That time of year where I view this video to make sure my pepperpot is PERFECT! Still the best and Simple’s way of cooking my family’s favorite version. Thank you thank you.
It's nice of you to let others know that there are different ways/ingredients to make Guyanese pepperpot. Just like curry or many other ethnic food in the world, each household has its own unique mixture of seasoning and meat. Thanks for showing your grandma's version. Be blessed and keep up your good work.
Did you notice she made sure her version was uploaded first? Sad yes. I just saw in the comments someone asked for a vegetarian version, I'll bet she does that before you do. Pathetic I tell you.
Great video! Easy to follow. I tried making pepperpot before but I have never tasted the real thing made in Guyana so I really don't know what the authentic taste is like. Will try this recipe definitely. I am also very grateful for the bread video. Thanks!
Hello! I tried out your recipe. It was my 1st attempt at pepperpot ever. Your instructions were simple, but packed with flavour. I used goat & lamb. Thank you for your page. Merry Christmas to you & your loved ones. 😊🎄👌🏽
Matthew I use goat too! It makes the most flavorful yummiest pepperpot. My recipe is down pat but I just like to browse and check out the others. Merry Christmas my brother!
All of your recipes are on my to do list! i made a notebook! Thank you for sharing, ive tried throughout my life to watch these dishes being made but the Older woman always wanna hide it n not share with me. Thank goodness for youtube. 😌
It's Christmas Eve and I was scrambling for a recipe to make pepperpot to eat for breakfast on Christmas day! Firstly thanks for such clear explanations and video on methods for this recipe. Secondly since this was my first time trying I looked at quite a few recipe for guidance and found that I would take yours and add my own twists. So glad I did, it turned out delicious! Thanks for keeping our traditions alive in our generation and keep doing what you do! Merry Christmas! :)
I'm sure you can use duck or chicken. This works for harder meats because it cooks for such a long time but you can do it with chicken or duck and cook it for less time.
Shawn t. This very late respr, but there is a TH-camr called "Vegan by Jenn" that has vegan version. Check her out. She uses garden (non)beef tips I believe
@@matthewsguyanesecooking4601 I find that the way you narrate the show is great... With reference to way you learned from your grandma and actually showing us at the same time is just superb.. keep it up bro ..
Just wanted to bring to your attention that a certain trini channel has been stealing your ideas, techniques, and even recipes. Be careful and don't post your ideas before you post your videos. I noticed that it's happening to other Caribbean TH-camrs as well. You all need to come together and stop it because its pathetic.
I have never ever heard of goat meat pepper pot. Pepper pot is way too oily and light. The bread looks good. Your grandmother is a bit off. Back in the 30’s -40’ Guyanese Indians never cooked Pepper pot. They only started cooking pepper pot in the late 60’s-70. The Indians very made a lot of the traditional Christmas dishes especially the ones from the country side.
Yes. We are a beautiful country in SOUTH AMERICA with no major natural disasters (probably only slight flooding) and lots of resources and people of different cultures

I know sometimes person would put it in a pressure pot is that ok too when beef is concern
ooo pepper pot, my family eats that literally every Christmas
What's the marinated sauce. Sorry im not familiar with the name. ? Where can i quckly buy this in Aus, if you might know
Called Casareep. Not sure if you can find a West Indian store
Please share some recipes on fish curry and how to make fry fish.
I have both recipes on my channel
Can I substitute orange peel with lemon peel?
I do not think so. You can omit it
Can’t wait to try yum 😋, can Casreep be substituted ? Thx
You can maybe burn some sugar in the beginning. It will be very light though. It will also taste a bit different.
Yummmyyyyyyyy💚❤💙
It was so good
Can the steaming proces be done in a slow cooker
No. All of the juices would not be burnt off in the slow cooker
You can start it on the stove then pour into the slow cooker and then leave it to cook
@@matthewsguyanesecooking4601 ok thanks
love the bread
How long could you keep Cassareep for before you have to throw it out ??
For a long time. We have has casreep for up to 2 years
Somebody send this guy some good Pomeroon casareep
Because of my religion I don’t eat chaarghoor (four-legged) meat, do you recommend to use chicken or duck as meat? Or does that not work?
I'm sure you can use duck or chicken. This works for harder meats because it cooks for such a long time but you can do it with chicken or duck and cook it for less time.
Try turkey
I’d go with Duck . It has more flavour !
Yessss love it
Thank you
can i use chicken instead of goat? but is the same ingredients for the chicken processing? and less time ?
Same ingredients, but a lot less time. Or else it will get too mushy!
@@matthewsguyanesecooking4601 thanks! :)
Hey, Thx. Finally 😁😍. Silly me I thought it had soy sauce. Lol. Btw u don't have a boil and fry provision. 😳 That's another one of my Fav..hint..hint.
You're welcome! Glad you enjoyed. I will do that recipe soon lol no worries.
Thx. Next time u r in Flushing try the cumin noodles. th-cam.com/video/8GdYJIanFz4/w-d-xo.html
Any way possible we can do a vegetarian take on this? Or not possible lol
Yes of course I'll do one in the future.

I'm Guyanese, in my early 40s, but never had pepperpot in my life. I know, strange, but my mom just never made it when I was growing up.
Definitely give it a try if you can. So delicious!
Hi Matthew this will be my 3rd attempt at pepperpot. Do you ever add bayleaf?
You can add bayleaf. Sometimes I add it
Thank you

I'm a guyanese married to a trini and they cook the same way but say it a little different
That pepper pot need some color bai.
taditionally it is made with pork and beef tho. so maybe remove that word from the description so it wont be misleading
Maaaan... them hands rubbing in de meat...cheech..!
Try putting a pot cover on the bowl and do a vigorous shake.
