I replaced my Micra's belt by reaching down with the hood open. It was a bit fiddly, but there was no need to remove the wheel or the panels to get to it. There is just enough clearance to do so.
@@micradocs It's a few months later and I now have had to replace the water pump, and while I was at it I changed the tensioner pulley too. I'm now regretting trying to do all this from the top. The tensioner in particular is a real pain because you can't see what you are doing, and it is possible to install it wrong. (Edit:) Ultimately, what I did was to remove the tensioner screw mechanism, unscrew it to the loosest position, then put it back in the correct position and reinstall the pulley on the other side. That way there was plenty of slack for the belt to go on, while I could be sure that the tensioner screw thingie hadn't slipped out of its correct position. But yeah, in all the time it took it probably would have been somewhat easier to go at it from the side!
Hello friend. Would you mind elaborating on how you did this? I am looking to do it the same way you did. Did you remove any parts out the way to get there? Is there any tutorial u followed or anything ?
@@hassan.ali101 Assuming you have the same engine (1.2 3-cylinder), it wasn't hard. Once you figure out how to loosen and tighten the tensioner, the belt comes off easily from the top, and the pulley and water pump come off and go on relatively easily. If your new water pump hasa a paper gasket (like SEK) be sure to get it wet so it sticks in place, because you won't be able to see everything you are doing.
i found it difficult doing it your way ...i put the belt on all the pulleys except to water pump pulley.... notice the water pump pulley is rounded on the edges making it easier to slip the belt over whilst pushing down instead of pulling....i did have to loosen the bolt in front of the tensioner to get as much slack as possible....but thanks for the video...i didn't know about the bolt in front of the tensioner without your help
New belt, did few days noise after start, then settles and now quiet as normal. 2006 1.2 ac, replaced in 218 tkm, old belt looked not so worn only a bit. New belt is Gates, old maybe original.
@@matthayes8524 the main bolt that holds the tensioner on is turned anti-clockwise to loosen it, there is another bolt on side also. I have another video on my channel where I replaced the tensioner altogether and I gave a brief explainer. Have a watch it may help
yes reverse thread.... turning the bolt left will loosen the tension... keep in mind i had to hold the back of the tensioner to get the bolt the thread better since it was dirty

Yes, there are a few different ways to get to it. This method I uploaded I thought was ideal for those needing more room to manoeuvre :)

Great content! I need to replace a water pump but watching this has helped me understand how to even get to the bloody thing haha

Hello my friend
how much you need to tighten the bolt tensioner?
Is the bolt on the tensioner reverse threaded by any chance?

@micradocs thanks, I just need to give it some Wd40 and a bigger tool to get it off then

How did you gauge the correct tension for the belt?
Ideally you should use a torque wrench, but I usually go by feel of the belt, should be nice and tight
¿En el Micra K13 sería igual?
Si, es igual
Belt size?
1165mm it's slightly longer because it this vehicle has AC.
1170 mm also at market, will do CR12DE engine with ac
