I discovered Tom Waits somewhere around 2005, and absorbed all of his catalog. Didn't love all of it, but most of it. The early crooner stuff, not so much for me, but starting around Bone Machine, that material spoke to me. If I am honest, the first songs I heard that really got to to me was "God's away on business", "Hoist that rag", "Cold Water". Songs from that era... Then I anxiously waited for a new album... For 6 years. Loved most of "Bad as me". I then waited for another album. It never came. I don't know if one ever will. I guess Mr. Waits is just an actor now...

I think there's Alot of symbolism in this video with Mr. Waits hands painted, as in his hands are dirty from bad past deeds, the sacrificial chicken with the ceremonial pineapple. Just a thought but, Tom Waits doesn't put anything into a performance without there being a meaning to the act. Plus it pertains to his talented story telling nature. Keep up the awesome work Tom!!! You have been a long time influence on myself and many others!!
Not just a chicken, but always a rooster. He has several songs with rooster crow accompaniment. I'm a fan of roosters. myself. I think Tom loves these ridiculous creatures the way most anyone who truly knows them must.

Great to see him in the Buster Scruggs movie. Fortunate enough here to have attended two of his concerts. Mule Variations tour, then the Glitter and Doom tour. He's in "Rumblefish", "The Ballad of Buster Scruggs", He plays the devil in "The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus", a great role in "Down By Law", a horrible film he did recently "The Dead Don't Die", which I cannot recommend. They meant well, but that movie is just wow. He's been in loads of films. Tom can also be spotted in the old classic "The Outsiders".
