I left the comment on the Ye video about this album, glad you guys got to hear it! One of my personal favorite albums of all time. Such a beautiful & creative take on folk music.
Side note: he actually helped invent the vocal modulator he uses all over this project called a “prismizer” that makes his voice sound like there are hundreds of layers all at different pitches, almost like a light beam going through a prism but for vocals.

I think the craziest thing about Bon Iver is they pull off their sound live. I highly suggest their NPR Music Front Row video!

One of my favorite albums of all time. Everything Justin touches turns to gold. I watched your Travis Scott reaction, and Justin sang on 'My Eyes' and 'Delresto,' so there's already a small collaboration with Sampha, haha. Actually, I'm pretty confident he produced a big part of 'My Eyes,' since he shared it on Instagram a few years ago

glad to see you guys loved this one! super underrated album, one of my favourites. if you’re looking to check out more bon iver, i,i is probably the closest sounding one to this, but i’d personally recommend checking out his self-titled or the blood bank ep next. they’re more folk, but all his stuff is fantastic.

You guys should def check out Alt-J, specifically their album An Awesome Wave, it’s a great album through and through.

The Dream is also overlooked by many. An Awesome Wave showcased their 'sound' which carried on through the following two albums, but The Dream took a whole different turn in terms of genre and musicianship. So much variety throughout the whole record. Other than Bon Iver, alt-J are my favourite. Fantastic album and fantastic band!

If you are up for some heavier music you should check out a tool album 10 000 days or lateralus are both extremely good. It is a bit different from most metal bands.

The 'little shit' you guys are talking about is referred to in this context as "plunderphonics" which refers to the little random samples that come in and out in music, typically being used repeatedly throughout a song. There are plenty of bands that use this consistently, one being The Avalanches, and Bon Iver used it mixed it with electronics, jazz, and folk instrumentation. Another album you may really enjoy that does this incredibly well is "The Lemon of Pink" by The Books. Truly one of the most creative and essential albums in the genre of plunderphonics.
Also I love the little digital 'breaks' or glitches in some of the songs where the autotune/effects spaz out for a second it makes it weirdly more organic even though its a digital effect. His next album is fantastic as well.
