omg? every tour / tourist type video should have accessibility remarks? now that ive seen you do that so smoothly it's so obvious that this is something that is missing on most channels? thank you martina
I think until people experience struggling with stairs, curbs, and bumpy roads…they’ll never think to include it. But as an off-and-on cane user, who uses escalators and elevators to save on energy, I’ll always try my best to include these important tips 💕
Totally! I started to add this info into any TripAdvisor/Google reviews once I started to work with infants with motor disabilities. Even thought these babies don’t use a wheelchair or a cane, families often need to use strollers for their and their child’s comfort or medical devices. I hope we continue to provide a more accessible world for everyone.
I’m a white cane user and really appreciate it when other people think about things like that. I use pedestrian lights that make a sound to find them and a different sound when they turn green. Some people complain about the noise because they don’t know what that beeping and clicking is actually about. In my case, it prevents me from involuntarily getting an Uber lift the hard way 😂 But other people only understand the importance of aids like that, when they need to use it themselves or when they know someone who does.
I also loved this note. When I visited Japan I was sad that my mother would likely never be able to visit because she has mobility problems. The truly historical places she would be interested in aren’t really accessible to wheelchairs.
I really don't think Martina understands how grateful we are to her for keeping up with the content we love and these videos like God knows how much I appreciate this woman and her hard work today I'm a little emotional entire and sick in this video is helping me with that I myself don't understand I just love everything about this channel I'm so grateful for this content it makes me so happy it calms me on my hard days I also love how relaxing the background music is that helps my brain injury a lot and things are simple and I can understand and she teaches us a little bit of Japanese as well I mean did they go to Japan and I will the day I go I will have her videos to guide me. As well gurl God Bless you honestly iam so grateful for your hard work.
And you don't understand how grateful I am to read all of your comments and to see the community still thriving. You have all helped me push through very dark and difficult times, so I'm happy to work hard for you. 🙇🏼♀😭
Your “off the beaten path” style of exploring Tokyo is so inspiring. It matches the way that I travel. Ever since finding this channel, my travel note book has been filling up. “Small world” is even circled.
I love the King Kogi Trivia and just how you shoot your videos. It makes it feel like I'm watching No Reservation's or a food tour on the travel channel. It's really comforting :)
That's so great to hear and what a compliment. Anthony Bourdain was a huge inspiration, I hope to keep his relaxed real-life attitude alive in in the food travel world via my little Tokyo Tours.
Knowing which exit to take and where one can have a quick sit-down are honestly the things I've struggled most with researching in advance. Whenever I travel to Japan, I always do so with an older relative, so those details are super important, and make it an easier and more enjoyable trip for them .
So fun to see lesser known areas of Tokyo. Never been to this area, though I know sangenjaya. The craft beer bar looks amazing!!! And thank you for including the accesibility info like where an elevator is. that is something that isn't mentioned a lot at all.... But so vital to know if you need it 💕
I've been dealing with some awful postpartum depression and anxiety. Your videos always have a calming effect. It is wonderful to be able to lie back, feel relief and listen to the wonderful music and watch your adventures. Thank you for bringing me and others much joy.
Tokyo Tours is the BEST series of its type on TH-cam. Even those of us who have touristed through Japan multiple times learn something new and awesome out of every one of these vids. Seriously Martina this is awesome! Thank you!
Thanks so much! I felt like there were so many TH-cam videos available that deal with the same spots over and over again, no one really needs me to add to that 🤷🏼♀️ I’m so so happy you can learn something new, especially as a repeat tourist to Japan 🥳
@@KingKogi Hi Martina! Your take on even the well trod places is unique and you always have something interesting, and entertaining, to say. Thank you for what you do so well 😍🤩
Hey Martina. I just wanted to say that you've helped me build a lot of ladders! I have been watching you since the old school eat your kimchi days. I have been homeless, carless, and even foodless. But your vibe and videos helped me live and thrive through it all. So thank you so much for being such an influence on my life! I've taken everything you've said and I hope I can help just one person, just like you did with me.
Wow......as a strong fan of Japan life vlogs, and having lived in Tokyo before, I just have to make comment on how insanely professional and high level your production is! While other amateur vids also have their place, your high quality production style really adds to the entertainment factor by not being distracted by one-armed amateur level production . Thank you!!
I am Japanese. Sangenjaya is close to Shibuya, where you can experience Tokyo culture. It also has a large park, which is suitable for taking a walk or playing sports. I hope many foreign tourists come here. Thanks for the nice video!!
