does have on device offline maps... it can be slow to navigate to a searched POI, reroute or pan the map itself. Garmin is resting more on its name while delivering products whose software is in early beta and in turn demands a premium. In the end, none of these watches are meant to last much past 5 years and several will not make it that long. Will a Garmin make you a better runner/athlete/adventurer than this Amazfit - I doubt it.

      I still have a working Fenix 1, Forerunner 25 and old Vivoactive (the first one). They all still work. Even the batteries still have a ton of capacity after almost 9 years in a drawer. Currently use the Instinct 2X that was on sale for 270€. I only sold the F7X and Pro only because the display lacks a bit in contrast. So I prefer the Instinct. It feels like a G-Shock on steroids and considering what the top models of Casios cost, it's a steal.
      Except for the Fenix 1, all still connect with the app.

    Hi , my name is CK from Malaysia. Just started to follow your channel around November, huge shout out to the quality of your videos. I have a question, which running watch is better in your opinion, Coros Pace 3 or Amazfit Cheetah ( Non Pro version) ?? Have a great day ^^

      😀 - yeah, Garmin is still doing some fantastic stuff with their watches. It'll be interesting to see if any other brands step up to take them on in this space. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
