Love the hidden Mickey on the water slide, and the adorable dolphin fountain! But I swear I am not the parent who boils their children in the hot tub 🤣 plus the theming continued into the middle section is adorable!
The slide for the sandcastle pool is really fun. When I was at Disney World last summer, my family and I stayed at OKW. My sister is a DVC member. One day we went to Wilderness Lodge and spent the day by the pool there. The entire pool area at Wilderness Lodge is better but OKW does get a point for having the better slide. I'm a big guy and I like to go down sitting rather than laying on my back. The tube for the slide at OKW was bigger so I could do that.
The small lounge at the end of the video is called Papa's Den. "Papa" was the nickname of famed author Ernest Hemingway while living/writing in Key West. The area is decorated with several nods to the Hemingway. On either side of the fireplace are sets of framed pens to reference Hemingway's writing. Hemingway loved cats and so there are eight small statues of cats in the den. There are several others items that pay homage to Hemmingway.... The marlin hanging, box of cigars, lion statues, etc. All of this is explained in detail during a nice complimentary walking tour that the resort holds (The Legend of Conch Flats).
Stayed here in 1993 and 1995. My mum and younger brothers stayed here in 1994. Sadly not a DVC Member. Still have a DVC drinking cup. Remember breakfast with Winnie and Tigger at Olivia's. Memories to last a life time.
Also guys, there is a tiny little arcade right next to Good's food to go..it's not much but is certainly fun if it's a rainy day or you are having a resort day. It's called Electric Eel Arcade btw
I was there in May with a friend who is DVC. LOVED THIS RESORT❣️I’ve been bitten by the DVC bug and this is where I want my ‘home’ to be. It is SO very relaxing and laid back. 😊
A “little” walk? 😂 It’s soooo spread out that it definitely takes a while to get around the property. I love the look of the property as well as the rooms...they’re like apartments or even small houses! However the drawbacks like the location (not that close to the parks), how spread out it is, and how there are a lot more bugs in and around the rooms in the summertime (winter is much much better though) make this resort one that we rarely stay in. I do love several aspects of it like the rooms and the food and the price range
Thank you for the walk through tour Pete. I am so happy it's been refurbished as it was looking quite dated. I never considered this resort as I own a DVC at Baylake Tower......but this resort is beautiful.
Glad we got a few little Pete 'rants' when crossing the road and boiling the grand kids in the spa. Pete should do a book of his 'rants' it would be very funny.
I really loved seeing this walk through. My parents have photos of me and my sister when we’re kids, sitting and hanging out on the big faux sand piles in the kiddie section. I may have been 2 or 3 at the time, so it would have been soon after it opened, which is so cool! I really love those photos and am so glad to learn that they were taken at this resort, as I’ve been trying to figure it out for awhile (and apparently didn’t want to ask my parents! 😂) All the grounds look lovely! I’d love to visit sometime. Thanks so much, Pete!
Man this brings back some memories, looks just as I remember, a few new things of course but wow. Literally my favorite resort Disney has. Also a quick edit, me and my family used to go to the turtle shack pool all the time instead of the main pool, a little more secluded, not as busy and they also had the actual turtle shack snack and drink bar, I can taste the strawberry daiquiri's now. Thanks for this video.
This is such a happy video, I love your narration style. I hope to stay here when I go to Disney World since they have the nicest looking accessible rooms and it doesn’t seem too crowded
Boiling away your grandchildren! Best line ever! We have always shied away from booking OKW because it was kind of out of the way, but I am now intrigued. I may book it when I take my folks there next November. Thanks for the walkthrough.
I love this resort, staying there again this Christmas! Also I love how there is "nothing you can make in the oven"... Pete I see frozen pizza and hashbrowns there! If you're microwaving those you're doing it wrong buddy :) although both are against your diet so i doubt you're making ether :)
Have been blessed to be able to stay at OKW numerous times, and ADORE this resort. SO relaxing and beautiful, and units so much bigger than elsewhere - you truly feel like you're home! CM's are so friendly, and I LOVE the boat ride on the Sassagoula, and Olivia's (especially for breakfast - I even went there when not staying). Only downside is only a few buildings right by CH with elevators. You brought back some great memories for me, would LOVE to be there again!
I’m thinking about staying there with my semi wheelchair bound sister thru a timeshare rental program. We don’t necessarily need a handicap room unless there are stairs. I see second/third floors with stairs. Are there also elevators? I guess if not we’ll need to make sure I have that clarified first!
If you have Amazon Prime, they can deliver fairly cheep grocery to your hotel ( The hotel charges you to deliver it to you room now, but you can go down a pick it up for free)
Yes, now a sandwich consists of a wrap for me. Not totally against French Toast, but yes bread is more far and few between. Will cheat with ice cream with sugar free carmel syrup. So I understand the evil Butterfinger ice cream. Good tour; nice to know they have the basics so you don't have to go far for it.
A suggestion of old key west or Disney overall is come it mid-February as then old key west is even more quite and never pick Saratoga springs over their grand villa is so ugly and tiny.
They stopped allowing new pictures in Olivia’s a number of years ago because there were too many and they were getting too big. They will let you update them if you already have one and it’s the same size
Thank you so much Pete for the walkthrough. I requested building 62 for my first stay in Dec this year and this is the first video I have found that show building 62 and the walk to hospitality house. I really appreciate it. This will be my first time staying deluxe. It's only one night but will definitely be a treat.
Staying close to the hospitality house is NOT a good place to stay...if you rent a car/ or drive there. Everyone parks in your parking lot to use the main pool or gift shop or whatever...... there's no "policing" of the situation !! Umm because its Disney and the cast members don't want to upset anyone !!!! oh also I've been to Disney enough to say all Disney food is horrible.........
DIS, after years of watching, I’ve never had a big issue with anything you’ve made. Some vids are good, some are meh but I like the variety and hard work you put in. However, this resort tour series is the single worst thing you’ve ever produced. The filming is super rushed and fast-paced. The picture quality (from an iPhone?!) is not like your other vids. You’re missing a ton of resort areas. And Pete is great but not for this series. For something that’s supposed to be a calm walk and tour, his tone is not appropriate. I’ve never compared your videos to others, but other channels wayyyy outdid you on this. Thanks for listening. Still a fan.
I said "Preach!" more than once out loud to the empty room I'm in.
Thanks for the tour, Pete!
My mom and I are staying here in September! First time and so excited!
And did your mom boil you away when you were 3 too?? 😂🙋
Love the hidden Mickey on the water slide, and the adorable dolphin fountain! But I swear I am not the parent who boils their children in the hot tub 🤣 plus the theming continued into the middle section is adorable!
Good job Pete. It’s a respite in the middle of chaos for vacationing families. And you captured all of that.
When we stay there, we say “ahhhhh”.

