Jerry Only is a genuinely very kind guy. I saw this lineup of Misfits when I was maybe 11 years old. I wound up getting tickets from an uncle and my father had no idea who they were or anything and took me. They played an incredible show probably like 50 punk songs they ripped through. He saw me on my fathers shoulders throwing devil horns the whole show so when they were signing autographs at the end he was all like "bring that kid to the front. Can you believe we have such young and passionate fans yadda yadda" then this guy takes me and my father backstage shows us the bus makes sure I meet and get markys autograph because he didn't do the signing just jerry and dez did the signing. I love the guy so much and just the misfits period. Jerry literally gave me and my father such a great night just doing those few little things. I'll remember that day with my dad til I die and I will always view Jerry as a stand up guy. Meant the absolute world to me as a child.

That’s a pretty dope experience/story. Especially for an 11 year old. When I was 17 my brother and I went to see Graves and after he used his I.D. he did a behind the back move and I used it. Totally worked. 😂

@@incognito9470 in terms of interviewers he is legendary. He's interviewed so many artists and always asks the most interesting questions and surprises them with his knowledge about random shit that nobody else knows/talks about. Also his persona and style is great.

Nardwuar is not just an interviewer, he is a historian. Had this interview never released, I would've never known there were members of The Ramones and Black Flag that were a part of Misfits. Thanks for being you Nardy.

Always surprises me these old guys know what year everything happened, I’m 33 - I couldn’t tell you what year I saw the misfits, or started work, or met my wife - these old guys be like in 83 I ate a really nice chicken dinner.

Can't say I truly loved the Only Misfits as much as the original (but who could live up to that band!), but geewhiz, having met Jerry Only, he was one of the most friendly people I've ever met from a band before. Came out before the show to take photos with people who arrived early, watched the local opening band and cheered them on, just so full of enthusiasm for everything he did that night.
It's not the same band, but it doesn't need to be.
Loves the fans that love him but is not a great guy to his band mates or family. Role model.

I met Dez Cadena at night, on the deck of an empty cruise boat, while sailing the Baltic sea.
He was smoking, I was eating cream cheese and started a converstion, because we were the only people on deck and no idea who he was at the time. He gave me free tickets to see Misfits play the following day. What an awesome guy!

@@laa0fa502 Haha, it kind of does. They were with a Japanese band called the 'Hat Trickers' who were all dressed up as the '(A) Clockwark Orange' crew. They got half naked and we ended up singing karaoke at the only bar on the ship, while the few middle-aged visitors gave us strange looks.

In American Hardcore (book) a guy says he went to stay with the brothers at their house in the early 80s. He thought they, Jerry and Doyle, would be dark, evil dudes living in coffins. Instead they would spend their time washing their muscle cars while blasting Van Halen. The guy said that was certainly NOT how he envisioned them. Ha!
Wow they’re all so down to earth and light hearted. Not exactly what I expected, but it was a nice surprise.
Jerry seems like such a humble dude from every interview I’ve seen of him. Wholesome laugh, the presence is amazing. Glad the Glen and Jerry were able to make amends and start touring again.

In 2013 i went to see Nardwuar's band The Evaporators live & before the show Nard was on the floor talking to fans & eating those "gold fish crackers". He's still a kid at heart.
The two cheeseburgers question is a reference to the story that Arthur Googy got kicked out of the Misfits because he wanted another cheeseburger and Glenn didn't want to pay for another one. So they fought and Googy's gone. Not too surprising Jerry didn't get it though--it's the kind of 'inside' question that needs a set-up.

Jerry Only lives an extremely healthy lifestyle and is the picture of responsible usage of steroids. He so positive and so down to earth. I genuinely hope to look half as good and be half as enthusiastic/kind, by the time I get to his age.

It made me so happy to see jerry say they used a lot from the ramones because as a mild music nerd I mentioned this to my father who I go to with a lot of the music I find and I feel like finally I’m starting to understand music.
Post-Graves, pre-reunion...let's be honest, no one misses the "Jerry drags the Misfits through the dirt" era.

I could have watch them in México City in 2004 but the crowd went crazy after "Dead Kennedys" and destroyed the drum set before Misfits. Crazy night.

I remember Jerry stage diving into the audience feet first, with his boot hitting me right on my forehead. I couldn't have been more proud.
This is the third time watching this and each time I have a huge silly grin on my face. All of these guys are great!
I’m more excited for Twilight of the Dead now. Hope we didn’t miss the boat on that one.
Twilight of the Dead ended up being Land of the Dead in 2005, and Romero passed in 2017
Used to work with a guy who lived near Jerry and baby sat his kids after they met while he was selling merch at a local show. Said unequivocally Jerry was the nicest 'rockstar/ celeb' you could ever meet despite his stage appearance. Down to earth dude with strong family values who happens to be in a fun line of work.
I meet Jerry and talked to him a couple of times. Dude really is the nicest and downest to earth guy.

Nardwuar was trying to get Jerry to tell a story with the "two cheese burgers" question. Apparently Glen Danzig wouldn't let then drummer Arthur Googy have two cheese burgers for budgetary reasons and Googy quit.
Jerry Only is awesome. Always cool. Met him several times over the years. Nothing but respect for Jerry.
Saw them few years ago. Opening band missed the plane so they played an hour extra and after the saw he stayed to sign and take pictures with all the fans, even when the bouncers were pushing to stop because they wanted to go home. So much respect for him.

Eating salad off of the tray at the buffet is about the most punk rock way to eat salad ever.
1. We saw the Misfits in Detroit with Gwar on Devil's Night. We were waiting in line and Jerry was going through the line signing stuff, but he looked like Bret Hart in sweats and a ball cap, so we didn't know who he was. Says to my friend's friend something like "Wow, I haven't seen that shirt in a long time. Do you want me to sign it?" That was an amazing show and an adventure.
2. Again Misfits in Detroit. We were waiting by their RV, he is talking to folks, mentions WWF. I ask "Is it true you are going to the WWF?" he says "Yeah, but they don't know it yet."

Marky Ramone's comment about the Ramones tribute album is what brought me here. I saw that clip on MuchMusic in 2001 on their news segment. Now watching the whole interview, Marky wanted to get that out at some point and the part about their parents seemed to be the right time. The album still got released, was advertised, probably didn't sell too many copies. Motorhead's tribute was a song called Ramones which was out years before the tribute album.
