I didn't know you did reviews! The last thing I remember seeing of yours was a Dark Cloud Let's Play, I think, which must have been YEARS ago! 😅 This is a great review, I really enjoyed this game and you hit on a lot of the opinions I came to when I played it. Great job!
Yeah, I tranisitoned about 4 years ago now, I guess? Been enjoying it a lot more as I can carefully curate what I want to say. Glad you enjoyed the review. I have been struggling with SotC recently - so that will be interesting if I ever get to finishing it. Haha.
TIP FOR THE LADDERS, hold down let go to drop, let the button go to to regrab the ladder, I played through twice before realising that. good video, subscribed
Great review! I never finished this one because I didn’t like dragging Yorda around. I didn’t realize it was so short though. I’m going to have that song in my head all day.
I really love your content, and I think your critique is always fair and informative. If possible can I suggest turning down the background music. I find you are either shouting over the music or getting drowned out a bit. Still keep up the good work!
I loved the box art for this. Been forever since I played this, I probably put up with the camera more because I played it closer to it's release when that sorta thing was more accepted. I remember hearing that there was a translated version of the script or something but maybe that's a false memory as I can't find much about it online. Like some films or books are art and some are not (or at least, are bad art) some games are art and others are not (or are lesser art)
Yes! The box art was inspired by a famous artist, Giorgio de Chirico. I saw stuff about that as I was doing some research for the game. As for the translated version of the script, apparently in new game plus the subtitle language is all in English. Also, in the PAL version a second person can play as Yorda using the second controller. I didn't try this, though. I think personally art can something where the audience interprets it in a way that's different from the creator's original intention. But yes, there's also a big difference between high art, and normal art. It's an interesting debate. I had to examine the theme of what is art when I was a university student. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
@@Venoix I noticed all your footage is from the US PS2 version, so you truly couldn't see any of those new game plus features. You won't be able to access them on your copy. They weren't added because the US version is really an early build that was forced to market by American investors who wanted Ico to be a launch title for PS2, or as close to a launch title as they could get. (It didn't sell well here, probably because the American box art had to be made in absence of any alternative, and we all know it turned out bad.) For an even better Ico experience (better AI, improved shadow effects and textures, a hint system, etc) you'd have to either get a foreign copy of the PS2 game, or a copy of the remaster for PS3, which is entirely based upon the Japanese release.

Thanks for the heads up, and for the watch and sub. I appreciate it!

Haha, yeah dragging Yorda around did get a little annoying after awhile, but luckily it is a relatively short game!
Great looking game for the era! reminds me of the prince of persia games on original xbox. Awesome story and concept for the game
Oh man, I remember Prince of Persia from back on the Amiga. That really takes me back.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll try to keep this in mind for the future. Cheers! :)