Jason Gall ... thanks for this info! I had no idea that they offer a walking tour.

Pete, I really appreciate your sense of humor! Thank you for being you.
fingers crossed that my September trip to here holds up
Good Luck! I've got a trip here in February

Thanks for taking me back to my favourite resort.
Loved the tour Pete!
We stay here every year! Been staying at this resort since the 90's. My granddaughter loves this resort she won't let us stay anywhere else! Love it!
Pete your the best!
Thanks Pete
Whaaa I'm so homesick! Our favorite resort. We often say we could hang here and not go to the parks.
Its my favorite resort simply beautiful I stay there as much as I can
Great Great Video guys!!!!!!! Love the Walk Troughs!!!!! Its really nice to see more of the Resort!!!! Keep up the great work!!!!

Just makes my heart so happy to see this even though we own elsewhere. Love OKW!

Now this reminds me of the Truman Annex

Mickey Bars!!!!!! I've never seen Mickey Bars at a Resort!!!!!!!
Yes, Pete, we'll vouch for you! Lol
This is such a happy video, I love your narration style.

Pete, my wife and i adore your podcast and youtube channel! keep up the good work. great tour of key west!! we’ve never stayed there.

Looks nice! This is what I imagine FL looks everywhere.
We stayed here last November for a week.😍 We will be back this November for a short stay, this is one of favorite resort. ❤❤❤ Thanks for sharing
I like that Gurgling Suitcase shirt
I’m thinking about staying there with my semi wheelchair bound sister thru a timeshare rental program. We don’t necessarily need a handicap room unless there are stairs. Looks a fantastic resort thanks for the tour really enjoyed it.love the channel :)
Do you realize you’re boiling away your grandchildren 😂🤣😂🤣🤣🤣🤣 ❤️❤️😴🤷♀️🤪❤️🤪❤️
If you ever go to Good's Food to Go for breakfast, get the sausage egg and cheese sandwich. So delicious.
Mike Fangman agreed... also best onion rings on Disney property
Andrew LeBlanc I had onion rings somewhere but I don't remember where. I just remember that they were actually rings and not circles of diced onions.
Going here later today
Can someone tell me if OKW is comparable with CB? I was not impressed with CB but I love the theaming.
I remember my mom drove to the grocery store, because those were too expensive... She did cook breakfast every morning when we stayed there.
If you have Amazon Prime, they can deliver fairly cheep grocery to your hotel ( The hotel charges you to deliver it to you room now, but you can go down a pick it up for free)
My mom boiled me away when I was 3 too and I now do it to my kid 🤷 😂😝
Is it me or does the lighthouse on the coffee mug look like a Dalek from Doctor Who?
What home do you think for family of 5 (kids 15, 12, 8) Old Key West or Animal Kingdom? We are torn! Help!

omg good i happen to be going mid February next year :)
Cool you have really good wait times and a more laid back trip.
@@peterobrien2365 Awesome! Thanks for letting me know! :)
You all make jokes about having a sauna in Florida. I've been to Disney in December when I would have loved to have a sauna.
just wanted to i love you guys and girls.. havent said it in a while. appreciate the company on the toilet
They stopped allowing new pictures in Olivia’s a number of years ago because there were too many and they were getting too big. They will let you update them if you already have one and it’s the same size
Don't forget your DVC discount!
When was the villa tour uploaded? Or is that coming later?
Out of all of the resorts, you never really hear about this one?
Thank you so much Pete for the walkthrough. Boiling kids !🤣😂🤣 Creapy old gay guy with a camera 🤣🤣
Do you realize your boiling away your grandchildren? 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Good video and I like OKW very music indeed. For this video however, Pete (for his explained historical reasons) was not really an objective reviewer.
Bat clickbait I know that because I live in key West
