This is def top 10 for me. Van Morrison Astral Weeks, Bob Dylan Blood on the Tracks, Taylor Swift 1989, Public Enemy Fear of a Black Planet, Radio Head The Bends … A few others that made an impression on me
I really appreciate this video...firstly, I loved to have the experience of hearing this album for the first time (again) through your ears. And your commentary and personal connection to the music was great. Thank you for this!
Thanks so much for this comment. I’m glad I can give you that experience again. This has been one of my favourite musical experiences in a while. Hope to catch you around here more! ❤
Please remember: These are just my opinions! I tried to be a little more outgoing in what i say and how i express what i think about this album in this video, and if it works, i'll keep that sort of energy. This was a fun video to make, sorry I didn't get this out faster. I have more on the way, so be ready for those!
I remember laughing in delight at how weird this album was (in a good way). It was like nothing I had ever heard before and also was incredibly familiar at the same time somehow.
I absolutely get that. It’s like those traces of his previous music just shine through and are so recognisable. Maybe that’s the best part of Bon Iver’s discography, it’s so unique and you can almost instantly tell it’s his work.
If you’re gonna make a video about him then you need to start with DeYarmond Edison, his band in Raleigh, North Carolina. The tentacles that stretched out from that band are pretty ridiculous. He lost his band, his longtime girlfriend and had mono within the same year… Then he bounced to Eau Claire Wisconsin to the (now legendary )cabin. Look up DeYarmond Edison. Then go from there Thank you for the review
At some point i gotta stop to give my ideas on the songs, and I really don't want to pause the middle of the song as it does it's magic. On a listen when i'm not pausing, i agree, these songs, the entire album in fact, is made for continuous play.
First time I heard 22, A Million, I didn't quite get it. Now it's probably my favourite album of all time.
It’s so well made, and some of the songs are just so ethereal. It’s a collection of some of Bon Iver’s best work IMO.
