    The easiest way I’ve found to pipe is to take 1 flexible disposable piping bag, and put your chosen tip in it; take another flexible bag, snip off the end, put it inside the first bag, & your butter in it. Now cleanup will be super easy & you can use multiple tips with the same butter easily, or use multiple butter bags with the same tip.

      Oooo!! Thank you for this tip! Piping is definitely not my forte. 😂

    So excited, thank you for putting this together - I have a Kitchen Aide mixer that isn't getting used for baking (lol) so guess I can use it for the butters. May I ask how you do your labels to get them the perfect size for the jars?

    • @muddymintsoap
      @muddymintsoap  5 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Yes!! Get that KitchenAid to work! :) Our labels were designed by a local illustrator and printed at Sticker Giant (which is also local to us!). You just need to measure the jars and figure out what you want. It helps to cut out a piece of paper and tape it to the jar first and then measure the size that you like! I hope this helps!

    I do body butter and I’m glad u said that a body butter is not made with water or emulsifiers. But my body butter isn’t greasy at all and it instantly gets absorbed into the skin. It took me over 2 years to formulate this. My son has severe eczema and he will not touch anything slimy. And I do use a combos of butters a hard oil infused oil and essential oils. I also add beeswax to bind all of that together. Now it’s the temperatures. I also only do it by hand and I mix for at least an hour. When the body butter looses it’s oily sheen and becomes matte then it’s completely bonded as one and then I add the cornstarch and I mix for another 10-15 minutes and then I cover it and let it sit overnight. I do do a huge batch at once. In the morning I take the cover off and I separate it to be scented and fragranced. Even if it melts it doesn’t separate. I can just let it sit in the fridge for a few minutes and it’s right back to how it was. It took so long to get this exactly correct I mean years. I do add a preservative in mine.

      Sounds like you got your process dialed in! It took us about a year to formulate this recipe as well, but I didn't want to mess with long wait times due to the size of our business, which is why I decided to forgo a process that needed refrigeration. Hopefully you enjoyed the video! :)

    I would like to ask something.
    I bought your wild lavender coconut milk soap recipe two days ago and I'd like to ask if it is suitable for dry and sensitive skin and if not, do you have any other recommendation from your recipes? Thank you!!! 🌷🌼🩷

    • @muddymintsoap
      @muddymintsoap  5 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Hi there! All our recipes are formulated for dry, sensitive skin! We have sold tons of bars and have never had a complaint about our bars being too drying. Everyone has different skin though, so if you find our bars drying, you can start by reducing the coconut oil amount. Note that the Wild Lavender soap is exfoliating with the red sandalwood powder. If you want a smooth soap, you could either create a red sandalwood infusion, strain the powder, and use that instead or you can simply just omit the sandalwood. I hope that helps and feel free to email me with any other questions (my email is on the last page of the recipe download). Thanks!!

    Is it possible to make body butter without whipping? I mean just like we melt butters and mix them with liquid oils and pour them in jars without whipping.

    • @muddymintsoap
      @muddymintsoap  5 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Yes! But, it won't have the same texture and will be more dense. Many people do it this way though. I personally feel like the whipping is what adds the magic, but it'll still be an awesome butter without it. I'd definitely mix it with very well and try to fluff it up a bit in a bowl. You can also use a hand mixer, as I mentioned and skip the whipping part.

    I’m new here and am hoping you have talked about this or soon will. Found your channel because I may have to make my own soap out of need more than desire. My brother in law the chemist and sister retired from making soap. He started making soap after a work layoff and began with formulating products for me. I’m very sensitive to chemicals and fragrances, lavender in particular and other soap/lotion/body butter ingredients. On contact some ingredients, which hospitals often use, cause a burn that’s similar to a sun burn on my skin. I’m talking major retail brands like ivory, safeguard etc. I can use Basis and similar but they are drying. In the case of smells I usually end up with a headache that lasts a few days. Sometimes it makes me cough for a few hours after exposure. I know I’m not alone and one of the worst problems is if I buy at a craft show/fair or health food store where they claim all natural is the product could be next to or bulk packaged with/near something I’m sensitive to fragrance wise (usually lavender). Something I have not seen anyone talk about is how a scent can cross contaminate into another products. Fragrances are molecules that float in the air. They can leach into near by products. The products I bought from my brother in law were always wrapped and bulk packed separately in plastic tubs so the fragrances wouldn’t leach into each other or into additional accessories they sold such as loofahs, wash clothes etc. Lavender scented products were made on a different day and left to cure away from other products. If you have done a video on this could you please direct me to it or if you haven’t maybe consider doing one? TYIA! I enjoy making butters for personal use but really don’t want to make soap though I may not have a choice. Trying to find a source who is cognizant of these issues where I can buy a soap that is limited ingredient and fragrance free. While there are some fragrances that do not cause a problem it’s just easier to buy fragrance free and look for ingredients like Olive oil, goats milk and colloidal oats. I am careful with the butters and waxes as well because I have a latex allergy and some of the butters like shea are related to latex. Bees wax has been a problem too. It’s a matter of skin patch test before knowing if a reaction will occur. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge!

