Had the same problem myself but with a new one. I fixed it. It wasn't the rubber seal that was the problem but the shelf/lip inside the flask that it rests on when you screw it down. There were just tiny little bits of 'foreign matter' stuck to the shelf which was obviously comprising the integrity of the seal. I gave it a good scrub with the rough side of a kitchen sponge and some soapy water to remove it and it works perfectly now 👍👍
@@EFFICIENTSELF Thank you for your video good sir👍 It made me take a closer look at that part of the flask. Their quality control isn't very good either. They obviously don't test them. It was just a tiny bit of residue that was causing the problem 🙏
The original stopper that came with the Stanley flask I bought did exactly like the one you showed at 5:40. It's made of very poor quality plastic. Didn't feel safe to keep using it because some plastic will make it's way into the water that was trying to keep hot. Been hoping to find a place that sells the spare part stopper that is more reasonably priced but still looking and if I don't have any luck soon, I might as well get rid of the rest of the flask.
They tell you lifetime warranty to suck you in with no after sales service at all. They are not what they used to be. I’m currently trying the thermos brand out and going good so far will do a video later on down the track . Thanks for watching 👍🍻
In the uk i got a replacement stopper and seal for free because Stanley honour their lifetime warranty. It's usually the rubber seal at the bottom that fails to seal not the plastic threads.
I guess Stanley honours their lifetime warranty as long as it is in the UK or the States... down here we've got "another thing comin' '". Cheers from Patagonia
Hey mate I would stop supporting Stanley and would not buy them anymore. If they claim lifetime and cannot even reply to a email I would tell them to stick it. Clever trick to fix it though that you have worked out. Cheers!
Michael19872011 yeah thanks mate.. i have tried the other types of thermoses especially the cheap ones and they not worth buying.. when my stopper plugs are finally stuffed , not sure what im gonna do.. the stanley are the best i come accross but they dont last and not made like they used to be .. stanley probably have sold 100 of their flasks the time it took me to write this message back to you 😂 .. thanks for the support and viewing mate 👍🍻

Holy shit. That last example is what I just woke up to today - a ring of plastic came off from the seating that secures the silicone gasket! Unbelievable replacement prices now in 2023. £32 for a replacement stopper for my 1.9L classic.
@@EFFICIENTSELF Well, i'll test it as I have nothing to lose. Like you, I used my bottle daily (for just over 1 year). Heavy use. Hot water only. Always topped up at my workplace before going home. Carried everywhere. The bottle itself is in very good condition, all things considered. Still has the paper Double XL graphic band around it. But yes, what's with the plastic stopper?!! C'mon Stanley.
When I was a kid, my uncle had one he ran over with a bulldozer. Looked terrible. Worked just fine but held a bit less. He was terribly proud of that thing.
in the UK, customer service responded in 24h with a £80 voucher to get a whole new flask... so I got the 2.3L one (thx Stanley!!!... great service). But yes this so needs to be a stainless steel stopper, this is not sustainable nor lifetime.
Awesome to hear about the customer service in UK. In Australia it’s non existent, I end up throwing my flask in the rubbish bin as it became unusable. Take care ,keep safe and thanks for watching 👍🍻
Since your post of 4 years ago, price has risen to even greater amounts. Very hard to get now. Aftersales service pretty non existent and most replacement stoppers and cups out of stock (permanently??). Product for life promise simply not backed up.
It's disappointing to hear that the price has increased significantly and that aftersales service and availability of replacement parts have been lacking still. A product for life should indeed come with reliable support and readily available parts. I have been using the thermos brand now for the past 4 years and customer service great and replacement stoppers are reasonably priced and available. Thanks for watching 👍🍻
Sealing properly a metal thread that holds hot liquid ain't possible - they expand and the liquid will go through, even if you use a fine thread (there are other ways to stop this but they can't be used here). There is a reason these are plastic - they are oversized and stay pressed against the metal even when heated.
my Stanley is in trouble and the boiling water is made cold. and it model is stanley Adventure Vacuum Bottle 1.1QT/1.0L - Hammertone Green. the stopper is fine And i thought gasket had problem.can i fix it? or it should be replaced? i really needs your help
