I remember listening to this album for the first time and thinking, I can't believe he has done it again, turned the notch up once more. I feel he delivers albums in a similar way to Kate Bush. My other all time favourite.
Pino Palledino killing that fretless bass on this joint. He’s the tall guy with the machine gun!! Mick Karn of Japan, Pino Palledino and John Taylor of Duran Duran are my favorite bass players. They make their instrument talk and sing
@@davidwaterhouse2552 That’s when I became a fan. I saw The Who like 12 years ago here in south Florida and Pino was playing with them. He’s One of the best!
The thing is with Gary Numan, you have to be patient and wait for what he delivers, the intro is about 30 seconds, this song is a perfect example of what he can do.
Absolutely fell in love with this song just this week December 2020 it’s in my head Gary I love u and there’s nothing u can do about it lol thanks for the song
Such a cool track had this on 7 in . When I first heard are friends electric it blew me away loved numan ever since. Never understood why the music press had a downer on numan
His career was on the downturn at this stage, but i love some of the 80's soul/funk pop music, Also Spandau Ballet, Living in a Box , Go West, etc ......
Fretless bass on this track was by the amazing Pino Palladino. Numan had worked with Mick Karn just a few months earlier on his Dance album and was obviously heavily influenced by Japan at the time.

Perfect for a bit of air bass in the caravan...
I always thought that (Partiidge) was a Japan song. Never checked it out but I think that is the case..
😂😂😂😂
Its not a caravan, its a static home 😂😂😂
Ye House.....
Yeah he brought me here and yes I also thought was Japan mind you 80s electronica sounded all the same anyway 😆
I've had these shorts since 1982. They did have an underpant lining, but eh, it's perished.
love this track but can never unsee Alan Partridge
Lovely stuff. Not my words mind you: that's the words of Top Gear magazine
Overtaking is a long drawn out AFFAIR.
Alan Partridge introduced me to this masterpiece!
I literally just Google'd 'Alan Partridge air guitar song' to find this lol.
@@davidholgate123 je suis honorée.
Was just watching that clip of Alan Partridge - love it! Love this song too.
@@LizFarrow so do I! Have a great day!
I tried, but I couldn't keep up with Alan on air guitar.
My girlfriend used to say: Play that song with the bass! One of my favourites.
Gary Numan phenomenal then and still is now.
Are you new here?
My favourite album is probably the best of gary numan
Replicas got to be his best one

Wow, I refresh my activity feed and see roughly a dozen old videos from Numan. Nice!
Mick Karn on bass, absolute class
@@andrewjackson3554really is first class!
All jokes aside, I'm really fuckin glad Alan Partridge turned me on to this fuckin banger
"Turn it up, Norfolk! (North Norfolk)."
Seriously, though - what a fantastic tune. Fresh and enigmatic.
You have the tax people coming today alan 🤣
The thing is with Gary Numan, you have to be patient and wait for what he delivers, the intro is about 30 seconds, this song is a perfect example of what he can do.
Amen brother
This song just screams Norfolk Nights.
This was the best of Gary Nueman! Love it! Oil painted to it when I was 15 years old! His best work!!!
"Webb of intrigue" - Nice little Easter egg. Also love that snide look he *almost* gives the camera at 2:47. A look he's done a few other times.
Yes!
He did everything in his own unique, ethereal style.
I've always loved this track!!
Seen Alan partridge dancing to this been addicted ever since 😂😂😂😂
Pino Palledino killing it on the bass ❤
Did Bill Oddie leave a message?
He just does what he wants to do.he always seems to be right.who cares what critics say, full gigs are all that matter.

I was at this gig and, oh my god come back real music, also a numam fan and visage and John foxx , met them all, now long for more.
When Gary starts singing in this, I can't help but hear Chris Issak "Wicked Game" (The world was on fire and no one could save me but you)
I appreciate the spelling of the word web in the newspaper headline, as that's Gary's real last name.
Webb is his real name.
I’ve never seen the video for this until now, but noticed the reference!
yep at 3:17
I hope people who looked up this song solely because of Alan Partridge give the rest of the album a listen to. It's pretty good!
Get a life!
Gary this is the best of you Sir. I keep coming back to this. Thank you for this and all your music.
One of my personal favourites to of yours. I particularly like the long album version!

Does anyone else notice a huge similarity to Kajagoogoos "Too Shy" which came out about a year later (and hasn't aged nearly as well)?
I agree about the similarity but I feel they both aged well
I like the "Webb of lies" headline on the newspaper
Most hypnotic eyes I’ve ever seen 🤩
getting a little funky now! I love how he looks into the camera after getting out of the car...

1.05 minutes into the video, is that Brian Moseley who use to play 'Alf Roberts' in Coronation street?

I wonder what time the inland revenue will arrive ?
My favorite from his post-Telekon period I think ✌️
Love how many people are here because of Alan Partridge

Bass is secondary in rock bands..Garys keyboards and synthesizers are priority number 1.
