Great suggestion! I will try that and report back! I was also going to try to make a more “manly” smelling one with pine or eucalyptus for mens shaving cream.
I just watched your video and like you said, paying the whipped tallow is pricey! Especially since I use it on most my body. I was wondering your thoughts on buying a higher quality olive oil? Would that make a difference? I also keep the amber jars I've purchased from the whipped tallow and it supposedly prevents UV rays from degrading the quality of the tallow.
Any kind but this is grass-fed. It’s out of my price point right now to get organic + grass-fed, so I just focus on getting grass-fed (for the vitamin content).
Thank you! It was somewhat by accident. Here’s what I did: whipped for one minute on medium, scraped down the sides of the bowl, and then one more minute on the HIGHEST setting!
The best way to get all the contaminants out of the tallow and getting all that “beef” scent out is to process using the wet method in a crockpot. Repeat the process 2-3 times and it will be pure and scent free.
Did you use suet? Or did you use fat from the whole cow? I have fat from the whole entire cow but mine seems to just come out creamy instead of whippy, so I'm curious
Was that beef suet you were rendering in the crockpot? Even from frozen and on the lowest settings, it’s hard to imagine it taking 6 hours for tallow to melt. It looks like you were rendering down beef suet to get the tallow.
Interesting! You may very well be right. I requested our butcher “put us on the list” for any tallow that became available and this is what they sold me. Looks like I need to do a deeper dive on this… I am going to be making another tallow video soon so stay posted-I’ll be sharing a DIY tallow shaving cream and will do my best to cover this process a little more systemically. New to making videos so thank you for bearing with us!
Its hard to find real fatty beef or even organs like liver unless its frozen 😢 I have an immune disorder and my skin sort of melts away sometimes and my Grandma saw it and applied tallo on it and it disappeared unfortunately here in the US i got steroids that messed up my body and gained weight
Not when rendered properly. I’m the same way that coconut oil doesn’t rot, neither does properly rendered tallow. It’s had a great shelf life I’m happy to report!
I was worried about that too but it actually smells great. Not beefy! But I think it *is* noticeablely different from coconut oil or plant based products. It’s very VERY creamy and doesn’t smell as sweet as some of the plant based oils
I appreciate the "what I would do differently" portion at the end.
Wow, this looks great. I'm going to try this out. Yes! As a former Dairy Queen worker in my teen years, it brought back some fun memories.
I love it!! It's beautiful. I wish you would show the whole recipe and steps including fragrance and all!!
Thank you! And you are so right, next time I will be sure to include this! More tallow recipes are in the works. Stay tuned!
Thanks for the presentation! Have you ever thought of or used fresh lemon oil (from fresh lemon skin) as an ingredient for fragrance?
Great suggestion! I will try that and report back! I was also going to try to make a more “manly” smelling one with pine or eucalyptus for mens shaving cream.
Lemon oil from lemon skin is phototoxic. If you use it on your skin and go in the sun it with burn.
What essential oils did you use to scent it?
ОТлично, но я так и не поняла, когда Вы добавили оливковое масло в топленный жир. На каком этапе?
How long did you whip it for?
Several minutes. Probably 3 minutes on high. Doesn’t sound like a lot but when you mixer is in high I think it really is and works in a lot of air!
@@letschasethegoodlife Gotcha, ty!
Beautiful
Are essential oils necessary for scent or could you use skin safe fragrance oils?
You can… but they’re not really healthy for you, so it kind of defeats the purpose of using tallow in the first place.
I was going to try a lavender and unscented.
You didn’t show adding the olive oil.
I’m so sorry! I will be more conscientious next time and not miss that! More DIY recipes are in the works. Thank you for the feedback!
Y en qué momento añadiste el aceite de oliva?

Thank you so much for thissss
Glad it was helpful!!
Is it from a grass fed cow or you can use any kind?
Any kind but this is grass-fed. It’s out of my price point right now to get organic + grass-fed, so I just focus on getting grass-fed (for the vitamin content).
it's so fluffy! i wonder what makes it so fluffy compared to others, mine is far from that, might need to whip more.
Thank you! It was somewhat by accident. Here’s what I did: whipped for one minute on medium, scraped down the sides of the bowl, and then one more minute on the HIGHEST setting!
@@letschasethegoodlife will give that go! thanks

That foam…. is what turns to liquid when you put it in a freezer and solidify, this is the impurities, they stay liquid after your tallow solidifies
Did you use suet? Or did you use fat from the whole cow? I have fat from the whole entire cow but mine seems to just come out creamy instead of whippy, so I'm curious
Interesting! Yes, I think the whippy part is all about the air from the blending on high speed and olive oil helps too

I source my grass feed grass finished bison and beef tallow from my local butcher. Try to find a local farm or small butcher in your area.
Tallow? You mean the fat rendered from cooking burger? Doesnt that rot?
Why should it rot more than any other fat
Not when rendered properly. I’m the same way that coconut oil doesn’t rot, neither does properly rendered tallow. It’s had a great shelf life I’m happy to report!
Although just like any oils, I do think it can and will eventually oxidize. But the same is true for old makeup or olive oil.
It looks lovely but I would think it would be a most unpleasant odor to wear.
It’s completely odorless
I was worried about that too but it actually smells great. Not beefy! But I think it *is* noticeablely different from coconut oil or plant based products. It’s very VERY creamy and doesn’t smell as sweet as some of the plant based oils
When you repeatedly render it and remove the impurities it leaves it odorless.
