Aside from some weird changes from the comics, like bracelets instead of actual rings... i think this was a great movie. I truly think it's one of the best in the MCU.
Bruce Lee was originally tapped for the lead role in Kung Fu, but thanks to “good ole American racism” he was deemed ‘too Chinese,’ so David Carradine was hired.
Wow. It is interesting how you did not like this movie as much as other MCU movies when in fact this is universally praised as one of the best in phase IV of MCU.
In the comics, the 10 rings are actual rings but they made em like bracelets in the MCU. Also the Ten Rings organization was shown in Iron Man and Iron Man 3, as well as teased in Ant-Man
The chi twins could actually be so OP in this universe. Both having their mums powers, maybe BOTH with those rings, the sister has the dragon and both of them are arguably the best trained fingers on the planet. 👀 it’s a crime a sequel isn’t alrwsdy filming
The Ten Rings is a reference to the organization Tony Stark fought in the first Iron Man. The ten rings is a nod to the comic book villain The Mandarin, an Iron Man villain who was powered up by ten technologically advanced rings. Each ring having a different power. In the MCU they made them ten armbands. The rings are neither inherently evil or good. It all depends on the intent of the wearer. 😮 The souls are taken from the villagers fighting the smaller soul devourers. 😮
I think it gave you guys a different feel because it is a little bit different with the storyline and the chinese culture so it made it feel like a different movie even though it is part of the Marvel universe and I think that’s what knocked the guys off, even though you guys enjoyed the movie, but it didn’t feel like it tied in with the previous marvel movies for you guys. That’s what I got from y’all’s reaction.
I think yall are confused. Shang chi doesn't have powers... he's just the greatest martial artist in the world (aside from the rings that he got at the end of the movie)
I heard another reactor say this point, which might explain why u guys arent quite feeling these movies as much as before. The movies in phase 1 was just getting u started, so u had no expectations. And the movies after the first avengers was just continuing the plot after that new york battle, with tony fighting anxiety and loki being arrested, but everything from guardians onwards was to do with infinity stones, and there was a big plot (with the exception of ant man and civil war). I think the issue with these phase 4 movies is that theres soooo many characters and yet were not sure where were going with these movies, we dont know how theyre going to use these characters at this stage. I think theyre starting to tie everything together in 2025-2026. So maybe give it time
So there's a short called all hail the king, also on disney+, that shows Trevor in prison and famous for playing the mandarin. It shows how he got broken out of prison
I think that so many people have this narrow view of what Marvel is supposed to look like: Super heroes with powers in tights, the traditional heroes. So when they see something that is different they're disappointed. It's not all just straight action adventures anymore. Marvel has different genres. This was a fantasy martial arts movie with inspiration from classic Chinese martial arts films at heart. It wasn't amazing but it was still good, imo. You'll start seeing more diverse genres across the MCU from here out, so expect some different vibes across the TV shows and movies.
I was so pleasantly surprised when I saw this in the theater. I was just happy to have an MCU movie, but never expected to like it as much as I did (and still do). Loved the choreography and really love Simu & Awkwafina...they're so great together.
I think that undefined issue you have is that the Marvel characters have advanced their story for so long, whereas a new character is taking you back to beginning levels, when you are eager to see the story advance. At least, that’s how I feel.
I always got the feeling that the person Shang was sent to kill as a kid was Katy's grandfather. That or he was an innocent bystander who got caught in the cross fire. So Shang stayed behind to look after his family. Feels like that could have been a plot point that didn't survive a script rewrite.
They most likely changed it because it'd be too similar to the Infinity Gauntlet but I honestly love this change, the most original weapon idea I've ever seen
Woooo!!!!!! i was really looking forward to this one!!! this is my number one mcu movie! i saw it 8 times in theaters, which is the most i’ve ever done for a single movie Edit: omg i just finished the reaction and i am FLOORED by your reviews 🤣 i'm glad you at least liked it, but i didn't expect to hear "bored" or "captain marvel level" lol. that cracked me up so much! i get it though. we all have our own tastes with these movies. i am very worried about what's to come lol. phase 4 is A LOT of new characters, so you might struggle with a lot of the upcoming projects, but you might also be really surprised. nonetheless, it's going to be entertaining to see how you respond to the rest of this phase!
Comparing this to black widow is blasphemy. Black widow was pure dogshit. Nothing redeeming about it. This movie had really good fight choreography, and was very well paced.
Dude, let her speak, during the intro she can’t get one word in before you’re yapping and interrupting her. We know your the needy one for attention, but Christ on a cross, let her finish a thought.
Here is he thing, i dont want to go back to the old Marvel movies. It's not as good or diverse or complex. They are simple and straight forward. This has a child challenging his father in a culture where that doesnt happen. And trying to convince a stubborn parent can be, thinking they know better
It is time for SPIDER MAN NO WAY HOME🕷🕸🎉🎉 (next movie which released after shang chi) Edit: it's actually eternals but I don't think u have to watch it
Eternals is important for the future of the MCU, so yes, they should watch it. A major plot point of the MCU starting next year will stem from that movie.
Aside from some weird changes from the comics, like bracelets instead of actual rings... i think this was a great movie. I truly think it's one of the best in the MCU.
I actually like the changes they made to the rings, it's actually fitting to one of the weapons Chinese culture uses
14:26 that's Abomination from The Incredible Hulk
Shang Chi was created in the early 70's when Enter The Dragon hit big followed by the tv series Kung Fu. He's been around awhile.
Yep, also Iron Fist a k.a. Danny Rand wanting to cash in on the karate Kung Fu trend of the 70's
Bruce Lee was originally tapped for the lead role in Kung Fu, but thanks to “good ole American racism” he was deemed ‘too Chinese,’ so David Carradine was hired.
"Why didn't you ever fight me and bring me a picnic?"
"I will. Didn't think you'd be down."
My favorite exchange in the last few months.
Wow. It is interesting how you did not like this movie as much as other MCU movies when in fact this is universally praised as one of the best in phase IV of MCU.
These movies are about personal preferences
In the comics, the 10 rings are actual rings but they made em like bracelets in the MCU. Also the Ten Rings organization was shown in Iron Man and Iron Man 3, as well as teased in Ant-Man
The beauty of the MCU is that ability of bringing such unique characters together.
The chi twins could actually be so OP in this universe. Both having their mums powers, maybe BOTH with those rings, the sister has the dragon and both of them are arguably the best trained fingers on the planet. 👀 it’s a crime a sequel isn’t alrwsdy filming
I think they're already set to film the sequel next year.
@@icecreamcake5381 I hope so. This was my Favorite Marvel movie made after Endgame.
Racism is alive and well in America..
That was the Abomination.
He could get into legal trouble from fighting in that cage. He should be careful.
;-)
Fun fact: The guy with the sword as a prosthetic is played by Florian Munteanu, who played Viktor Drago in Creed II.

