The Max Output batteries have the 2 extra connections, same as the Octane batteries have. With Octane tools, and most likely the new Ridgid tools announced recently, many of those tools will also have the extra connections like the Octane tools have. With these tools their will be a performance increase. Maybe not longer run times though. For larger impacts, recip saws, grinders... the extra power is advantageous.
Those extra contact points are the only real difference (except rubber bottom & cost), and like you pointed out, they allow for greater amps with less heat, but same Volts & AmpHours. So depending on the tools used, you may have more power available for a shorter period using the Max Output vs original Std 4AH "Lithium Ion".
Wow! just FYI you have a pretty rare cordless portable Ridgid shop vac. it's hard to find it with the orange face you typically only find them all black
Have the same vac but it’s always had connection issues, while using it the speed will decrease at certain angles. Doesn’t matter what battery I’m using. Some day I’ll get around to a tear down and find that loose wire 🤷♂️

THE older style have a 3 year warranty. After that period if they crap out batteries could be revived or serviced by a battery shop, but you have to pay. IT USED TO be that only batteries that came with your tool have a lifetime service agreement.

@@Make-it-work That has not been my experience with ANY of the Ridgid batteries I have...kit or not...since they first made them. Most of mine WERE in a kit, but not all...even the older style...your "mileage" apparently varied from mine.
I thought the major difference with the new max output batteries is that the individual purchase batteries now come with the LSA too? You no longer have to buy your batteries in a kit to get them covered by the LSA right? Big enough difference for me and if I can get them for roughly equal price, I would definitely go with the new Max outputs myself.

Ridgid then released the max output batteries and updated the LSA to include batteries bought in a kit and new single purchase max output batteries. It is possible I’m misunderstanding though. If you have a link to prove I’m wrong I would actually like to see it
I honestly don't care that much that the indicator is now single-piece with a membrane button or of the pack's smaller, more unstable footprint. Lack of rubber overmolding -and orange latch buttons- is inexcusable.
I purchased a rigid drill and impact driver, I hate them, they shut off when you need it most. Ridged Cordless tools are off of my list, they advertise batteries for life, Home Depot no longer replaces the batteries you have to go through a bunch of bull, Ridged is just not worth the hassle
I just bought a 4amp max output 2 pack at homedepot in Canada and they only gave me a 3 year warranty not the LSA like the package said ,I registered them the same day I bought them in early July ,sounds like the new LSA on battery alone purchases is a SCAM,just good old fashioned decetive practices.
In my experience every time you register any product it instantly gives you the 3-year warranty and then I think it says somewhere it can take up to 6 months for them to review it to increase it to the LSA so what I always do is whenever I call tech support to ask them they'll usually do a manual review to update it to Lifetime

Can you measure the discharge rate. The leaf blower consumes juice faster then other tools. Old and new batteries may have a significant difference.
