I grew up at a time when most bikes were kick start, and so I’ve kick-started a lot, and seen a lot of kick-starting, but I never in my life saw someone kick-start a bike while standing off to the side of it until TH-cam. Now I see it all the time. What’s up with that? My dad was a small man with a big Indian, and even he would hop on the bike, get his weight way up in the air, kick it over and take off, without having to walk around the bike several times.

There is, I believe, another big fat concern associated with kick-starting a motorcycle with one's left leg on a motorcycle with the kickstarter on the right side... how does the person starting the motorcycle presume to control the motorcycle if it begins to tip to one side? Fruit for thought.
My 91 yo uncle who used to ride old kickstart motorcycles kickstarted the bikes the same way as the girl in the video, by standing beside it. Infact, he even reinstalled the decompression lever from the handlebars to under the seat near the kickstarter so he could release the pressure more easily. It has nothing to do with internet, let everyone start the bike however they want.

My late Father knew a man in Northern Ontario who was the mail man. Who rode a similar bike to deliver the mail to the 'bush camps.' What a sound.....that's a bad ass bike!

Throttle on left handle bar,clutch on left leg Hand gear on right and brake on right handle bar ...did ny1 notice that ? Or was just watching the bike n red beauty?
check the rubber piping coming out of the carburator and into the cilinders. Or alternatively (less likely) rubber piping from the airbox into the carburator. Rubber degrades with time (especialy if heated by the engine) and can crack causing excess air to get sucked in to the engine thus throwing off the gas+air mixture (needs a choke to start even in hot weather ((a choke lets less air through the airbox and in case of an air leak can TEMPORARILY fix the problem but its purpose is cold engine startup ) . The reason it runs(if the problem is what i think it is) is When rubber heats up because of the engine heat , it expands and can seal those cracks so it runs normaly when hot.
That is a testament to the quality of the Indian Motorcycles of the past. it sounds great and
started right up.

My father had one in Mombasa ( Kenya). 1951. Grate machine, accelerator on your left hand, foot clutch on the left, gear lever on the right.

Old Indian bikes have the accelerator on the left .. from what I know.. this was due to accommodate the handling of weapon/guns during the war times

Assuming that your motorcycle has a carburettor. I had the same problem on a 2002 yamaha dragstar 250(basicaly a european v star)