This movie made People realise that in real life people are complex, they are not evil or good.

You guys keep saying you don’t want to say you didn’t like it but you only talk about the negative parts you thought about it.
They were actual rings in comics, each having a different power but they changed it because that was too much like infinity stones.
The choreographer is one of Jackie Chan's stunt team
I was so pleasantly surprised when I saw this in the theater. I was just happy to have an MCU movie, but never expected to like it as much as I did (and still do). Loved the choreography and really love Simu & Awkwafina...they're so great together.
Fun fact, in the comics 10 rings are actually finger rings and they changed them in the mcu, because they function kinda like infinity stones.
I think that undefined issue you have is that the Marvel characters have advanced their story for so long, whereas a new character is taking you back to beginning levels, when you are eager to see the story advance.
At least, that’s how I feel.
0:19 I actually love that lol. Especially since it's the small time Maria Hill doesn't know anything

Anything that glows purple is from the dark dimension means creatures of Dormamu's dimension.
Open palm versus Closed fist. A tale as old as time as well as Jade Empire
Tristan better also give Sam a fight and a picnic!
“I wonder where they’re getting the souls?” Uhhh did we not see the people getting attacked by mini soul-eaters taking their souls just a moment ago?
2:21 that's how they were in the comics. Every ring had a different colour and a different power but the MCU changed it for some reasons
They most likely changed it because it'd be too similar to the Infinity Gauntlet but I honestly love this change, the most original weapon idea I've ever seen

You guys have to watch venom 1&2 movies
Have you guys watch tobey and Andrew spider man movies
in the comics they WERE finger rings
The best of the marvel movies since endgame
It's good you guys come in to these movies. The way it should be.
One of the best marvel movies
Comparing this to black widow is blasphemy. Black widow was pure dogshit. Nothing redeeming about it. This movie had really good fight choreography, and was very well paced.
next is eternals
Great visuals great choreography great screen writing. Great reaction guys. I quite like this movie!
Did the marvel reactions stop?
I wonder why
Mad they cut out the best part of the fight scene
I believe it's Eternals next. And I also believe the ten rings came from them.
Are you guys not gonna continue the mcu collection?
In Mortal Kombat 2021, at the end Sonya Blade acquires similar rings of power… is there a link??

Moonknight or loki?
Hawkeye

There is something wrong with audio when we use headphones
Can´t wait for you to start Moon Knight.
Still my favorite MCU TV series. So good. Can't wait for them to see it. Hopefully they enjoy it.
I totally get your review at the end. It definitely felt a little flat to me too. Still enjoyed it tho

I hope they don't change the origin story of the ten rings in the next movie.
So what if they do?
@@K-dawg26 Yes, never mind
This is not the Shang Chi I grew up with. He was actually better.
fuck yes, Shang-Chi time has come!!!
This movie was okay until the finale. Then it loses all sense😂
I love the content been watching 5 months
Why is all the dialogue in the movie muted? That literally makes no sense, pretty terrible editing choice.

What a weird vibe from this video, and these comments.
