    1. The mounting bracket screws in to the alarm, it wont just come off. 2. The plastic to mount it may be cheap on its own yes BUT actually mount it and try to pull it off. Cant break it pulling or even kicking it. I went and reinforced the plastic with some cable heat shrink, it also stops the plastic from scratching your paint so bonus. Its a great alarm if you mount it properly, which you didnt.

    I don't get it. Why worry about someone stealing the alarm? If they try to steal the alarm or disable it, the alarm will go off.

    I got this and i like it. I feel like its a great addition to having a lock too. Imagine being a bike thief you see a lock touch the bike it goes off super loudly. Most people would just be like f*** that, its too much of a hassle to steal.
    Its great for me as i use it on my ebike that i use to do doordash. So if i cant find a place to lock up my bike i just lock the back tire and frame then set the alarm and leave it outside.
    Is a thief really gonna go through the trouble of carrying a 50 pound bike thats blaring car alarm sounds? I think not. And if they did try that i would hear the alarm and run out and pepper spray them lol.
    So in conclusion, if you get a U bike lock with a cable, this alarm and pepper spray you should have a good chance of keeping your bike 😂

    I have one with the remote identical but the alarm itself is a little different. It stopped working right when I set it. It basically doesn't work it will make the beep beep sound when I set it but won't go off maybe it needs new batteries. I just ordered one the other day identical to the one you are reviewing hopefully it will hold up and work right. Thank you for the review.

    Have people never heard of 3M Dual Lock? Dosnt matter if people can take it off - its an alarm, it will go off. The beauty of dual lock is that the adhesive is water proof and really strong, and the lock between 2 pieces is so strong it takes a lot of effort to prise apart. you have to do it gently and progressively

  • @mkygod
    @mkygod ปีที่แล้ว +2

    maybe find a way to hardmount it to your lock or find a lock with a builtin alarm. The lock is what's going to see the most motion when someone is trying to defeat it. Whereas someone could cut through a cable or chain without moving the bike.

      The alarm is really sensitive, unless you turn down the sensitivity the lightest touch will set it off

    How do I adjust the sensitivity? Mine is way too sensitive even slight wind set's it off

    The ideaology behind budget, or dirt cheap bicycle alarms and their construction is to allow for easy access to temporary security options that may hold you over until being able to purchase a fully dependable (usually more higher end) bicycle alarm system. If a fully dependable and more durable bike alarm is what garners your interests, then I'd start with something more concrete, like the knog Scout for instance, with which all these unsatisfying conditions and more are met.

      Hehehehehhe!!! I was looking for LED tail lights for my Nomad 1700cc 2011 but couldn't find something easy to install, so I stared looking into double tape leds and then found rechargeable Leds. I was like im gonna try these, so Iordered them yesterday and just received them today. I may make a short video of how its going to turn out.
      After seeing your comments I am like okay its good that im not the only one trying this method.

    I'd probably just keep it in a bag or something attached to the bike so when it goes off they're more confused of where it is and not as eat to notice and rip off the bike

    The bracket is not as quick and easy to snip through like the tie wraps.
    The tie wraps literally just need a knife, this bracket needs a cutting tool or Allen key

  • @sgtredrhino2009

    The brackets to hold it arent ment to withstand an attack. The intended use is to leave it off until your ready and u simply set it on and press a button. Even if someone knocks it off your bike (which is almost garaunteed to happen if someone steals it) its letting people in the area know whats going on. Its HIGHLY recommended u use something else aswell as this but people will always look at 1 sort of security messure and expect it to do it all. Like what were u expecting it to hold battery for years and withstand a sledge hammer? U can get one like that but not for 20 bucks ya cheapskate 😂 if ur bike is worth more than 20 bucks your gonna regret using this to lock it

    If you hit the alarm with hammer or rock would it still work?? seems someone could easily just take it off and step on it. Too many ways to disarm these devices. It should be hidden where you can't see it so easily.

    • @YourFavoriteCyclist
      @YourFavoriteCyclist  ปีที่แล้ว

      Pretty sure it would just break, the outside shell is just plastic.

    • @mr.k905

      Try to mount it in a place where it’s not possible to get it destroyed (with a hammer) …or at least too difficult, so that the alarm will go off when someone will need many attempts to do so.

    Stupidest review ever. The point of the alarm is to draw attention if the bike is tampered with. If someone attempted to remove the alarm, snip the zip ties with wire cutters or knock it off the bracket, the sensitivity would trigger the alarm drawing unwanted attention to the thief before they can try to cut your cablelock, chain, or defeat your u lock or cut the padlock on your bike chain.
    They need to have a requirement that one needs to have the minimum of a High School diploma to leave product reviews.

      I actually own this alarm. It's cheap but for the $8 spent, it is a audible deterrent that accompany the Kryptonite U lock I secure the frame of my BK8 ebike and the chain lock I use on the front tire (it's quick release). I have it mounted with an aluminum zip Xie behind the battery (out of sight).
      The point of my purchase is as soon as anyone touch the bike to mess with my locks, the alarm backs them off.
      I had someone tru to pry open the U lock on my EXPENSIVE electronic motorcycle (unsuccessfully) and I suffered serious damage to the paint on my frame (down to the bare metal).
      A loud alarm shoo-ing them away BEFORE they could try to attack the locks prevents a bunch of grief.
      Sidenote: if a thief really want the bike, they'll come back for it. They'll make a 2nd pass and visually find the alarm , see how it's connected, and remove it as it's blaring

    What year did you make this video? It must have been made with the softest camera sold in the last 10 years. Ever heard of Android or i-Phone? Crappy video undermines your credibility. The idea is to have the alarm go off if someone tries to cut your D-lock, or tries to remove the alarm, etc. The point of an alarm is to attract attention, so the mounting is not that critical.
