What are you talking about?? This is great! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Much more challenging to follow along than to originally record the part. You’re an excellent musician, with great feel 🌹
Wow! funky kickin'! I love Numan, Pino was one of the best Numan had man Rikki you nailed and see your flaws keep trying like me and my drumming covers of Numan and more lol.
Rikki, Your bass has nice tone (more Mick Karn than Pino) and your vibrato is excellent. You might want to try the Vevo version of NIN-Sanctified (live) with Pino on Bass.
Thanks for the suggestion! I hadn't head it before, fantastic bass playing by Pino! I'm actually away from my basses for a week or 2 but when I get back I'll probably give it a shot.🙂
Hey there, wonderful effort. I wish I could be as close as you are of the "good" line. At least we can understand how accurate was and still is Pino. Quick question, how did you do your sound (I mean settings, effects if any, etc)?
Hi! Thanks alot! I was recording direct to the computer (using Reaper) and the I only effects I was using was compression/EQ (with a mid boost) using a Zoom B3. The bass is a Warwick Double Buck NT and and I was using the bridge pickup in 'parallel mode'.
Thank you! This was a while ago but it was the following as I remember - Warwick Corvette Double Buck with rear pink up in parallel coil mode. Slight boost to mids on the preamp. Zoom B3 for compression and amp emulation (Ampeg B15).
Very good cover and great sounding base! I have a fretless base as well, but I cannot get this kind of sound out of it. Are you using any effects like reverb or compressor? Are you recording directly today computer or using a microphone and an amp? I’m finally what is the make and brand of your guitar? Sorry about all these questions but I really need help
Thank you very much.🙂 I was recording direct to the computer and the only effects I was using was compress/EQ (with a mid boost). The bass is a Warwick Double Buck NT and and I was using the back pickup solved in 'parallel mode'. I hope this helps.
Don't be so hard on yourself, I can only dream of hitting this like you have. The best I can do is play the intro to Hotel California on my Gretsch G-something Electric something. It's big and white. .With a sock inside. Please play more and let me latch onto some of these great bass riffs.
Thanks so much for your kind comments! 🙂 I don't play my fretless as often as I should so I always feel I little self conscious when I record with it. We're all our own harshest critics, I guess....
I very, very naively went into Bass figuring it'd be an easy way into music. Two basses and eight years later, and I still wouldn't want to play in front of anyone.
Thanks. Yeah the tone is more has more mid range I'm the equivalent than I'd usually use but the original bass is so high in the mix that I needed the mids to be heard clearly.
‘I’ve got a net bag of babybel, you can’t have those they’re for the car, I’m driving to Harrogate’
There's nothing cooler than someone hitting a fretless bass like this. You can bench what you like, but this is is the temple of cool.
Probably my favorite bas lines ever. Thank you 🙏
Honestly if this were the original version of the song, I would not notice much of a difference! Well done, amazing cover!
I didn’t realize until recently this was a fretless bass. I thought it was a synthesizer. You nailed the part!
@2:35... even with all the other bass moments considered, it's THESE couple of seconds that always leap out @ me!.
Love it! Even Gary Numan said he wasn't so practiced or confident about the fretless bass when he recorded it, got someone else to play it.
Simply Stunning. Justice to the original by Pino. Good work my friend!
Very great job Rikki! Gary N's bass player choice could not be better..Mr. P.P. bass lines are outstanding & you got it!
What are you talking about??

Just watched again and BLOODY GOOD EFFORT RIKKI! Full marks, accolades, prizes and presents. Flawless. Well done!
You def could have made it onto one of Gary's tours, Brilliant !
You have a great touch - it was a pleasure to hear/see, and great choice of song.
Nailed it perfectly, amazing touch and tone, great job

Great touch and groove dude! love your playing.
I'm too old to be here, but great work fella!
Alan Partridge approves
Music taken to the edge - I love it

What is your bass tone setup? It sounds incredible

Zoom B3 for compression and amp emulation (Ampeg B15).
Great bass. The best cover of this tune I've seen was by Alan partridge.
懐かし。当時よく聴いてたわ。40年前かな。
Well done you well worth the listen
Absolutely great job mate.
Sorry you have probably been asked hundreds of times. Do you have the tab for this. Can't find it anywhere
Sorry - I learnt this by ear and didn't write it down.
I haven't played this song since recording this recording so I'd have to start from scratch.
No problem. I think I can figure it out. I was being lazy 😂
Absolutely fantastic!
Superb 😊
Fuck man this is so so sick. Nailed it
Outstanding. Love it
So... turns out Alan Partridge played this slightly wrong.
Absolute magic👍

Magic!
Nailed it!
Good!
Flawless
Good job Rikki. :)
Great job 👍 I think that’s the same bassist than Dalis Car, I forgot his name (my shame 😅)
The bassist of Dalis Car was Mick Karn R.I.P.
Good man
I only knew of this song because of Alan Partridge 😂
Hi. It's how I first came across it too! 🙂
Very nice
The sound of when the tax people are at the door😉

Easier to learn than guitar
Harder to master
Top job

Wow, that was fantastic, thanks
Nice!
Pino is the master.....
sounds like the right notes in the right place at the right time. Not overplayed or over 'filled ' But a little bit farty?
Thanks.

but you did very great :)
😎👏👏👏
I’ve been trying to find an accurate tab of this! Do you have this tabbed in guitar pro?
Thanks. Sorry, I learnt this by ear and didnt write it down. Its not 100% but I think I'm fairly close.