Please never stop making these I look forward to every one you put out. You are one of my favourite creators and I use your content to make me calm and relax because the vibes are just so soothing. Xx
Martina you are a gift to the world! Reminders to bring cash, featuring local mom and pop stalls, accessibility tips, a black and white commercial about King Kogi merch recovering from onions making you cry (poignant!)--incredible. Incredible in like 8 languages.
I just found your videos last night. On my first trimester feeling sick every night… watching your videos giving me some calm comforting vibes I couldn’t explain with words❤
Welcome to the King Kogi community! Ooof, first trimester blues, haven’t experienced it myself but have heard many a woes from my friends 😩 so happy to hear these videos can bring a little comfort somehow.
I actually really enjoy that the places you bring us aren't well-treaded touristy areas. I visited Japan with my sister almost a decade ago and we went to all of the touristy places...but we also went to one ramen place under an overpass in the middle of who-knows-where. We actually went there twice during our week vacation in Japan. My favorite memory of our trip? Going to that hole-in-the-wall, mom-and-pop ramen place under the overpass! These neighborhood gems really made the vacation for me.
I love these tours so much! Thank you for putting so much hard work and care into them- it clearly shows! If you ever somehow run out of ideas, I think a video on tattoo-friendly places in Japan could be cool! As a fellow human with many tattoos, I have heard it’s difficult to enter some places in Japan (????). Keep being awesome, Martina! 🎉
I have a massive sleeve and I’ve never had a problem entering any place. So so so many people touch it and ask about it, just today an older lady told me they love how colourful it is compared to Japanese tattoos! But when it comes to swimming pools and onsen, yes, you gotta find a tattoo friendly place
This channel is so good. I live in Kichijoji, and watch a fair number of Japantubers, but most of them are either big-time tubers doing big-time crazy adventures like Abroad in Japan, Sharmeleon, Tokyo Lens, etc., or they're people who are like, HEY, HAVE YOU EVER HEARD OF THIS PLACE CALLED AKIHABARA? IT'S CRAZY! THERE ARE MAIDS ON THE STREET! HAHAHA! It's rare to find a Japantuber who just... shows you cool, out-of-the-way places in a really casual, fun, yet obviously highly informed manner. It's really refreshing, and I swear every video of yours that I watch gives me one more place to add to the list of places I need to check out on any given weekend. ;) Thanks for doing what you do!
Hi Martina! I was recently diagnosed with hEDS~ it was totally not what I was expecting when I sent in to see an orthopedic specialist for what I thought was an injury, but here we are. I have been watching your content for years, and it is sort of funny that I ended up being a Zebra sister. But the accessibility information is so useful and I thank you SO MUCH for sharing this. I have a lot of pain (which I thought was how normal people lived their lives) in my joints/body so having elevator access will be a MUST for my second visit of Japan.
I was feeling really down before watching this but whenever I join you on Tokyo Tours it always brings me some much needed chill, joy and comfort, thanks for sharing these little gems Martina. Can't wait til the next episode!
Another stellar episode of. Tokyo Tour, Marina! Keep up the good work! Really enjoyed seeing Tokyo through your lenses. Looking forward to your next video!
Thank you Martina for showing us all the hidden gems that we normally would overlook. And I really like the vibe of this video, so relaxing, soothing and informative. Also, u cracked me up when u "sang" the song in the middle of the street. U do have a sense of humor, Martina!
As a 42yo Hip-hop god of yore, that no longer tags.... 👀.... I can confirm 10/10 is a tagger/sticker bomber/ black book bandit/ graffiti artist. Also, adore you and the videos, thank you for the mental health boost 💜
As for the free Karaoke, I‘d be well prepared. We‘re renovating the house and our handyman keeps blasting the same 80s and early 90s ballads classics EVERY DAY for 5 months now. Must admit that this part of the video made my left eye twitch nervously for a bit. 😂
Ha! Before I really understood my EDS, I had so many injuries in high school, so much using crutches and dislocating things, my snowboard and field hockey coach used to call me “Gimpy” as a nickname 😂 some people were offended but not me! I embraced it!
These videos are always amazing. They are so fun and helpful! The videos keep getting better and better, its clear a lot of hard work and passion goes into each of these ❤️❤️❤️

Dear Martina, amazing video. So fresh and funny and such lovely places you show. Thanks. It once happened to me that the bottle of water got stuck in the vending machine.