      Hi there! Allergies are no joke! We have had a few customers that have had bad allergies, but it sounds like yours are quite serious. We always cured our unscented soap separately, but more importantly, we made it in a different mold. I think what often happens with unscented soap is that it is made in a mold that all the other soaps are made in and if that mold has a silicone liner, the scent can transfer and lavender is one that transfers very easily. For dry skin and extreme sensitivities like yours, I'd recommend 100% olive oil soap. You really have to read the label to be sure that's what it is, because many people use the term "olive oil soap", but it has other ingredients in it. I am also aware of one soapmaker on Etsy called Rocky Top Soap Shop that ONLY makes unscented soap, so this might be a good option for you. We make a soap called The Minimalist (we have the recipe on our website) that addresses most allergies. It contains olive oil, coconut oil, coconut milk, cocoa butter, avocado butter, and castor oil. That's it. The percentage of coconut oil used is also something to look for, as coconut oil can be quite drying in high percentages and many handmade soapmakers use a high amount of coconut oil to harden their bars. I hope that helps a little! It is very true that nearly every soap I look at in a store that says "natural" on it, isn't actually all-natural. Most soap contains fragrance and it's actually really tough to find soap without it!

      @markie3394 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @ thank you so much for reaching out to me and for these tips! I have been using straight coconut oil which may be acerbating my problem. Had no idea! What a blessing to have found you!

    • @muddymintsoap
      @muddymintsoap  2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@markie3394 Straight coconut oil on your skin should be fine, but when coconut oil is saponified to make soap, it turns into sodium cocoate, which gives a soap cleansing qualities, which translates to the soap being very drying if used in too high of an amount. Newer soapmakers often confuse this "cleansing" property as being a good thing in soap, since soap should be cleansing! But, the reality is that coconut oil is drying in soap. It is tough to know if the coconut oil amount is high in a soap just by looking at an ingredients list, as the amount of superfat (extra unsaponified oils) in the soap makes a huge difference as well, but if a soap feels too drying on your skin, it's probably because the soapmaker used a lot of coconut oil. I hope this helps clarify and thanks so much for your comment! :)

    • @muddymintsoap
      @muddymintsoap  5 วันที่ผ่านมา +6

      Hi there and great question! I personally just use unscented soap for that area. The Minimalist, Goat Milk & Oatmeal, or Oatmeal & Aloe are good choices. Wash on the outside only with gentle unscented soap and water (do not wash internally). This is just my own opinion, as I don't feel like feminine hygiene products are required! You cannot change the pH of cold process soap (even though many people claim you can). There's so much misinformation out there about this kind of stuff, but simple is usually best. :)

    If you’re using fragrance, micas and some other colorant, you still can’t call it all natural. All essential oils are not all natural and cannot be used on the skin. There are some preservatives that are natural. You can only use that word based off the ingredients that you use in your product period! That’s it, that’s all!

    • @muddymintsoap
      @muddymintsoap  3 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Hi there! Yes, this recipe is made with 100% natural ingredients. We never use fragrances or micas and this body butter has no added colorant. All the oils and butters in this body butter are natural. All our essential oils are also natural, which is stated in the "Pure and Natural" statement provided in the Quality and Regulatory information for this essential oil. We only purchase essential oils from reputable sources that also have proper documentation. That's not to say that all essential oils are safe, particularly if usage rate guidelines are not followed, and some people are allergic to essential oils. But, this is a product made with 100% natural ingredients. Now, if you're talking about labeling laws, those differ depending on what country you are in and that's just a whole other conversation! But, when I say "all natural" in this video, that's what I mean. :)

      How would mica not be natural 🤔 it's a rock from the earth 🤔 also, essential oils are not "fragrance " fragrance is man made and real essential oils again are from the earth 😊

    • @muddymintsoap
      @muddymintsoap  21 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      Most micas actually are not natural as most have synthetic color added to them. Here’s some good information on it! support.candlescience.com/hc/en-us/articles/16846435046807-Are-micas-natural. In general, all essential oils are natural but many people label fragrances as essential oils, which is frustrating for buyers. I recently spoke with someone who thought he was using an essential oil, but when I looked at the details, it was actually a fragrance.

    ridiculous you would try to sell your recipe! scammer! too many people give their recipes away for free! Surprised you have that many subscribers!

    • @muddymintsoap
      @muddymintsoap  วันที่ผ่านมา

      I understand that on TH-cam people often give out recipes for free. Our recipe is different though, and I'll explain why. If you've never heard of us before, we are a well-established soap company that has been in business for nine years. We've been formulating and perfecting our recipes (including this body butter recipe) for a long time. Our recipes have always been proprietary and we've sold hundreds of thousands of bars of soap and thousands of jars of body butters. Our products were available in over 600 stores across the US, as well as in other countries. The point here is that this body butter recipe, along with our soap recipes are proven recipes. I'm not just fiddling around in my kitchen with body butter recipes and giving them away for free. Would you buy a proprietary recipe for a product that you absolutely love from a well-established business? Many people would and most business never share their recipes. We have over 90K subscribers on instagram and many soapmakers are following us there and using these recipes to build their businesses because they KNOW that customers will love these products because these products are proven in the market. If you are just making body butter for yourself at home and don't have a business, then paying for a body butter recipe might seem ridiculous, but you can watch this video for FREE, use the tips and tricks I provide if you find them useful, and then apply them to a free recipe that you can find online. It's totally up to you! There's no need to attack someone on TH-cam when you have no idea of who they are or what kind of business and customer-base they have built. We've worked very hard to get where we are, and we charge for our recipes because they are worth it. It's also how we can continue to be in business and many people have bought our recipes and created businesses of their own. I get emails every day from people that have been able to grow their businesses thanks to our recipes and advice. Honestly, this body butter recipe is amazing and worth every penny. I am confident that people that buy it will love it, which is why your comment didn't bother me at all and kind of made me chuckle. You get to decide if you're one of those people or if you just want to enjoy the free content we provide! Have a great day!
