Short answer: Lower air density results in reduced thrust and lift.

@Nigo Maramag It means that (theoretically) you could accelerate faster and to a higher top speed... if you had engines that didn’t produce thrust by moving air, such as a rocket engine.

Once I fried eggs on a rock it was that hot, during cold weather, inexperienced pilots usually go up way to fast and instead of staying around 35k-36k feet, end up in the high 40's. 40 degrees in summer is very normal here in Australia. (To our American friends this is all in celsius, not Fahrenheit)

@@titanicseaturtle3808 My mechanical engineering high school (the school many future pilots choose before going to university for ATPL license) required one month of "practical work" per year (I can't find the correct translation from Slovenian language). I worked at an aircraft maintenance company (I don't know if I am allowed to tell the name). I have a lot of flight simulator experience so they let me sit on FO side while doing testing, they let me start it from cold and dark, program the FMC... and we were doing this almost every day. This is very good because it gives you some practical experience for working with people, following procedures, get familiar with the real cockpit.
The cockpit on a picture is from an Adria Airways (now defunct) A319 S5-AAX from 1999. It had an old FMC and old CRT displays and I have spent many hours in that cockpit. Sadly it was scrapped a month ago. Here is a video of me programming the FMC in it: th-cam.com/video/4xarEgMcOGg/w-d-xo.html

Tbf you have to remember houses in Northern Europe are designed for European winters so are designed to keep the heat in(and rarely have Aircon or fans). As a result it usually much warmer inside than outside when it's summer in Europe. In the same way, you'd probably feel the cold much more at -5° in most of your houses than the average European house would.

The engines loss of performance is not only because of the thinner air (which is partially true), but also because simplifying, the power of a turbine is determined by how much you can rise the temperature. Since there is a limit at which materials just start malfunctioning, we have a maximum amount of fuel that we can put into de mixture to rise the temperature. Coming from a higher temperature means that the highest temperature is reached sooner, therefore having a loss of power. For more info, google Brayton cycle

I mean, at reports like Deer Valley in AZ, we have frequent 110 Fahrenheit days in the summer, Cessna aircraft takeoff frequently (also we’re at around 1000 ft)

High Temps makes planes nearly un flyable-the cooling systems for the engines likely won’t be able to meet the demands, the cabin pressurization system will likely be under performing, and you’ll have likely thermal expansion of fixed structural components, which can increase mechanical stress on the airframe.

Airliners land and take off in Egypt, and it's 35-40c there usually. Doesn't seem to affect them like in the game here.

30 years ago today, temps went to 122 degrees here in Phoenix and Sky Harbor airport had to shut down. Planes didn’t have charts that factored in temps that high so pilots couldn’t legally take off.

Actually everyone. Alaska has many flights daily from SFO and SEA down to the lower desert to Palm Springs and not uncommon to have takeoffs in 124 degrees. And of course they have to cancel flights at times.

Hey Swiss001, I have a challenge for you. Land an aircraft, but when you do, spin it out and keep spinning it until it fully stops. Use the spinout to stop the plane. Dont overrun, spin more than once, and stay on the runway for a successful landing. Other challenge is to try landing backwards. Any plane, any runway for both
