Yes gooseneck you can get sharper turning but you have an extremely long trailer. I built my trailer short and built short bins. The main reason i built bumper pull with common rail is if i get to the point of a cab & chassis all my bins still fit and i can haul the trailer behind the truck to deliver two bins. Good video 👍

The bumper pull is nice because you can haul it with just about anything capable and they follow/back up like a dream. The gooseneck is a lot easier to make a mistake or get in a jam, but as with anything a little practice makes it much more versatile. A lot of this conversation also rides on how heavy the loads are. A 5 ton roof for example feels a lot nicer in this than the bumper pulls. Thanks for tuning in! 💪

@@MAXCODumpsters yes I can’t legally haul 5 tons 🤫but yes you are right believe me goose neck is definitely better for hauling i have a ram 3500 single wheel but still if the bin is back heavy it wants to walk you around the road.

@@BentIronBins I’ve been there with the dump trailers. It’s why I won’t drop my 20 yard dump trailer on roofing jobs. They always load rear heavy.

Great video! I’m considering a trailer setup as a backup to my truck, just in case.
I was thinking of going bumper pull but you talked me out of it. I’ve pulled enough 5th wheels to know better about the angles but I was thinking it might be worth it to have a bumper pull with a less experienced driver. However, I don’t want to play the short game and go for the easier plug and play with a driver. Easier don’t mean better, certainly in this case. Thank you for talking through this! God bless!

Hey Dan! Thanks for checking out the video! It’ll certainly be tougher to find/train a driver with a gooseneck, but you can always put them in your straight truck and be the guy running the trailer if it’s a back up/secondary option. If they can figure out the bumper pull they can figure out the goose with just a bit more effort.
Side note - Did Josh invite you out to Dallas yet? You making the trip?

@@MAXCODumpsters I’m really hoping I can make it down there. I don’t think I’ll know for sure until a little later on into this month. It sounds like the event will be pretty incredible though. I would love to meet everyone, listening and learning from people all over😎
I’m assuming you’re going? Know of anyone else from YT going? I wish that I reached out more to others on YT. I’ve been selfish as a consumer and haven’t tried to help build community on here. I’d like to change that👍

@@danielthedumpsterhelperthis is your opportunity brother! This is going to pull all the TH-camr community together in a major way. American AF, Rolling Ops, Same Day Dumpster, Triple Alxe Slanga, and myself for sure and more adding in as the time goes.
If you didn’t see my “Tampa Showcase” video - go check it out. We talked Josh into joining us and that got the ball rolling for the Texas event.

id definilty like to pick ur brain one day. I need to leave over the road driving and stay local for medical reasons. Was thinking of getting into the dumps. But have very minimal knowledge.

What do you do if your truck breaks down. I find that my bumper pull s a lot easier to get a truck rental than it is to get one with a gooseneck

    • @MAXCODumpsters

I bought the standard rail trailer with that in mind. 1) I have friends with gooseneck hitched trucks. 2) I have a small network of local dumpster runners that can pick up my cans if needed.
I also bought a 2021 truck to *hopefully* minimize the chance of a breakdown, but that’s always a crap shoot anyway.
Did you go 14’ or 16’ rails?

I got a gooseneck with the slight idea that less people would ask to borrow it haha.

What about in terms of weight and strain on the truck?

    • @MAXCODumpsters
      @MAXCODumpsters  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

Bumper pull loses in that category for sure. The goose will distribute the weight much better and tow much nicer. It’s a night and day better experience on the heavy loads.
