- Very Rusted & Stuck Vise Restoration
Welcome to the restoration channel. In this video I restored a vise that was given to me for free. The vise was very rusty and stuck. The vise restoration turned out great!
Process of Restoration
On this restoration I started by hitting the components with WD 40 and then began to take it apart.
I washed the parts before putting them into the sandblasting cabinet. I Sand blasted the parts to remove rust.
I cleaned up anvil area on the vice and jaws. I used a file and an air grinder. Then finished with sand paper up to 1500 grit. Made a nice mirror finish.
I had to make a new handle for the swivel tensioner we used what we had to make it work and it turned out great.
I blues the teeth of the vise and it made for a nice look.
I primed the cast and then painted it with hammered paint for a nice textured look on the already textured cast. Then I hand painted the letters and numbers.
I put the vice back together and the old, rusted, locked vice came to life! The project turned out nice!
Please like and comment on the video and let me know what you think. That would be awesome and it would help me out!

Get you a can of PB blaster. You won't regret it.
Thanks for the tip! 👍
Excellent
Ok so two things. First I give mad props to anyone that hand sands for hours. You’re a better man than I am. Second the “fancy lathe work” was pure genius. I would have never thought of that.
Thank you! I appreciate it! 👍👍
Why announce the fact that you are saying two things? Just say them
@@smashyrashy Does it bother you that much? LMFAO GTFOH
@@smashyrashy
to irritate you mostly 🙄
I like it without extra color 👍👍

Another awesome restoration!
Thanks for watching!
Wow, that hammerite really brought out the texture of the roughest casting I've even seen on the face of the earth!
Lol it was pretty rough!
Amazing
Thanks very much!
nice work on that vise.
Thanks 😊
Well done! 😃👌🏼
Wow so 👍
PERFECT WORK
Thanks!
Very nice work bro.. John 3:16...
Thanks much! 👍
Beau travail !
If I may, when you're using heat on stubborn fasteners, try to apply the heat to the surrounding material (vise jaws in this application) so the material surrounding the threads expands, not so much the actual bolt. Over time, either works because expansion breaks bonds but I've found its often a bit faster heating the material around the fastener instead of the fastener
Thanks for the advice and thanks for watching! 👍👍
Looks like he got it.
Powerkraft - Montgomery Wards. Great restoration!
Yes that is it. Thanks for watching!
The swivel clamp work is masterful.
Thanks much!
Автор молодец,отличная реставрация
Однозначноя подписка👍👍👍
Great job! I liked all you did. I noticed at the end you had John 3:16 on the blue tape. Coincidence, whenever I refurbish a vise I write my initials, the date, and John 3:16 on the base. I gift them to family and friends. Thank you.
Carl
That is a great idea! Thanks for the nice comment! Have a great day and God bless!
Great job
Thanks for watching! :)
That's the only silver paint used on cast metal, in a restoration, that I have ever seen that I actually like! 🧡

Nice. I like that you didn't use a lathe or other tools that are out of reach for most people, looking forward to more videos. Subscribed.

Fantastic 👏great job 👍

Very nice restoration of a handy little vise. I don't usually use the slide of a vise as an anvil. Otherwise nice job.
Thanks for the comment! I understand. I would like to some day get an anvil but right now I’m just limited.
@@RebuiltRestored I understand and I really like the job you did on that vise.
Very nice job mate, well done !
Thanks!
Viseception!
You did a bang up job on this vice, do you have other tools you have restoration on.
Thanks! Yes. Have you seen the pipe vise restoration or the Barlow pocket knife restore?
I always love the aspect of using a vise to restore a vise
Thankfully I had an extra one to get the job done! 😂
Parabéns, muito bom o trabalho executado, sómente um bom profissional para fazê-lo 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🇧🇷

@@RebuiltRestored Boa Noite ! Obrigado por responder meu comentário
Hey once again... great job! Loved the clarity in the welding!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Just came across your channel, as I watch other like channels. I appreciate your attention to detail and extra effort you put into the work. I don't see the usefulness of the anvil areas in the rough cast form before you started, or the pipe fitting jaws for that matter. Good call on finishing them out! I subscribed and will watch more of your work.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it.
I freakin love peach tea.

nice job. careful about clamping a vice in a vice tho, you could create a time inversion, lol
Lol Thanks! :)

Thanks! Happy Easter as well!
Fantastic Job! Nice Video! Have a gooden - Vic
Thanks Vic! Have a great day
My old vice had threaded balls on each end of the 5/8 handle, a first for me, threaded then rounded off I reckon. The best part of your build & restoration ? “Made in USA” 🙂
Thanks much! 😁

Very good. But the vise jaws had to be replaced ...or restored too.
Thank you. I sandblasted and blued the jaws.
fico lindo
🤍
I see lots of channels doing the painting of the lettering on these kind of cast iron tools, I think it would look cool to instead use black to have a kind of shadow, like if you paint the entirety of the letter with black, then the very front part(which is the part you painted black in this one) with white, so it's like a shadow with white lettering on the front, it won't look original obviously but cool looking in my minds eye
That is a cool idea! I see what you are saying

Wonderful Job!!! God bless you!!!
Thank you! You too!
Excellent! Please say hi to "inspector" puppy. What is his/her name?
Lol thanks! Ruger is his name!
Ruger....How cool is that!!!@@RebuiltRestored
Это всё хорошо конечно, но почему-то у этих рестораторов свой инструмент всегда ржавый))
I subscribed, just for John 3:16.
For it as well.
