Angela has been in the game for the past 20 something years and I believe she is on the same level as Meryl Streep. Yet, she hasn’t won an Oscar?
Now you probably know why she hasn’t won an Oscar (ie 2020 Oscar nominations)
The Oscars has been over 90% white for almost the entirety of its existence, why would you expect Angela Bassett to have an Oscar? One one woman of color has ever won the Leading Actress award. Of the actors to win an Oscar, 75% have played racist stereotypes (which Angela refuses to play) and 75% have been supporting characters to white protangists. The damn system is rigged against creatives of color.

Sad thing is Will Smith messed up the rare event of a black person winning an award for a non-stereotypical role by living up to a stereotype.

Excellent Actors; Laura’s father Mr. Bruce Dern is one of my top 3 western actors.
Angela Bassett is immensely talented...she worked so well with Whoopi Goldberg and her chemistry with Taye Diggs is unreal. Waiting To Exhale...where she displays so much emotion and depth...amazing dialogue...her chemistry with Lela, Whitney and Loretta...I love the late, great Whitney Houston...I do hope though that they work together again either a sequel or a different movie...they worked so well together which was epic. I own it. Angela is wonderful in every movie she's in no matter what role she's in...wish she was in the movie Soul Food...she would've been a wonderful 4th sister. Laura Dern is exquisite...I first noticed her in the movie Smooth Talk...such a powerful movie that touches on some many key points in life and shows how devious some people can be and a huge disadvantage to be a certain age in certain circumstances....she works incredibly with Treat Williams...would love to see them in another movie. Laura was groundbreaking in the tv show, Enlightened...wish it had a few more seasons....she was legendary...another deep rooted project and expresses hardships not only in the corporate world but also with personal struggles...she worked SO well with her mom, Diane Ladd was stellar...hope they do more movies together. She was excellent in We Don't Live Here Anymore...I own it. She worked with Naomi Watts, Mark Ruffalo & Peter Krause...I hope the four of them will be in a few more movies together...they're an extraordinary team....they bring out the best acting in each other. Laura expressed so much in that movie. LOVE this interview!!!!!!!!!
