Thank you so much for this one Max.Been putting this job off for some time due to ill health.Particularly like your approach re pully removal so I will re-run this vid to ensure I do every thing in the right order.Take care I wish you a happy Christmas .You've given some great advice this last year.
Very useful. Only a little but important tip: try to find better ways to have non-flickering footage, you need to fix the camera while working! Anyway, thanks!
Hello. Great video helped me much. Btw need the big bolt of the steeringpulley in the middle also be losen? Or can i just use the tensioner bolt to edit the belt tension?
Useful video, thanks. In my 1996 K11 there's very little clearance between the tensioner pulley and the car body to take the pulley out. Does the clearance increase when you jack up the engine sump and take the engine mount off? Thanks
Hey mate great video, but having a bit of trouble getting the idler pulley out. Doesn't seem to be enough room between it's axle bolt and the wall of the engine bay, so can't get it clear. Any tips?
@@maxautouk came right, I think the engine moved too much on my cheap little roller jack. I had to get a bit forceful and lever the engine from the side to make clearance. Hopefully the other mounts are all fine 🤞
@@FormulaJosh on a smaller jack you'll be safe with this, you'd have to lift it quite high to damage the mounts and it would usually lift the engine off the stand at that point by quite a few inches too Glad you got it sorted 😁 sometimes a pry bar and some gorilla tactics is the only way!!
@@maxautouk cheers just a quick question not sure if i can dm you or something but i have started this process and when i began removing the engine mount the engine has kinda of "fallen" / leaning over im not sure why it has done this any ideas? the car is just stuck in my drive way now haha 😅 cant work on it until i get the engine back straight...
me n mate did it, bloody gave me wrong belt at spares, had to make a make shift one, n stay over mates, changed the alternator one, & the power stearing smaller one, both were worn, glad its done now !! @@maxautouk
@@maxautoukyes please. I’ve got the new belts for my sons 2000 1.3 which has power steering. The steering has started to judder on start up and the belt squeals, I’m hoping it’s just the belt and not the pump as well!!
Hi, tomorrow I'll try to do the work on both belts, the tensioner bearing and it's definitely in good condition, the car has 20,000 km, do I have to remove the alternator? or just 17 and 12 mm wrench thanks
Hi guys can you please help me i am in so much worried due to my car problems couldnot be find by any technical person as problem is that steering would be hard however i start my car after the stop of its 3 or 4 hours later and once the car run on road and get it temperture increase hot side steering power is active and working properly still no buddy find what a actual problem of my car either steering card or steering motor is out of order. I have had nissan march 2001.
Wouldn't taken off the alternator just be much easier to replace the belt that way? Because i've done just that without unscrewing the engine mount bolts etc it took me like 10 min or less... your video is good but it seems it creates more work than it actually should lol (unless this is an older 90's K11?) where it's different
Did you watch the video? I did not remove the alternator i even said so - i was just showing where the bolts are incase someone wanted to remove it for replacement And the engine mount is far easier to remove than the alternator
Of course I watched it, mate. I removed mine, and it was quicker that way; you that's all i'm saying but yeah if you get a new alt? then remove it and putting on the alt drive belt is easier that method. Still ya vid is great relax lol @@maxautouk
hey just another comment. I dont actually have a tensioner on my k11 my engine bay is the same as seen here th-cam.com/video/u2on2ObHFcc/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=iofix im really struggling to find how to get on my PAS belt ive spent all day trying to do it. there isnt much information online im just fed up now 😅 i also had to take the alternator off for to get the alternator belt off but that was very straight forward the water pump/ pas belt is ridiculous. Any tips from anyone or from yourself max that would be brilliant. That video i linked didnt help me much as the guy doesnt show anything
Hi there when you look at the lower pulley it is the called the tensioner pulled and there is a 12mm bolt on the side of the engine that allows the tensioner pulley to slide in and out to tension the belt so there is a tensioner it’s just positioned different to the alternator tensioner which is on the front of the engine as you saw
sorry this is my other account. I didnt realise I was comment on this profile my other account is the noah goggins one. I am still have no luck with finding it. Is there any way you could email me over or private message me a photo? i have some photos here i could send you.

Im not sure what you mean but if you mean the tensioner then yea you need to loosen the pulley nut then adjust the bolt to tension
Useful video, thanks. In my 1996 K11 there's very little clearance between the tensioner pulley and the car body to take the pulley out. Does the clearance increase when you jack up the engine sump and take the engine mount off? Thanks
Yes raising or lowering the engine just helps you get a bit more angle to slip out bolts and such

You may need to remove the engine mount and raise the engine, be careful not to damage the front and rear gearbox mounts when doing this

Was there a washer before the pulley because I have a small washer from somewhere ?
Possibly from the bolt?
Struggling to tension the belt. Do you turn the 12mm tension bolt clockwise or counterclockwise?
Im afraid i cant quite remember now im sorry 😅
You do not need to remove the engine mount to replace the alternator belt...how come?
You can work around the mount, but its simple to remove and helped me get better footage of the job
any chance you could do a video on the waterpump and PAS belt change?
Yes it’s on the cards!

Maybe a hundred GBP including parts and inspection of the other pulleys

Correct taken off the engine mount is not necessary to remove...just loosen the tensioner pulley and loosen the bolts of alternator much easier...
What’s the belt number?
